I'm pretty sure this is just a preregistration form as I haven't received form for address/postage details

Read the description. It clearly states that.

Read my comment, it clearly states that I think it's a preregistration form

        • have you received an email from them?

        • No, not yet. High fees with GST calculated on top make Paypal more attractive. Neither are available yet. Just based on fees alone however it's extremely high. I guess if you were in trades or markets, being mobile is of utmost importance and you usually have a high margin anyway.

  • can i use this go around in da clubs meet people n swipe their cards to transfer money to my account?? hahaha

  • Nice one, I have been keeping an eye on the Paypal one but theirs remains strictly for iPhone 4 and 4S.

No, they are releasing PayPal Here for Android too.

  • Wow - the fees are high! 2.4% to the seller PLUS 3% + $0.50 for the buyer!

    • +2

Yeah - my initial knee-jerk reaction was the same, but the fine print is that for the 'onthego'service it's 2.4% of the total, plus GST plus $0.50 so no buyers fee. So not too bad, actually. If you did a lot of transactions, then something else would be better - but for small numbers, this is pretty reasonable.

  • These mobile phone credit card readers seem to be quite a trend these days. Square been the most talked-about one, been around for more than 2 years but not sure whether it works in Australia.

  • PayPal's has been released I've been using it for weeks.

    • Are their fees better than this?

      • much better.

        • Can you elaborate on the fees?

        • can you put link? googled but nothing?

        • +1

Managed to find it on their website - https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/credit-card-reader-faq…

Certainly not "much better" - 2.4% + 30c. Paypal cheaper for sales under $134, assuming no rounding….. :)

EDIT: Oh, but Paypal don't mention anything about GST…. So that part is unclear.

EDIT2: $#$()# … OK, so if the 10% GST is applied to the entire total from Paymate [(2.25% + 50c) + GST], then Paymate never ends up cheaper.

    • is it the Australian version or US version? I registered and never heard back.

  • What's a Galaxy Nexus S? Some sort of horrid between-generation hybrid?

  • I guess this is no good for the "Business Woman" then…

  • "Pre-register before 02/07/2012 and we will give you the Paymate OnTheGo swiper for free (valued $19.95 incl. GST) when you fully register."

how much will it cost to fully register?

    • Free.

Damn it! Read it as playmate, now I'm disappointed :(

  • Their fee's are double compared to any other credit card facility.

They also hold up to $500 of your funds for up to 6months on new accounts.

Their customer service sucks, personal experience.

Trying to get these guys to reply to your email takes over 3 days.

For the $20 you save on a swipe card, you will pay your fair share in fee's down the track

Sneaky trying to charge double dip on merchant and consumers with their fees.

    • This product doesn't charge the buyer and seller.

Note that the buyer fee does not apply to Paymate OnTheGo ..
