Yeah ofc! I'll contact the person regarding that but that's odd

      • It'd be nice if you would!

Shipping to 6210? Really wish companies would stop making people fill everything in before listing the shipping cost.

    • +5

Definately a pet peeve of mine, surely can't be impossible to add calculator in the quote page before I have to fill out A A A [email protected] on forms

      • +2

Especially living in WA. 99% of "deals" aren't deals here— once the shipping is added. On a lot of items, the shipping is double (or more) than the item cost. We know that the shipping can be calculated first, as many sites have it.

      • +7

        A A A [email protected]

        Stop using Fonzie’s email.

    • Shipping to me (Adelaide) is only $19 for 2 laptops, so not bad at all.

      • +1

        Which twos are you buying?

        • I was just checking postage cost of two of the originally advertised Elitebook.
Just did another for a single Pavillion 15" and shipping was $15.48.

    Intel HD Graphics 520, Core i5 6300u 2.40Ghz, Memory 8Gb

Is this really a deal? Bought a refurbed 15inch 1080p thinkpad with these specs for $60 7-8 years ago… The only thing it has on that is an SSD.

I don't really understand what laptop manufacturers are doing. Essentially no value increase in the sub $1k market in the last decade, until you get to dedicated GPU's. It's not even worth the time to be looking at a $3-400 laptop let alone a refurb "deal" like this.

    • +5

      Bought a refurbed 15inch 1080p thinkpad with these specs for $60 7-8 years ago…

Are you sure? The chipset was released 2015 (7 years ago), and was $281 at RRP… How did you get a refurbed 1080p laptop with this then-brand new chipset for $60? Unless you were buying it second hand off someone who didn't know much about computers.

      • +5

Probably missing 0 at the back…. almost bought dual core laptops from many refub deals recently but lucky someone remind me dual core nowadays isn't that good

      • +4

He's got a DeLorean with flux capacitor 😂

        • +9

          No he doesn't.

          • +3

            @McFly: 😂😂 username checks out 😎👍

    • +2

We're up to 12th Gen Intel CPUs, so 6 years ago this 6th Gen CPU was brand new.
There's no way you paid this money for a brand new laptop!

      • +1

        He did say

        Bought a refurbed 15inch 1080p thinkpad

But even then I don't see how he would have gotten it for so cheap

        • +1

could have been the monitor, but a bit weird for 15" monitor at 1080p… XD

    • Elitebooks are so much nicer than Thinkpad.(I have one for work and a personal one here, really well built)

      • But mine i feel its heavy

        • +1

Probably as they are metal. I dont carry mine very often in all fairness so its not something I have picked up on.

      • +1

        This is heavy… apparently.

  • Wait there's latitude laptops with mx 130s? Damn, I should've got that, that's a fantastic deal.

Edit: wait there's latitude's with hd TN screens? Nvm, waste of a mx 130 lol.

  • HP? Never again.

    • I've had issues with HP durability
Overheating and key caps falling out, even after replacing new by HP tech support

      • Yeah mines overheating too lately doing minor tasks.

In saying that it's like 12 years old and been thrashed. I cleaned all the dust from fan, vent. Thermal paste on CPU and still no luck.

I'm due for upgrade waiting on t480 to be in stock. Hopefully soon

    • Stop buying the povo consumer models then. Commerical is where the good quality HP laptops are at.

      • +1

Still not good for the brand reputation and experience

I've owned old consumer Acers that were more solid

      • my 2012 HP ProBook 4730s is solid like a tank - doesn't overheat - the only key that looks loose is the Windows key but it ain't coming off even if I try to pull it.

milady's new consumer ASUS feels scary flexi plastic by comparison - so I'll keep riding my tank until it gets a missile … ;-)

  • +1

The track pad on these really shows its age and you won't enjoy using it if you've used a newer track pad lately. Otherwise they were a pretty well built machine. I'd expect the battery to do almost nothing for you so don't go far from the charger.

  • +2

Also worth noting the RAM is easily upgradable and they're generally easy to service.

    • +3

      And also cheap.

  • Rookie question here… which would be best value for $$ out of all the laptops listed on sale? Looking to replace my dad's core 2 duo dell laptop that I bought over a decade ago, guess it's time to replace it

    • +4

The Thinkpad T460 is okay. FHD resolution and the processor should be enough for web browsing.

      • +2

Definitely think the T460 is the pick of the bunch especially if its the one with the Geforce 940MX rather than the integrated graphics. Any way you could clarify which it is OP?

        • +1

Thanks, just grabbed one based on your comment

        • Curious as well, says either integrated or geforce gfx cards. Is it luck of the draw or typo?

  • You can justify 1366 x 768 on the 12 inch laptop deals that come around, but it's pretty blurry on 14"

    • +1

They actually look quite nice, come down and definitely have a look as well!

