  • Is it nationwide by any chance?

    • run the stock checker

in syd. some no stock, no varied low stock

      some well stocked

      • +1

Yeah but they are not discounted.

        • FWIW, Pacific Fair shows up as full price on the website despite being the discounted store.

      • Sorry what is stock checker ?

        • I believe they mean “find in store” on the item to see if they have any left, but that won’t confirm that that particular shop also has the prices reduced.

        • there is a website separate to the store that can do a full store check on any product across the nation. Used a lot for Officeworks specials to see what stock is in other stores quickly on one page. I can't remember the name but I think its something like check stock or instock or something like that… one of the other OzBargainers will know the URL.

    • +1

Big W Woden (ACT) has most of these TV’s. They’re all the same price as online. I checked the price with the barcode scanner.

Seems like this is unique to the Pacific Fair store.

      • Thanks for this

  • +1

I think you mean 55" to 75" (" means inch, ' means feet)

    • +23

Doesn't sound like you're all for someone buying a cheap TV then lol.

Of course there's going to be a difference between a $300 65" and $3k 65". The very fact of 65" being sold for $339 though is impressive.

        • +10

Actually getting twice what you pay for considering they're half price :)

doesnt live up to your cheap standards.

Lmao I feel like this was supposed to be an attack but it makes no sense. If you had cheap standards, you would have appropriate expectations of a $300 65" TV. All TVs break, if this lasts 2 years it would be financially equivalent to a $3K 65" TV lasting 20 years.

        • +5

Thanks for testing each one long term and giving us a review 👍

        • +1

Have you ever noticed that we base our assessment of others almost entirely on how closely their thinking matches our own?
          Belgarath the Sorceror

    • They're honestly not that bad in terms of raw picture quality. You will probably want to add a sound system and Google TV box anyway

    • +1

Yes. I visit people and their TVs every day. I feel sorry for how bad some UXs are.
      Especially TCLs that crap out.

      • I have a tcl. Had it for two years and its great

      • +1

Are people in this site really gonna complain about the smart TV software, the easiest part to remedy?

    • +1

  • +10

Those are insane prices! Nice find OP.

  • -5

Something something what you paid for

    • +2

Full price of even the cheapest TV is $679. If one was paying that much, yes but technically you can get double what you paid for as it's half price XD

    • +2

Horses for courses. There are applications where you don't need a high end TV and one of these would work fine.

      • +25

        this is me

i have a $275 Linsar 50" 4k… and it spends its life running Bluey at 720p

i dont think the person watching it is going to care about that or a OLED $3k panel

        • -2

Show your kid true blacks on an OLED and they might never go back to LED

  • +7

Judging by the reviews on productreview.com.au, you must be very brave to buy EKO tv, even on these prices.

    • +6

There are JVC, Polaroid and Dgtec TVs too. Places like productreview are negatively biased as people will more likely post a negative rather than a positive review.

The expectation is for it to run flawlessly and if it does they won't normally review.

      • +3

Unless you are James Stroud of Stroud homes and threaten legal action for negative reviews or stop competing your home if you don't take down the review. 😂

      • +3

my DGTEC blew up in front of my eyes lol

        • +7

More realistic than VR and 4D cinemas :D

        • is it after you played IMF message that it self destructs after 30 secs?

      • I have a Polaroid 32 inches tv from Big W. I have had for like 5 years… it works.

It is old and not smart tv… but connected to a telstra tv. So no complaints.

      • -1

        Shouldnt a tv run flawlessly?

        • +1

          Shouldnt a tv run flawlessly?

You are missing their point completely.

    • +2

What can go wrong with buying these tvs with this price point?
If you get 1 year of life, it probably already paid off whatever it costed.
If it doesn’t, you will probably be able to get refund.

    • +2

We have a 50" EKO TV at home since 2 years that almost treated like a Radio - running all the time on a firestick. never had any issues (touchwood).

      • I watched a 50" EKO TV die before my eyes. 18 months old.

        • RIP

        • Thats sad man. But in my case, for the 299 I paid, its well worth the price mate. My mum uses it for atleast 7 to 8 hrs per day, even when shes cooking, it runs like a radio lol.

    • +1

I've have 2x 42" EKO's in the kids rooms for nearly 3 years and they've been faultless, yeah they might be a bit slow to turn on and load up but they work perfectly and for their price I can't complain what so ever

    • I had a 58" QLED EKO die on me last year after six months, backlight just gave out. EKO support was pretty useless so I ended up (politely but firmly) arguing with Big W to get an equivalent JVC replacement. It's been solid since. YMMV.

    • I've had my 65 eko tv for years and bought it 2nd hand. Still love it. Would happily upgrade all my other tvs to eko

    • Have a cheap JVC tv from Big W in the holiday place that has had 4 plus years of use. Terrible remote. Better on Firestick than native tv tuner.

Happy with it for a price that was.like this. Only gets turned on then just use Firestick remote.

      • i got my mum a firestick and it turns on the tv using its remote via HDMI ARC

    • I have a 75" and it's fine.

Also a seiki 65" I got from target sale.

