    Can you buy gift card?

    • +1

Yes, Do you know if they sell coles myer ?

    • The terms and conditions say gift cards are excluded. But this may differ in reality - I'll give it a try…

    • +2

In the Bano app it says gift cards are excluded.

  • +3

Awesome, thanks, this will help reduce my home renovation bills

    What's a Bano

    • +2

Bano? I only heard of a pano, in a very old story. An executive on holiday telegraphed his assistant asking for a cano and 4 punts. She messaged him back saying “… the ladies are on their way. What the f is a pano?”

    • -2

      It's a shitter mate. Baño

  • Bano feels like a more polished version of Revolut.
Yet to sign up… Is it better or just a clone of Revolut?

    • at the moment, its much better if you utilise the split bills feature.

      • +1

Have you for any good rebates from that?

    • Looks far less polished than Revolut to me judging by the awful sign up method.

      • At least their deals are honoured.

  • how do these type of business make money? is it like a cc you get?

    • +2

I assume the business model hopes that you'll use the card for all your purchases and store your savings in there? Doesn't work for ozbargainers though. I'll be depositing $580 in there to take full advantage of this offer

    • +16

they don't need to make money, they just need investors to believe they will

    • +2

They don't need to make money now, they are just spending money to grow the customer base.

  • I know when I last used Bano for one of these promos, I was able to get gift cards and purchase all at once. Does anyone know if that's still the case?

I know the T&Cs state no gift cards and once per day, but does anyone know if that is enforced? Otherwise I'll give it a go next week sometime

  • +1

    Never heard of it?

  • +1

Can someone explain how this works? Do I need to apply for a Bano Visa card then add cash to it? The lab can I use that Bano card from my wallet to pay for things at Bunnings?

    • +2

Just pay with your Bano Card (either physical or apple/google wallet). You should get the cashback immediately, else keep the receipt and get support to credit the cashback.

      • Thanks so I have a virtual Bano card in my
Wallet. Is this like a debit card? As in do I need to add funds to my account first? Or is it a credit card?

        • +1

its a debit card. you need to fund it.

  • Wow!!! Just in time. I need to get some concrete sealer and a few other things.

  • Any reviews on Barno? Its 1.8% Cashback looks good, better than 2% Cashback from HSBC I think because there is no limit on transaction size

    • +2

It says "up to 1.8%". From the FAQ: The percentage of cashback returns relies on different factors such as, but not limited to: type of transaction made, who the merchant is, and currency used. These factors determine the percentage of cashback is received and is not decided by Bano. However, unlike most banks where their major income comes from commission fees, Bano's feature of cashbacks ensures that all the commission is shared with the Bano users.

Will need stats from people who have actually used this card before.

      • It's quite low. Highest I've gotten back was probably like 0.3% across many different transactions (value, merchant etc)

  • How intrusive is the identity checking process for BANO?

    • Standard KYC. drivers licence and face id.

  • Does anyone know who owns Bano? There's not much in the way of media releases and very little on Crunchbase

  • Is anyone here a customer of bano, how are they compared to other similar companies?

    • pretty good promos but features are simple af, its kinda like revolut but cleaner

  • -1

do they do a credit check?

    • No credit check as you aren't apply for a credit card.

  • Around 20% off Bunnos is not bad at all

  • I tried installing Bano on my Mac and after installing all the blurb about it in the Mac App Store app went to Chinese writing.

Says check the FAQ for how the 'up to 1.8%' cash back works - no FAQ

Ok, looks like it's only designed for a phone. It asks to set a password when they actually mean a 6 digit pin!

Asks for Tax ID which I presume means Tax File Number (why not use that term?)

  • -1

Are there fees for using this BANO?

  • -1

Anyone else having trouble downloading the app?

  • +2

    Dónde está el baño?

    • You forgot to add please.

Dónde está el baño, por favor?

Congratulations to the Bano marketing team for their amazing choice of brand name.

  • One thing I find no credit card can do yet is have a legit foreign address. I often buy parts from the USA and have them sent to a US freight forwarder. The retail supplier will only accept credit card or Paypal, and those that do accept wire transfers, it is more trouble than it is worth. Credit cards fail validation because the address is not my address in Australia, so Paypal it is along with their outrageous Forex charges. No credit card I've come across can do it, not even the new Revolut card.

    • Have you tried 28 Degrees/Latitude?

    • +3

You can change the payment currency in PayPal checkout, it stops it using PayPal conversion and charges your Pyment method in the currency you're shopping.

  • Do they support Osko and PayID transfers?

  • +1

Just tried to register but noticed they don’t even have EV for identity checks. Umm

    • -1

      what's EV?

  • +3

Considering the fact they require customers to verify their identity and that there have been a lot of data breaches lately, I think I’m probably better off passing on this deal. There is no point risking identity theft to save a few bucks for a one-off promo.

