I was on the lookout for a UDM-Pro for some time now. This seemed like a great price. 1% surcharge for Card & PayPal payments.

They’re lucky to have you.
Networks with all the right people.
Love Ubiquiti products but their routers are just not reliable enough for business yet. Especially these units with the cloudkey baked in.
What do you mean? What has your experience been like? I am about to get one for a small business setup.
Get a High end TP link or Draytek, once you outgrow it, get a Sophos.
Once you have around 25 staff anyway, you need a router that has 4G integrated fail over etc to ensure your business operations.
Have to disagree there. Aside from the Gen1 cloud key which is unreliable as heck, I've found their kit to be quite good in a business environment. Obviously not Cisco-level, but for 10% of the price, it's a damn compelling offering.
Have installed it into several fairly large environments (multiple switches, dozens of APs, hundreds of end users), and certainly not found it particularly unreliable.
MSP here so have had them across multiple businesses etc of all shapes and sizes, they were at one time our main product.
You'd get devices that need to be factory reset every 3 months that would just shit the bed. We used the cloudkey software package running in AWS so we had an offsite cloud key to re-pair it too and make this process simpler but it still shouldn't happen. This will be worse with a device that is it's own cloudkey such as this one/
Around 1/10 devices we deployed would end up faulty and require an RMA. These days, Sophos FW's are of higher quality and comparable cost in their base package.
In the scheme of things, the value is OK. However, there are just better prouducts on the market.
My honest advice to alot of people is to use a High end TP link or Draytek till their buisness outgrows it, then get something good like a Sophos/Fortigate etc.
I still recommend their AP's though they are unmatched and reliable.
Have found the exact same thing.
Brilliant WiFi, average performance / reliability for anything else.
They keep promising features in firmware and not delivering.
Support is a bit average too.
You get what you pay for I guess.
I'm mostly only a tinkerer, but I still don't like headaches.
The inability to configure detailed local DNS is a big minus, it can be worked around or you can run a separate DNS server but you shouldn't have to.
@virtual81: I am still awaiting a proper keep alive in their site to site VPN. The current one is just not fit for purpose.
Agree, had been using Ubiquiti in a school (P to 12) and constant issues, so went to Fortinet, best decision, I run Ubiquiti at home and its great though

Looking to upgrade from a Cloud Key Gen 2 Plus + USG + US-8-60W switch. Have 6 x UniFi Network APs / UniFi Protect cameras (some on POE injectors which is messy). May add another 1 or 2 in the future.
Main reasons are three fold:
1) need more POE ports though it seems like the UDM Pro doesn’t have any :(
2) USG bit dated
3) planning to put a (very small) rack in comms cupboard to tidy everything up rather than the current mess of spaghetti
Any suggestions? Should I look at the UDM Pro SE since I need more POE ports or something else? :/
For a home setup just grab the UDM pro and a good POE 16 port switch. For home use the USG is pretty solid, I really don't see a reason to upgrade except for "Dat rack aesthetic". You could just get a cool rack mount for your USG?
What would you recommend for good POE 16 port switch? Have UDM Pro at the moment, would it pair ok with the 'high end' TP Link / Draytek you mention above?
POE switches are hard to get at the moment, really just try to find something that has a POE budget and per port power of whatever you need.
@Zondor: Thanks for the reply, yes I don't really want to pay Unifi prices for their POE switches so been holding off. I like how they all integrate under the one solution, but to be honest don't really need it for home use!
Sounds reasonable. Thanks!
I paid $622 on sale back in May, so $609 seems a very good price to me, especially with inflation, continuing supply constraints, etc.
Have found the UDM Pro to be rock solid in my home environment - very happy with the unit, and delighted with the detailed information available through the console (via my PC). Have got my NBN FTTC connected direct to the UDM Pro, from the NBN box.
About the same time, also bought the Unifi Pro 24 port switch, a couple of flex-minis, and 3 x U6-Mesh access points (we have a fairly large house). All have been working flawlessly, and I'm 100% satisfied with how well the access points automatically keep themselves optimally attuned to all our various wireless devices, with me able to see a list via the console of each device's connection status, signal strength, connection quality rating, etc. All quite marvelous!
Went for the U6-Mesh'es as I couldn't be stuffed crawling around in the ceiling trying to get cabling in for ceiling mounted units, plus - being free-standing - the U6-Mesh'es will be way more readily re-locatable as and when necessary, and also a lot easier to upgrade with new units (eg. when WiFi 7 eventually arrives).
Thanks… Mother in Law's birthday coming up…
