JFF 2023 Presents: Mikio Naruse - An Unsung Master of Japanese Cinema

The Japanese Film Festival 2023 proudly presents this FREE series of rare 35mm film screenings of master filmmaker Mikio Naruse’s works at the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra.
The films featured in the series shine a light on Naruse’s poignant observation of the growing tension surrounding familial and societal conformities in a changing, post-war era of Japan–a theme that pervades the director’s remarkably crafted body of work.

From the 5th - 6th November the NFSA in Canberra will screen Naruse's films:

Don't miss this chance to see these rare and masterful films on the big screen! Reserve your FREE tickets on the JFF website

Note: Walk-in screenings are also available throughout November at QAGOMA, Brisbane

    Thanks

The website is completely useless. There's no information about what time, what date, or where this thing is being held. How do they expect anybody to attend?

Click on the title of the movie. Scroll down. Has date and time. Reserve tickets. Search for NFSA in your mapping application to find the location.

      • Thank you, I gave up too easily. I feel like you shouldn't have to scroll down multiple screens to find the most important information for an event - the location, date and time, or the second most important, how to book tickets

    • Each movie has session times for Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
Select a movie, click, then choose city.

  • Thanks Op, got a ticket for Sunday. Ozbargain meetup anyone?

      Why not attend these instead?

      • Why not both? Thanks for the heads up though, I'll try to make one of them.

  • Screens in: Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney
Brisbane - 2 screenings of each - just walk in.
Melbourne & Sydney bookings not open yet.
Click on movie for dates & location.

Enjoyed the classic Japanese films at previous screenings👍
