Don’t expect to hammer anything on these. OK for keeping regular tools on display for easy access.

Has anyone been able to build this thing the sliding draw simply won't go in? Shonky quality

  • I regret mine

  • If you've been able to build it can you reply or pm me

Honestly you are better off getting some bunnings Rack-It in either 400kg or 1000kg ratings.

Or just go on gumtree and get some old pallet racking. This stuff is just small and crappy.

    • I used the HD racking from Bunnings and 16mm MDF doubled up for counter top.

They say 600kg per shelf, but that's ridiculous claims, but it's sturdy and holds more than I could lift or carry

looks like about $10 worth of materials went into making these

Building your own workbench is a right of passage. Don't buy this crap.

Extra points for building with reclaimed materials too.

    • I don't think I've ever had workbenches that were not previously kitchen benches. Does the job and free.

  • Every time these pop up I'm temped to buy a few, bolt them together and to the wall, screw on a long common bench top with a lip and illuminate with LED strip lights. My Dad installed several SCA shelving units in his garage. If you reinforce and secure them it works out to be quite a sturdy and affordable solution. If I recall correctly he bolted them to the wall and used pop rivets to reinforce the uprights.

    • but by the time you do all that, you are out more money and effort than just buying bunnigns racks, or racks off gumtree.

  • why doi need werkbench serr

In stock form, I've stood on these, so I know they take beyond 100KG on the benchtop easily.

Then, with the addition of 2 layers of yellowtongue, I've hammered, drilled, and shaped metal for hours with no issues.

I rate these highly; purely because building a nice drawer like these have is an exercise in frustration (for me).

    • hope u have private health insurance or ambulance cover

      • I'm an Australian citizen, I dont need those.
