I thought you need membership or accompanied by a member to get into costco.
nah, you can get in if you have a gift card aswell
I did not know that. Seems like an easy loop hole to never pay for a membership.
@Slo20: yeah but only use it if you don't care about the lifetime warranty that comes with the membership
@michael9865: Out of curiosity do Costco ever challenge this and try to get out of it?
@Saiya: I wouldn't know, probably best to research it and see if it happened, I did hear someone say they were refused to get another gift card using their gift card and bank card to pay for it.
Any reports of other stores? Vic perhaps? Went to Moorabbin airport but didn't look in that section.
Gaggia New Classic Pro $499.94
Seems a bit shallow…
Good price! I paid $590 on sale incl delivery.
Beware if you are looking to buy one.
This machine needs some mods including a new spring to work "better".
The factory setting on pressure is too highSure, to get the best out of it, you can mod it to get 9bar. I wouldn't exactly say 'Beware' though, as even stock it will do a decent job and make a nice cup of espresso, just probably not to the maximum of what it could be capable of.
Yea beware is not the right word.
It just baffles me that a great espresso machine maker would actually do this to an awesome machine.I think people overstate how much the machine “needs” to be modded. I ran it stock for a few months and I made some great coffee, particular with medium-dark roasts.
I have to admit once I did the 9 bar opv mod (which lowers the pressure) my shots did improve. It only cost me $20 and 20 mins of my time (including watching a YouTube video on how to install it)
Yeah, I agree they should make it 9 bar by default. The older models actually had an adjustable pressure thingie built in. Ah well.
Unmodded it can make a very good coffee - 5-6/10. Modded it can make a really great coffee - 7 or 8/10. For reference coffee club etc is a 1 or 2/10. Most cafes that go to some effort would be 5-7/10.
This assumes you have good beans, grind appropriately, and pull it well. If you use preground woolies beans, well…
If you're after my highly scientific scale =P
confirmed. its a great machine. get a decent grinder. i would recommend Sette 270Wi - Baratza as a starting point.
Yes, it is a great espresso maker regardless. Well worth the money IMO.
On that note you need a good grinder also.
Gaggiuino is the only way to go.
I feel with your critique here, you watch James Hoffmann on the weekends. I applaud you for your rating.
There's probably a very good reason to restrict pressure, hot, pressurised water in a vessel that was designed for a certain pressure being over pressurised ain't a good thing, imo.
The mod reduces the pressure.
Just put a cup under the steam wand and crack the valve open a bit during brewing to lower the pressure.
just had my solanoid get clogged.
Thanks for these being made unbelievable well it was a sinch to fix and had it done in 40 minutes.100% recommend.
Check out this mod as well.
I BUILT AN ARDUINO POWERED COFFEE MACHINE | GAGGIUINO INSTALL ON GAGGIA CLASSIC PROFark, now I want to buy this machine just to do this project!
Anyone tried asking for a price match for a different Costco location?
That’s a great deal. I was happy I found it on sale for $600 last year.
has anyone price matched with local Costco?
Price at Ipswich Costco now $599. Save those planning to make the trip to Costco the effort.
Can also purchase this using gift card in which case don't need membership
