Waiting for price to be close to $200.

$249 with no noise cancellation?! My goodness Apple got us by the balls.

      • +5

Actually, Apple has us by the earlobes. These are 100x more comfortable than the AirPods Pro 2s, and sound as good, so in a quiet environment these come up trumps

        • +5

You are probably someone who does not like the rubber tips pushing into your ear canals.

          • @edfoo: Yes, rubber in my canal does lessen my enjoyment of music… especially the bass penetration

            • +1

@tharlow: I'm the opposite, these doesn't stay my ear at all. Any movement and they start falling out. The in ear ones, I find them super comfy.

          • +5

@edfoo: There are dozens of us!

    • Waiting for price to be close to $50.

      • LOL my used AirPods gen 1 still worth more than $50.

  • +1

price match at JB and use those discounted gift card.

  • +4

    Not really a deal.
It has been sold at $249 for 1month or so on MyDeals. and you can apply the $10 coupon

    • Pretty sure they are grey imports. Apple Warranty will be short.

      • +4

ACCC consumer rights covers grey imports. Had iPhones that had issues that were HK variants or China variants with Chinese text on the back, got full replacements in AUS, if they sell the product in Australia they need to warrant it in Australia, iPhone, AirPods, MacBook etc. You can buy a phone in UK come back to Australia and 2 years is what you'll get, sometimes 3 on high value items such as a MacBook Pro.

Don't let Apple try to tell you otherwise.

        • Interesting but controversial as well!

        • +7

All this might be true, but it has absolutely nothing to do with ACCC consumer rights. It’s actually called the First Law of Karens. The squeakiest wheel always gets the first lube, even when there is no justification on mechanical grounds

  • +2

You can get the battery replaced on your old airpods if everything else works well

    • +1

Where? How? Apple said mine were legacy and just handed them back

        • My AirPod gen 1 cannot hold charge very long now, the link above shows battery replacement costs $75, might as well buy a pair of new earphones.

          • @edfoo: It does say $75 but you will get seen by an "Apple Genius Expert" at the store and be told your batteries need replacing, will cost you $139- No shit Sherlock lol

            • +1

@reddot12: LOL that makes my choice even easier.

            • @reddot12: So they will change battery on both ear pods and case? So total of 3 battery swaps?

              • @hopper: $139 is the airpods alone not sure about the case but good question tho. In that case (pardon the pun), you’re better off buying new ones

      • +15

Go into an Apple Store and demand to have your product replaced under ACCC consumer law section 53 subsection 2b part ix. Scream I’m not leaving until I speak to Tim Cook or the ghost of Steve Jobs! You should get a brand new set of AirPods rather quickly. There’s always the chance that you’ll get arrested by the police, but if they threaten to call the cops just say you’re transitioning to Android, and targeting minority groups is unacceptable. Even if you get arrested anyway, it’s a nice story to tell your cellmate

        • Does that mean I will never pass the criminal check when applying for a new job because I want to see Jobs?

          • +1

@OMG: Use your reality distortion field

    • Yap. I got it replaced once before end of warranty.

    • +1

I'm fairly sure Apple just provides the replacements and bin the old ones.

  • +2

That design with the woofer facing down into the ear canal is the best thing Apple ever invented. Better than the iPhone. It's in all the cheaper headphones now, so comfortable.

  • +1

Price matching Catch if you have discounted gift cards. Catch is an authorised Apple reseller.

  • I just ate this deal and only later realised it's not the pro. I just got DP'd

    • Good thing Amazon has easy cancellation.

    • How does eating the wrong set of airpods relate to getting double penetrated?

  • Can anyone know?
I have lost my charging case?

  • Wowee rubbish at that price, just about anything else would be better.

    • Earplugs are wonderful for noise cancellation

      • Do you mean ear wax is better for noise cancellation? ;)

    • Like what?

  • +1

Apple charges $139 for battery replacement — that or get a new one, whichever it is, Apple still takes your money! You're never gonna win!

    • +1

As far as I know, you can't get sony/bose to replace their batteries.

  • -3

It's astonishing that people are willing to spend $250 for these, when very solid options exist for as little as $25. QCY, fur instance. Please don't argue, I have so many earbuds in bought for fun, and I usually go for either my Jabra 65t or QCY T18, never for the airpods I got as a present.

    • +2

I have some cheap earbuds, and they're garbage in ONE area, hand off from MacBook to iPhone. Such an absolute nightmare, I have to put the earbuds back into the case from Ankr and then hold a button to reconnect every single time. I got Soundpeats & Ankr whatever they're called, but EarPods when I had them I lost them were so easy to connect.

I can't remember if the sound was that good, I had series 1 EarPods, they seemed ok, I assume the pods pro 3 would be next level.

Dunno why people downvoted you, you can get some OK headphones now for $25-35, but I don't think they're comparable to AirPods, but then also the price is not comparable in the slightest.

    • The Airpods 3 are significantly better than Jabra 65t as far as the mics and mic noise cancelling goes. SIGNIFICANTLY. Also these aren't sealed, so only someone who knows nothing about earbuds would compare the Jabra against the airpods.

    • Same reason some people are buying $20k bags instead of $200 bags. If you are with apple ecosystem, it's better choice. I have cheap QCY, soundpeats and much expensive ones such as Bose, Sony and Airpods. In short, you get what you paid for.

  • The old fit was so much better

    • I'm a fan of the 1/2 gen fit - recently got some Pros 2 and sent them back due to discomfort. I wonder if the 3 is the same fit/comfort as the Pros without the tips.

  • -1

    "AirPods 3" lol

  • Thank you, got one.

    • Surely you are kidding us right Tim? You must have hundreds or thousands of AirPods at home.

      • I am not kidding, my old one broke so I need to buy a new one. Gotta keep those sales number bro!

  • Apple should include this and a wall charger with every new iPhone/iPad they sell as they have removed the headphone Jack.

Apple admitted they charged the customers more just because they can, not because of innovations in technology.
way over price I am sorry.

  • Does anyone know if Apple accepts returns on open AirPods if purchased directly from them? Really want to try the Gen 2 Pros for the ANC but not sure how they’ll fit in ear, if they’re no good then I’ll go for the AirPods 3. Ideally just want to purchase them to test and then return and buy from a cheaper source

    • Yes. Did it myself. Just make sure you keep the original packaging and everything in it. You get 14 days to try it. And I believe if you initiate the return in the Apple Store app if you bought through it (although sometimes it won't let you, no idea why), as opposed to buying in person at the Store, you get another 14 days to actually send it in (that's why it's called "initiate the return").

An easier option is just to try them out at the Apple Store right there and then and decide. Although in regards to ANC you might wanna bring them to your own testing environment (office, train, what have you). I was talking about the fit.

  • how i can do price beat with officeworks online to get the cashrewards? thanks

    • You can’t

  • Thank you. got it

  • Expired now. Price went back to $269.
