Are they trying to deflect from increasing their coffee price 100%?

    • +8

I taste bitterness in your comment as well as their coffee.

    • +1

I still go there for coffee when I'm outside because cafés are way more expensive. Usually more like buying awake than taste.

      • I read on 4chan the reason for the recent woke movement is due to accessibility to cheap coffee. Glad the world is waking up to this fact.

      • I still go there for coffee when I'm outside because cafés are way more expensive.

Coles Express is only $1 and is way better than 7/11

  • +3

So, is this on 7th or 11th?

    • +13

      11-Jul in the US
      7-Nov here

  • 7-11 coffee price jack

  • +9

    Should be 711,711

    • +23

Why neg a freebie because because they price jacked an unrelated product?

        • +33

There stupid app saves me hundreds on my fuel and occasionally gives me free stuff. The coffee is pretty meh anyway.

        • +3

If you think the app is stupid then you are on wrong website.

          • -2

@Pricebeat: Nope. I think their app is stupid and I'm not on the wrong website. Why would I ever use 7/11 for fuel when there are two local fuel stations nearby that are always cheaper? Most of the 7/11's near me are clearly racist too and they only hire Indians. Why would you support a racist company who underpays their staff and charges more than the cheaper fuel stations? I think you are on the wrong website 😂

            • @Tythefly86: Well guessing by the number, majority of the Ozbargain members use 7/11 app. Also not sure if your local is cheaper than $1.69, unless you live near blackstone in QLD. I wouldn’t be lying to support my point when anyone can check fuel prices aren’t cheaper than what you can get through 7/11 app. So I do believe you are on wrong website too if you think the app is stupid. But if you generally don’t wanna use it then that’s another point.

              • -5

@Pricebeat: Hahaha. Do you really think you can accurately say that most members use the app? Come off it lol. Have you got any other made up statistics to add? LOL. I checked the crappy app after your reply and the best 7/11 fuel price in my area is 213.9 and what do you know, I can get fuel from 2 fuel stations around the corner from my closest 7/11 for 173. You are clearly lying whether you know it or not or you're just clueless. If you need proof I'll send screens. 7/11 is not cheap fuel 🙄

                • +2

@Tythefly86: What rock are you living under? You clearly have no frikkin clue how Ozbargainers use 7/11 app. Go do Ozbargain 101 first and then check 7/11 app fuel lock thread in the forums. My latest fuel lock is $1.69, which clearly beats your 1.73 price.

Here’s the lock thread with 19 pages of comments. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/678629

The one before that with 148 pages
                  https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/288802

Judging by your comments, I am guessing you had no idea of these threads. Not sure If I should be doing you the favour of letting you know about these. Since you took it upon yourself to be so ignorant. Those threads are where my claims are coming from. Now do let me know where your in house claims are coming from.

A clueless person shouldn’t be telling others that they are clueless. I think it should be clear to you by now that you are clueless. If it isn’t then I don’t know if anyone can help you.

                  • -2

@Pricebeat: Who says I need help? I'm consistently getting cheap fuel without some shitty app from a terrible company. You need the help 😂

      • +7

        Their user name checks out

    • -1

Coles Express won't keep their coffee at $1 for much longer either. It's an incredibly unsustainable price and I doubt they make much money off it.

      • Not loss leader? @jv

        • You're right that it's probably a loss leader - but an unsustainable one at that. Petrol doesn't make much money it's the in store purchases that make the money. They'll certainly hold on as long as they can with $1 coffee given they're the only one doing it now, but it won't last forever.

          • @recycledrevenge: Probably a slight profit, or break even for them.

            40c Milk
            30c Coffee (assuming 20grams)
+ Machine cost, maintenance and cups

          • +2

@recycledrevenge: My old team and I used to all stop off at 7/11 after lunch on the way back to the office. Some of us would get the coffees (and started the tradition), the rest would buy over-priced pepsi, chocolates, etc. Seems pretty sustainable to me.

      • +3

and I doubt they make much money off it.

Lots of people get petrol at Coles Express rather than a competitor to get a coffee.. That's where they make their money… (and the banana bread)

      • Likely a loss leader, besides they make a killing on petroleum and diesel

      • They give em away for free in exchange for your 4c/l fuel docket.

  • +11

Time for all the franchisees to bring out the "out of order" note

  • +2

Whyyyyy can't it be a free coffee???

  • Funny how KFC, MacDonalds, red rooster, hungry jacks, Woolworths, Coles, most places excluding 7-eleven don't require you to update your Google app to the max required system (where 7-eleven decided to upgrade their firmware beyond and above making most phones unable to install the app.)

While the other 7-11 Australia app doesn't comply with the request, but it's happy to take your bank card and photo for in shop purchases.

    Kinda pathetic 7-eleven.

    • +5

I assume by 'Google app' you mean Android?

7-11 App needs Android 9 and up. 9 and up market share in Australia is around 84%.

    • +1

but it's happy to take your bank card and photo for in shop purchases.

that's only if you sign up to [optional] pay & go

    • Macca's forced you to update their app, otherwise you can't even place an order, can't kig in and can't see the menu.
They literally force you to update otherwise it won't open.

  • 7/11 bread just went up 10%… Only found out at register as old price still on display at local 7/11 servo. Was then informed "oh yeah that went up last week". Nice.

  • isnt 7-11 coffee now $1? has it increased?

    • +1

Yep, it increased by 100% recently.
They also have shittier lids which start to dissolve once you start drinking it.

      • +1

Good move that most companies are into environmental-friendly lid

        • Ah, it's one of the biodegradable ones?
          Fair enough then!

