NetGear Orbi RBK753 AX4200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System 3-Pack $786 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

80

Seems like a decent price for the 3-pack.

I have the RBK50 - 3 pack and it has been great for the past three years. I want to upgrade to WiFi 6 myself but will wait for a better price.

Officeworks has it priced at 796$ currently. Could ask them for a price beat and save some extra $$.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

  • I was looking at this or the Asus XT8 but the price wasn’t coming down. I landed on the TP Link XE75 AXE5400 for $614 delivered from TGG Commercial. Reviews have been good so far.

    • Did you notice any improvement in your overall experience moving to WiFi6?

      • The XE is 6e and mine hasn’t arrived yet. I have 3 consoles that play simultaneously with a Synology server, smart devices etc. I like the idea of utilising the 6ghz band as a dedicated wireless backhaul. Then I can plug each console in to their own access point.

Ok price, but given these were released around 1.5 years ago and don’t support WiFi 6E IMHO they should cost a little less by now.

Had these for about a year and quite satisfied with the performance as I've been getting almost 1Gbps over LAN at each of the nodes with a Wireless backhaul (nodes spread across two floors and ~20m). But they lack lot of advanced features offered by competing systems like Asus and TP-Link.

I am holding on for a price tag of around 550$… hoping for some better deals on Cyber Monday

$778 on TGG Commercial. I know not everyone has that but yeah.

so what these can do thats 7x better that my tenda wm3 cant?

  • Can get Asus XT8 for ~$650.
    This or XT8?

    • link?

        • The e-bay link is for a 2-Pack and this one is a 3-pack

          • @snickerz: I know, but it's performance and coverage is much better than Orbi according to reviews.
Asus is X6600, coverage 510 sqm and both devices are identical and have 4 ports.
In my opinion XT8 is better than Orbi just wanted to see what's others experience/opinion…

            • @KB57: I guess the comparable model for XT8 (AX6600) would be the Orbi 852 (AX6000)

Only when comparing against RBK752 (router + 1 x satellite), but not against the RBK753 (router + two satellites). Because that extra satellite can greatly increase your range and speed depending on how you set them up. For example I got the two satellite version because I wanted ethernet ports at two locations. But I have also aligned the three nodes in a straight line (one at the front end of the first floor, one in the middle of the first floor, last one at the back of the ground floor). With that configuration I can get over 800Mbps between the two furthest nodes on either side of the house via the middle node, but if I remove the middle node the speeds drop by almost a half (to below 500Mbps).

  • What advantage does thus system have over something like https://www.amazon.com.au/Tenda-6000sq%C2%B2-Coverage-Gigabi…

    • The Tenda link you have shared is for a Dual Band - WiFi 5 mesh
This is a tri-band WiFi 6 mesh network

      • Is that worth $600 for average family usage? i.e Streaming on one or two devices at a time

        • Really depends on your usage! If your use case is as you defined … then these are definitely too expensive!

        • As @snickerz suggested it really depends on your usage.
So, if you have setup your network on 5Ghz band, it will split 450Mpbs/56.25MBps between communicating with other nodes in the mesh and the rest communicating with the internet. Same goes for 2.4Ghz band but it will split ~300Mbps/ 37MBps bandwidth.

So, unless your usage doesn't require this amount of speed, WIFI 5/ Dual Band should be more than enough for your home network setup

          Hope that helps. Cheers

FYI- ….The most impactful difference is that Wi-Fi 6E devices use a dedicated 6E spectrum with up to seven additional 160 MHz channels while Wi-Fi 6 devices share the same congested spectrum. 6E FTW.

  • Thanks OP, looks like a great deal as price for this mostly been 950$ plus, a bit surprised not many upvotes or comments.
Do you think the price might go a bit lower?

If you can, get the 15% off gift cards tomorrow from coles to bring down the price

I am hoping it does… i am happy with my RBR50 + 2x RBS50 otherwise… dont want to spend this much on an upgrade

      • okay thanks mate, i have the 10% off cards already will pick one up tomorrow

Didn’t get many up votes when I posted a slightly lower price almost a year ago when this was a relatively new product. Now, after almost 1.5 years since the launch and superseded by the AXE range, paying almost $800 IMHO is not such a great deal anymore. Although I admit this price isn’t bad compared to the overinflated Orbi AXE range. Home routers didn’t use to cost $2800!?!?! WTH Netgear !!!

Guess there is not a huge demand for high end expensive mesh systems in Australia, probably due to the lack of popularity and availability of affordable 1Gbps connections.
