ive used these before. never again they take forever to heat up and they dont hold heat long. do not reccomend.

    • I just used them this weekend. I agree, they take forever to heat up! took solid 25 mins vs usual 15 mins … in saying that, they seemed to burn for bit longer.

  • I've only ever read bad reviews of these

  • not a big fan of briquettes …. they are like highly processed cereals, good for a quick fix only if you are hungry. not horrible, but i don't like it.

    i use logs almost exclusively.

if you think it takes too long, invest in a chimney starter and a portable electric blower.

    • My 2 grills are miniature so the smaller size works fine.
I've never looked back since getting one of these https://www.bunnings.com.au/jumbuck-3-7l-bbq-charcoal-starte…

      • i got this and recently an electric blower, it's like putting everything on a supercharger. my first time using the blower, it got way too hot too fast. lol.

    • By logs do you mean roboturds or actual wood?

      • these but different brands https://www.bbqspitrotisseries.com.au/charcoal

also use actual wood, but more for smoking.

not sure what roboturds is because in my mind thats what briquettes is. highly processed.

edit: yeah. i'm not using 'roboturds', that's just briquettes in a different shape not sure why it deserves a different name.

        • Ah yeah, you mean lump. Lump is good but doesn’t really work for snake/minion methods. Coconut shell briquettes from heat beads go good, burn clean and hot.

          • @Cheaplikethebird: ah i'm a simple person, I chuck in logs, set them on fire, monitor temps and chuck in more if needed. I probably could find/learn more about the methods.. but that would mean investing time (and sometimes food waste) to experiment.

            • @slowmo: Snake / minion mentioned above will save you time on longer cooks, worth learning.

              • @OzBragain: oh for sure, I have no doubt it is a beneficial method. I'm just saying I don't do BBQ cooking that often enough (or long enough per session) to require that level of intervention.

  • Good price but I haven't seen these ones at my local Coles.

  • Better off burning the bag they come in than these.

    • These guys lasted way longer than the bag for me.

  • Did a great job tonight cooking some Scotch Fillets on my Heston Cube.