      • Where located address

        Can't see on site

        • +1

@capslock janitor You might want to get your eye-sight checked, it's on their FAQ

          Where are we located?
Our Shop/Distribution Centre is 30/15 Earsdon Street, Yarraville

          Also Google

          • @Empharand: Why the snarky comment, not an eyesight thing
usually it's easily available at endpage or Contact us, not hidden after a wall of FAQ

            • @capslock janitor: Because you said (and I quote) 'can't see on site' not can't see on end page or contact us, therefore I gathered that you didn't look very well at all…

    • +2

768p isn't blurry by any means on a 14" display, unless your face is hovering right over the laptop keyboard. By no means ideal and hard to compare to a 1080p display, but for this price you can't complain.

      Source: own a 768p laptop and a 1080p monitor

  • +1

We had a bunch of these at work, they aren't that good unfortunately.
Resolution, battery life, responsiveness, camera and mic quality all not good.

  • My workplace just eWaste/recycled about 100 of this exact model for $20 a pop, with the power adaptor included. Granted, the time to refurb them and suss out the ones that were too shit to be resold would result in wanting to resell them for about $200 each.

  • Hi there, looking for the HP Elitebook x360 1040 G6, any chance these are on the cards anytime soon?

  • +2

For my 72 year old mother who wants a bigger screen, any recommendation between the Dell E5490 listed here, or this one?
    https://reebelo.com.au/products/dell-latitude-5490-14-fhd-i-…

She’s by no means a power user, but i want to give her an 8-Gen Win-11 so no issues going forward.
(She is very fit and will outlive support for W10!!).

  • +1

Everyone at my work uses these and our IT dept claims they purchased them two years ago 😂

  • I wish product descriptions included whether they supported being charged by USB C.

    • +2

My wife has a g4 which doesn't. So given these are an earlier model I think unlikely

    • +2

Given they released circa 2016, i would definitely say no.

I vaguely remember only see laptops with USB C charging released around early 2020.

      • I had added USB-C charging on HP laptops next to coax DC before 2020 - but the spec for this G3 says 'USB-C basic' i.e. no PD power delivery. Range of processors, screens, and wireless cards tho.

        https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-elitebook-840-g3-not…

        USB-C is an unholy mess.

        https://www.kitguru.net/desktop-pc/anton-shilov/not-all-usb-…

we thought USB-C power would be the savior when HP laptops were refreshed to different thinner HP laptops with thinner coax power sockets. It wasn't, but we could buy coax power adapters in bulk to still use the power supplies fixed to our desks with the bigger connectors.

people lost their coax power dongles. USB-C PD wouldn't charge.

        Work was hell.

        Still is, for different reasons.

    • I have experience of a number of HP laptops and usb-c charging. Eventually, I gave up on my fully-charged laptop dying when left overnight plugged into HP's own usb-c power supply, and used the coax power socket with an older HP power supply instead - which was still there, because obviously even their engineers didn't trust their usb-c code.

A whole bunch of EFI/BIOS updates later, HP's usb-c charging is still flaky.

HP laptops may be a great corporate deal to lease cheaply, but for personal use I'd want something better.

      • My two year old HP Chromebook is dead as it won't charge through USBC, the only way it can be charged. Any ideas how I could bring it back to life?

        • Inability to charge could be due to a dead battery. However, regardless of official warranties, 2 years is within the expected lifespan of a laptop so you should be able to still claim warranty to fix it.

      • @mantichoral LOL what a load of bullocks.

  • Rep, possible to upgrade the DELL OPTIPLEX 7040M MICRO with inbuilt wifi?

  • +1

Very tempting. Just wish it had a touchscreen

  • How long does it take from order to shipping and delivery (to metro city) ?

  • 'not a fully convincing package with the TN panel (1920 x 1080)' -
'the TN panel with its limited viewing angles, poor contrast and low color accuracy is not a good choice for this price range' - https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-EliteBook-840-G3-Notebook-R…

otherwise it came back as attractively priced for a 2016 pro 14" Win11 16GB 500GB laptop for $425 (including 1-6 days $15 shipping) delivered to Sydney

7th generation - current new may be 13th generation (for Halloween?) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_EliteBook

meh - I'm still happy with my old 17" - and 14" feels like once you go big you never go back - not sure but a bit leery of the comments about USB-C charging being a PITA … ? I only use plugged in to power and is that a problem ?

  • HPs and Lenovos sold out.

  • +1

When do you think you will be getting some new Dell or Lenovo micros with options to upgrade RAM and SSD?

  • Hi Rep, any chance of you guys getting more of the Lenovo T460? T460S or T470 laptops of special ? They’re all sold out now.

  • Ordered on Saturday and got the confirmation immediately. Haven't heard anything since (want to pick up) and they are not replying an email / facebook chat (they don't have a phone number). I thought it would be fairly quick to say the stock is ready for pick up?

    • @FuseTechAu cancelled my order I placed a couple of days ago.

    • +1

Hi, it was the weekend so we don't send out replies then. You should receive one today/tomorrow!