  • +1

I see under their Help Center FAQ there is a $150 AUD account opening processing fee. Do we need to pay that?

    • That’s for international users. Don’t think it would apply here.

      • Thanks

  • Will this work for click and collect and/or delivery?

    • In-store only.

    • Just ordered something online but did not get the cash back. But for the previous KFC cashback deal it did work with app order.

      • Did you manage to sort this out?

  • +1

It works with Bunning's giftcard. I added a small items with my transaction and $20 cashback instantly

    • great thanks.

    • How long did it take you to get your cash back. I spent $100, part on gift cards part of other items and I did t get anything back

      • It should be instant, best to send them a message in the app so they can fix it.

        • +1

Or they’ve blocked the purchase of gift cards, even though it worked for the user above

        • Did they ever reply to the messages? I sent mine two or three days ago - no response.

  • anyone know if you can use powerpass and a bunnings gift card?

    • You can still pay for your purchases with a Bunnings Gift Card at the checkout, if you scan your powerpass card.

  • The Bano chat support is claiming you have to go to chat and upload receipts now to get the cash back!!! Sounds like a scam to me

    • +2

same same - no cashback and they want a copy of the receipt

      • +1

Yep. And then the cash back came through and they cancelled it 1 minute later. C%nts

        • So in the end you didn't get the cashback, right? Did you send in receipt? I meant how do they know what we bought without seeing receipt?

          • +2

@bbking18: I wonder if they are using that as a way to weed out people who buy gift cards.

            • +2

              @salekhard: They probably are

            • @salekhard: I think they definitely are. Cashback from Bano supposed to be instant. Now they make people upload receipts to claim missing cashback. If people bought giftcards they just deny cashback.

              • @bbking18: Yep - I guess that's their T&Cs. Ill just buy some paint.

        • Seems like a scam - or more accurately a waste of time.
At least I have a $100 Bunnings gift card - which I pay $100 for - not really a bargain.
I'll spend the balance of my bano account at the supermarket and close my account.

    • Thanks for letting us know. I have no use for this card or for deal then.

  • Anyone recall how long it took for Bano to verify your application? Been over a day for me and no update..

    • +1

It’ll take them a couple of days to verify your id and once that’s done, they’ll ask you to confirm your address by uploading your utility bills/methods similar to that…
      Altogether probably 3-5 working days.

    • +1

Actually, if you need to get your account live asap. Maybe send them a copy of your power/water bill now, unprompted.
Maybe that will speed things up for you…
I lost out on a promotion they had on last month coz I didn’t know how their onboarding process works.

  • +4

    Just a heads up
For anyone that’s keen on signing up with Bano, you should do that as early as possible, as it takes a few days to be fully signed up with them.

    • +2

Just found this out myself. Signed up on Sunday and still waiting for the application to be approved. Bugger!

  • Bought a $100 Gift card and so far no cashback. Will message them if it doesn't come through by tomorrow morning

Anyone know if they have anythung that is exactly $100, so I can say I bought that?

    Edit: guess I bought this

  • Do you need to get the bank visa card to pay for the Bunnings purchase or can you just load your own money into it?

    • You top up money on your Bano account first..

  • Still waiting for approval in the app, but not once have I ever been questioned about returning items at Bunnings or what card I used to purchase. If the gift cards dont work, surely you could purchase something around $100, then return it and credit a different card…?

    • surely you could purchase something around $100, then return it and credit a different card…?

Not a good way to go about life imo
And doing all of that for $20 ?

      • +1

Fair enough…not much different trying to scam 20% off gift cards when the terms say you cant though…

  • +3

It made me download an apk. Maybe cos of my browser. Pretty weird, the app is on Google Play if anyone comes across this.
    Don't download apks.

  • +1

Bought >$100 of items. No instant cashback. Had to lodge ticket and then share my receipt. They said cashback will be received by end of the week. I guess im going to have to do this manually each time.

  • +5

The wording of the rules have changed today… they removed the wording "instant Cashback to your Bano account"
Also beware that you need to now pay the full amount of the receipt using only the Bano card and not in conjunction with any other cards…

    • Damn, i did $100 with bano and the rest on another card yesterday

    • Also noticed the removal of “instant”.

    • Shocker, I am not going to bother with this offer now.

  • +2

    Applied on 12/11
    Approved on 15/11
First purchase at bunnings made on 15/11
Referral bonus $10 credited straight after the first purchase on 15/11

Now waiting on the $20 cash back for my bunnings spending.

    • +1

$20 cash back received on 17/11

      • Did you have to upload the receipt to the support chat or attach it to transaction?

  • Bano has been great so far for me with all the cashbacks but I’m really disappointed reading the comments.

It’s so strange how these companies doesn’t analyse the size of the promo beforehand and change their T&C later
