what would you recommend?
the kogan has the least black smearing in this class. The usb-C is "fake", and it's falsely advertised as 1000R (it's 1800R), but as a regular monitor it's legit.
for those with koganophobia, the Dell's the next best and often cheaper, though it's also an older panel than the kogan with noticeable smearing
What do you mean by fake?
@DGH: output from USB-C is reduced resolution/refresh rate
thank you! couldn't seem to find a lot of reviews for the kogan one, but the product page says 6ms response time vs 2ms for the dell, was wondering if you've tested both the kogan and the dell before?
@flud: I daily drive the kogan and the dell s2722dgm, which performs quite well on smearing tests, much better than the dell 34". compared to that, the kogan has even less smearing.
it's entirely possible that the kogan performs worse in other ways of measuring response times, but personally/subjectively the black smearing tends to be the worst part of VAs, so i pay particular attention to that.
@xrailgun: thanks again :) how would you say the smearing is on the kogan, compared to an IPS panel?
@flud: there's probably various generations/grades of IPS panels too, so i'm not sure about that. the only IPS panels i personally use are 75hz and below, so probably not what you're after, sorry!
@xrailgun: all good thanks mate!
i've been looking at the kogan one you've posted and wondering what people honestly thought. Does the usb-c not work properly?
@dboi17: output from USB-C is reduced resolution/refresh rate
Great deal if it was 2021
Is this any good for mainly productivity, watching utube and light gaming (esports)? I like this because of the magnetic covers to cable manage neater
How is this still close to 500 after 2 years
inflation basically
This or:
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lg-34wp65c-b-34-160hz-qhd…Similar price same size both VA panels
I believe they're the same panel, so whatever one has other features you prefer.
I am probably leaning towards spending a bit more on a gigabyte-m34wq.. the wife wont approve me buying the AW3423DW
This will be dropping to $427 soon (still finding out which day). I suggest you wait if you are planning on buying.
having bought this from Gearbite just over 2 years ago, I have been having issues with monitor not turning on and very slow to display image on macs using DisplayPort.
I would recommend Dell or LG at similar price point. At least they would last longer.
no longer a good choice now that there's much faster panels at these prices