    • +2

Yep now two bucks. That happened a few weeks ago I think. My mate reckons he argued the point as it wasn't signposted. He got it for a buck. Will be his last dollar coffee at 7/11 I'm afraid. I generally don't go to 7/11 since they removed Commbank ATMs. On another note I just realised the bread actually went up 11.11111111111111111111….%

      • Will be his last dollar coffee at 7/11 I'm afraid.

Mine was the first, and only $2 coffee (I didn't think to argue about no signage).

I generally don't go to 7/11 since they removed Commbank ATMs

Check out ING, they refund the ATM fee for any ATM in Australia.

  • +3

Didn't even know they had smoothies or frappe.

(And only some time later I realized this deal is not slurpees)

    • Only some stores have the machine, most don’t.

      • +1

        well that instils confidence ……

      • Any way to find out if there are any in Brisbane CBD that have them?

    • +5

go to the store locator page: https://www.7eleven.com.au/store-locator.html

click "more filters", then check "Smoothies & Frappés"

      • Showing 1 results

        this store finna be smashed

but also 2 other stores both opposite 30min+ away sparse

      • Wonder how often they update the tags or if it's the store themselves that need to do it.
Strathfield and Parramatta have the machines. iirc Yagoona had a poster of it.

        • I don't think this is an updated list. I feel like there are at about 10 just in Brisbane CBD with smoothies. There's 3 on George st alone

      • Can confirm the Fairfield East store in Vic has a smoothie machine, and it’s working! It doesn’t show up on the store locator, so I’m guessing there are other stores that may have one not listed.

  • +1

    71,711 at 7/11 on 7/11 with 71 upvotes. It's so beautiful I don't want to wreck it

    • +1

      now 117 votes dont wreckit

      • +1

How many people scrolled up to check the numbers of upvotes after reading the last comment? 🤔

  • +1

Just updated the app, but I don't see that offer. Nor can I find that FB post om 7-Eleven, 7-eleven Australia or 7-eleven Melbourne. @crazynic - if possible - could you please share the link?

  • +2

Local may 'run out' of smoothie cups on the day, lol

    • +2

They're so shit about this. Every time there's a decent deal my two local stores 'run out'. Really need to do better with how they manage the promos.

    • It's available for a week , after activating offer on 7/11, until 71,711 free smoothies or frappes given away.

  • +1

    Staring at 7:11 am too?

    • Brilliant idea! You should apply for 7-11 marketing team!

  • Thanks

  • Which 7-Eleven stores in Melb CBD have frappes?

    • There's quite a few in the city with smoothies. Fed square, 211 la Trobe, 11 Collins St.. Which end of the city?

  • +2

So does this mean they aren't doing the 'bring your own bucket' Slurpee day? Isn't that usually on 7/11 day?

Also, went to the servo yesterday and saw their large Slurpee's had gone up 50%! Just a matter of time before McD's, KFC, HJ's etc up their prices too I imagine. With all these price increases I feel the next step will be to just start charging customers for being on the tarmac like airlines are for planes at an airport.

    • +3

i don't think they did byob last year either. can't actually remember the last time they ran that

      • +2

Oh man, how long have I been asleep?

        • +5

covid's (profanity) up our memories lol

        • +1

Asleep for a while maccas slurpees are $2 now unless you buy one in the app for $1 but you cant get a deal and a slurpee at the same time in the app

    • Not sure if im remembering this correctly, but i think they were doing free slurpees with any purchase the last couple of years?

      • +2

the bring your own bucket thing didn't require any purchase.

        • Yeah just saying what they were doing instead

    • On the weekend I found maccas and HJ’s have already increased the price of their large frozen drinks. KFC still had $1 drinks, but I’m sure they’ll be increasing the price soon enough!!

  • +2

Anyone else noticed that the free rewards after your 7 visit no longer has the option for coffee or iced coffee? :(((

    • i got a lipton tea passionfruit last time. preferred that, actually.

    • My app doesn't even accumulate the visits!

    • Yes. I started a thread about it in the forums a few weeks ago

  • Simply activate your reward in-app on 7-Eleven day."

means first 71k activations tied to acc?

what are chances of OOS ?

    • +1

It's available for a week , after activating offer on 7/11, until 71,711 free smoothies or frappes given away.

      • Or until 71711 people find a machine that works lol

        • Drinking a free Mocha Latte Frappé now from local store. Easy!

Franchise Manager said head office sent out message to keep ingredients up to machines for this promotion.

  • +11

Approached my local at 00:01 and surprise, surprise… the machine is not working

  • +1

I live relatively close to the 7-11 Mackenzie one which is probably the only smoothie one is Brisbane. It barely gets used due to the prices being quite high and Macca's being a 5mins drive for better options. I'm going to bet that today out of days it will be "out of order".

    • Get your information correct…

Mackenzie isn't "probably the only smoothie one is Brisbane"?
Certainly seen in other Brisbane stores.

Store Locator shows other stores in your area with Smoothies & Frappés. Can call store to confirm.

I'm going to bet that today out of days it will be "out of order".

It's click to lock in offer today. Not only available today!
After clicking offer - available for a week (unless 71,711 limit reached).

    • Proven incorrect…

Drinking a free Mocha Latte Frappé from store just a couple of Km away from Mackenzie. One of the many stores with machines shown on Store Locator

Not "out of order". No problem at all.

Friendly Franchise Manager showed me how to use as he restocked it. He said head office sent out message to keep ingredients up to machines for this promotion.

  • 7/11 was a part time job !
