  • Pioneer DMH-Z6350BT* with free shipping, reverse camera for $595

Anyone able to compare this and the Sony XAV-AX4000 (which using CR & AMEX is $530). My money is leaning that way atm.

    Main things I note:
    - Both are wireless AP/AA
    - This has Bluetooth Dual Phone (i guess decent addition but also kinda novel)
    - This has dual camera inputs (1x rear is fine for nearly everyone)
    - This outputs at 4V vs 2V for the Sony (not significant unless and audiophile)

    Have I missed anything?

    • In every way, the DMH-Z6350BT is better. It’s a 6.8” version of their 9” Floating screen flagship.

Come on OP, not really an answer there is it.

In every way? - I can tell you one that isn't. Having touch capacitive 'buttons' for things like volume vs a 'real button' is certainly a drawback.
I spent 10mins comparing as an uneducated person and still got a list of differences, yet being in the industry that's your answer?

        • +1

I understand what you mean by your comments, however, as an observer, I can't make that call. For instance, you clearly don't like capacitive buttons for volume, you'd rather the dial button, or at least a resistive button… I'm not the same. My car has a roller volume rocker on the steering wheel, so on my Pioneer DMH-ZF9350BT, the clean edge-to-edge screen is a massive bonus and better than any button.

As far as sound reproduction and clarity, the Pioneer DMH range is a massive improvement on anything they've ever done (save the AVIC range). Their replication, clarity and power production is superior to Sony. The Sony XAV-AX4000, although being a big step for them, is a base-level unit that's been given to the national box moving stores. The version that's been given to the Audio Specialists, the XAV-AX6000 is an improvement. The quality of the internals is one thing that is a massive improvement on the XAV-AX4000 for one.

Another thing to note is the price of the product in the market - the Pioneer DMH-Z6350BT very rarely goes below $625, let alone $595 WITH a free Pioneer RCAMAVIC and free shipping - so that qualifies this offer as something that deserves attention.

But, with everything, it comes down to personal choice and brand loyalty. If someone really wants a certain brand or product, there's no talking them out of it. If you're wanting a unit that looks good in your dash, connects to you phone via USB or wireless, has Bluetooth hands-free capabilities, multiple audio inputs and can be controlled by your factory steering wheel controls, then both units are great. Both do the job. So it ultimately comes down to your wallet, and what brand you like better.

          • @BankstownSoundMarine: Thanks for the more detailed reply. Appreciate the time taken to write up and I can understand the value better now.
Given my vehicle has basic swc (and the car that'll eventually get it doesn't) I do find more value in having physical buttons as you've pointed (but it's not a deal breaker). Have had both brands so quite indifferent personally on loyalty but can't say I'm a fan of the capacitive from prior exp.
Do you have a floor model of the Z6350/av6000 (as you don't stock av4000)?
Would be happy to check out in person prior to deciding

@JDMcarfan: We don’t have them on the boards at the moment as we’re doing a store facelift in Jan. For value for money, I would say the Pioneer, however, for buttons, maybe the Sony is a better bet for you personally?

Please let us know what the free 6.5" speakers and reverse camera model numbers are.

    • Like to know the same, I don't expect anything serious, or else they will be highlighting the models/brands

    • +1

Reverse camera is the Pioneer RCAMAVIC and the speakers are the JVC CS-DR621.

  • Hi Rep,

Will you guys have Kenwood DMX8520DABS on sale anytime soon?

    • Not likely mate, Kenwood's stock as been quite erratic over the past 18-months.

    @BankstownSoundMarine
Would there be any chance that this deal might surface again for Christmas?

    Thank you
