I concur. There's something about shomingeki films that resonates with me

These "common people drama" films certainly resonated with the older female audience last 2 weeks in Brisbane. And with me.

Enjoyed some interesting discussions afterwards. When a man asked me about the more Western style musical score, I admitted I hadn't noticed - focusing on the amazing interactions between characters.

A lot can be said without words, with the turn of the head. A crafted work of this Master.

Some of the street scenes have hardly changed - in some rural villages. And the male dominant culture / tradition is still very evident there.

The journey from Kagoshima to Yakushima in "Floating Clouds" reminded me of my own trip - hiking in the mountains on that island years ago.
Fortunately my experience was amazing, with no rain, & no tragic ending…
