ADATA DDR5 4800MHz 8GB (1x 8GB) RAM OEM $49 + Delivery ($0 NSW, QLD, SA C&C) @ PCByte

430

Hi All,

thought this was worth a share, yes it is slow, but its not as big a deal as you may think. ( https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/ddr5-ryzen-7-7700-ddr5… )

The significance is this drastically lowers the price of entry to the AMD AM5 platform, especially considering recent posts of AM5 motherboards at 255 ( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736089 ) and Ryzen 5 7600X for $389 ( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736301 ). With two of these modules (technically you could get away with 1…) you can now get onboard the platform for $742. Down about $350 in a month.

That said, black Friday is only a few weeks away :)

2 or 4 of these might be good if you're planning to early adopt 7000 series with the BPC tech deal
You could just use these until good DDR5 stops being twice as expensive.

  • 7000 series also has an on-board iGPU. Not as good as the GPU in the 5600G though.

  • These are bulk/OEM sticks, so no packaging FYI.

They come in large, black trays in bunches of 50 or so from distributor.

“Yes, these are slow”… checked my PC I think DDR 3 ?

  • Anyone know whether this is Micron or SK Hynix or Samsung? I am guessing Micron.

  • According to ''Actual hardcore Overclock'' Youtube channel
-Never buy 8gb(1 stick) ddr5 for gaming
-yes this is 100% micron (atm)
    -Yes these are slow AF
-dont even have room for OC compare to 16Gb die chip for the same model (which is also micron) for 69/79$
    - deal of this brand with 16Gb showed here coue time already, so Hodl is an option

But yeah this is good for a spare ram to test when your rig f*** up

Also I saw someone posted 2x16Gb rgb ddr5 5600mhz cl 32 confirmed hynix for 269$, it is way better deal than this

It also costs almost 3 times as much. As I say, this lowers the point of entry, $269 memory does not.

If you considering, its 67.25/8gb. If you dont want to spend 269$ then I already suggest hodl for the 16Gb version which is on sale 69$ last time, make any sense? And if you want to know how big difference between 8gb stick and 16gb stick just check google.

I didnt mean to say the deal was bad, its just not worth it for some one who actually use for gaming and some productivity task as it is slow, i mean really slow

@kinkara: Ok, so I googled it, and despite a lot of people talking lots and testing little, this review was the best example of a direct comparison. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IstA56IAeVA

I dunno, its not that much of a set back, but it is another hinderance to getting on board with this new platform. I'm researching my next upgrade now ready to pull the trigger on black Friday, and am really starting to lean towards just getting a 5600 AM4 system and throwing the rest of the budget on a graphics card, that's where I'll get the most benefit.

    TIL 4800mhz is slow

    • The issue is the CL 40
That gives it a real latency of around 16.7ns
The super expensive 6000CL30 RAM all the reviewers are using has a real latency of about 10ns.
Don't know how much this translates into a performance difference because afaik, no one has tested the new Ryzen CPUs with RAM this slow. Slowest I could find was 5200CL36, which has a real latency of about 13.8ns, on top of the slightly higher transfer speeds.

Thanks for sharing, I tried to prove my point in previous comment but seem like some people dont understand price/performance work
The 16Gb version of this ram can OC 5500mhz cl38 stable with almost all setting on auto, not sure about latency yet. the price on sale last time 69$ was not bad at all for this
OC tutorial Base on Buildzoid channel
        https://youtu.be/OAL8q2qaqWE

the Hynix ram deal was quite good as well if you tweak it abit, not very hard if you follow oc guild. Hynix m die memory can easily do 6000mhz which is good deal for new ryzen build and only 17$/ 8Gb more than this.

  • Dells use this ram in the xps 8950

Fancy ram is a FWOT&M imo