  • +3

For $499 I would buy an Eko 75" QLED. But Gold Coast is a bit far

    • I got a K75USW from Waverly Gardens for $699 yesterday. Pretty sure it was the last of that model in stock, new in box. They did have another on display but it was faulty.

They had a 65" around $350 (was marked as half price so that might let you guess model) and several other at similar discounts. Some were display stock not sure if they had many others new in box.

I also visited the Eastland store in Ringwood and they didn't seem to have clearance prices.

  • Tempting for the QLED, anyone know the refresh rate? Had a look but couldn't find anything

    • +1

      Buy first…..

    • +2

Assume every tv is 60hz unless stated otherwise.

    • -1

What refresh rate did you think you were going to get for $500?

  • +5

    OP clearly not broden

    • Lol was tempting

  • +1

Anyone else find any other store apart from this one to have clearance?

    • Waverly Gardens in Victoria. I'd call them for stock levels though…. wasnt much left and its out the back. They will sell you display stock but I wouldn't. I got a 75" new in box which I think was the last one.

  • -7

Be warned anything discounted at big w clearance stock… Meaning they'll not honour returns As long as fair trading exists on consumer rights I disagree on clearance stock.

    • +17

Buying clearance stock does not negate your consumer rights.

The only thing is it can’t be returned for simple change of mind.

        • +5

Oh look, the bullshitter is back for another round. Aren't I just so nice giving you the attention and reactions you crave?

        • lol, You have no idea what you are talking about.

They will not allow change of mine returns for clearance stock. That has nothing to do with honouring warranty which they obviously do.

    • Elaborate more on the link between BigW not honouring returns on clearance stock & consumer rights?

      • I think they're implying that if you buy something on clearance and it breaks, big w won't honour the warranty, won't refund replace etc. And you have to get ACC involved to chase them up.

  • I called another store that has stock but not on clearance there.

    • +1

Wasn't on clearance at Highpoint VIC either.

      • did you ask if they would match it ?

        • No, it was just a brief over-the-phone exchange.

          • @TeddyBear: Thursday 3/11/22 I tried Ringwood - no obvious clearance, and Waverly Gardens - clearance but little stock remain. New in box are out the back. display stock is for sale but I would not be interested.

    Don't buy cheap Android tv's.

Do you want a TV that needs to be power cycled atleast once a week? What about one that has 30 second lag on volume changes?

You'll also need an actual Android TV box or it will jam and hang up repeatedly and desyncronise audio to video.

I have a 50 inch my bedroom and I hate it and will be replacing it with a Sony. It's 4 times the price but the cheap one isn't worth the stress.

    • +2

flipside is you should just get a android stick or pc stb and use that

your expectation is that the inbuilt smart tv functions are rubbish, i know that's seems counter productive buying a smart tv and not using the 'smart' but really, i expect the android onboard to be no good, and the sound to be no good

i always use a set of 2.1 logitechs or a full on surround system anyway

      • I have one and the default ui experience is rubbish. Changing channels and changing volume, just getting the TV on to a hd channel are all a problem.

That said I've just tried Ozymandias' recommendation recommendation below and on a 30 second trial it seemed to help.

    • +4

If the panel is fine, get a Chromecast with google tv. They are the best value app device ATM. Beats most premium tv OS experiences

    • +12

Top tip: activate developer mode, disable animations, and set it to only run 1 process in the background. Totally changed my JVC Android TV, now it's actually pretty zippy.

      • +2

Just gave it a try and it seems to have helped. I'll see how it goes after a couple of weeks.

        But thanks for the recommendation.

      • Yep that or install a 3rd party launcher like wolf launcher instead.

Much less laggy, much less application issues and a much better experience on my eko tv then the new lagfest android tv home with suggestions and ads and even better than the stock home with apps only.

      • How do you activate developer mode?

        • +2

Settings > Device Preferences > About > click ‘Build’ at the bottom a bunch of times

    • Must be faulty I've not had that experience with 3 different android TV"a.

    • My condolences on you settling for a Sony

  • +1

    Any discounted in Perth?

    • Following

  • Anyone know whether any Sydney stores selling at this price

  • 68 likes for 16 TVs that were on sale at 2PM

    • +1

I have seen more likes for a bunch of fruits in some market.

  • Not bad, but if buying a TV this cheap definitely recommend getting a sound bar or something. I bought my mum a Hisense 65” 4K TV picture was really good but speakers were terrible but still I paid $650 for it so can’t complain considering my Samsung 4K TV cost more then double that!

  • Man. Been tempted to try the 75" pro eko for a while. Will see if Maroochydore has this tomorrow morning.

Had a 75" webos eko for 2 years. Going strong still (used with a sound bar and media pc)

    • If they do, ask them to put one to the side for you (me) to come back and get later.

    • One small note on the 75. I bought and returned one as it was advertised as 100HZ. Turns out its that while the tv can interpolate and smooth lower refresh rate sources like TV or Blu-ray (which looks pretty good TBH) the input is only rated to 30HZ.

Both a firestick and xbox would refuse to run at 4k because of the 30hz refresh. No idea if the one you are talking about has that problem. The EKO 65 i have certainly did not.

  • hint, don't use the escalators to move these, there's a weird white roof bit coming off the G escalator. Seen someone get a corner of theirs stuck after using a trolley.
