2-day delivery to Brisbane was $4.99 for me, without Prime, to an Amazon Hub Locker. $1 more for home delivery.
This is a retractable mechanical pencil that is as easy to use as a push-button pen. The pointy bits that are exposed on most mechanical pencils, are kept safe inside the body until you want to use the pencil. So it's safe to keep in your top pocket, it won't accidentally stab you or damage your clothing. It has an all-metal body (aluminium alloy), but some of the innards are plastic.
This is similar to the recent Rotring 800 deal, but at about 1/3rd the price: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/718794
Why would you use one of these instead of a pen? Well, I like things that "just work" when I'm out and about. Pens can leak and smudge, and when they run out of ink, it's very unlikely a refill is close at hand. With a mechanical pencil, you can load it up with leads, and you have a writing tool that will just keep going and going and going. And of course it's easily erasable, with the in-built eraser, but I suggest you keep a separate eraser if you're going to be doing a lot of erasing. You can also write on more surfaces, like smooth metal, plastic and glass. Although the writing will be somewhat difficult to see on these surfaces, you simply can't write on these surfaces at all with most long-lasting pens.
Only one colour/size is this cheap - pink with 0.5mm leads. Look at it this way guys, probably no-one will try to steal it from you!
Silver and red colours are available for $14.84 (+delivery), and the silver is also available for 0.3, 0.7 and 0.9mm leads, but those models are more expensive than the 0.5mm model.
Here's a good video review of the pencil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUdW3U2vOzk
If you skip to 2min10sec into the review, you'll see the reviewer push the button to extend the "pointy bits" from their storage position inside the case. Note that the lead is already about 1mm extended when it comes out - so just like a pushbutton pen, it's ready to go with one push. It's slightly better than the competing Rotring 800 in this respect, the Rotring's "hold the body and twist one end" is a bit more fiddly to do with one hand. To put the "pointy bits" back into the storage position, just press the pen clip, this is also shown in the review.
One small negative, it has a honking big pocket clip. A little bit ugly compared to similar pens. But at least it won't roll away!
