40% off KeepCup (Plastic Cup, Doppio M 12oz / 340ml $11.37) + $9.95 Delivery ($0 C&C/ $99 Order) @ MYER

930

Myer are having a 40% off KeepCup sale. I've been waiting for a deal like this since getting my Barista Express and luckily stumbled across it.

KeepCup Original - normally $18.95 now $11.37
KeepCup Brew - normally $30.95 now $18.57
KeepCup Brew Cork - normally $35.95 now $21.57
KeepCup Thermal - normally $44.95 now $26.97
KeepCup Bottle Original - normally $39.95 now $23.97

Some may say the Kmart Travel Cup is a worthy contender at $1.75 - but with the landfill I've contributed to by buying Kmart products, I'm not so sure.

Plenty of discussion in the previous Myer 40% KeepCup deal in 2021

Deal ends midnight tonight.

Holy shit, keep cups are ludicrously expensive. Wtf. I've only ever received these as gifts so had no idea.

These prices are stupid, even at 40% off.. Other than maybe the original, still expensive though, I'd expect glass at that price..

    • +2

I mean $10 for a reusable coffee glass isn't bad

      • It's $18. The $11 one is plastic.

        • Oh you are right, I bought a few for $15 a while back. $18 is a getting close to being too much.

          • +2

@onlinepred: If you can combine with the $10 myers voucher that skyisblue pointed out, brings the glass one down to $8 which seems reasonable.

    • I agree, I've got 2 of these and both I received from work lol

    • +2

They're made to stop wastage when buying 'take away' coffee. That is all… a vessel to hopefully slow climate change, by reusing instead of making 2 new paper/ plastic cups for every takeaway. you can use this for years

    • +1

The plastic original ones, along with all the lids for the rest of their lines, are made in Australia. The silicon bands and glasses are made in China. The economics of having those Australian made components raises costs somewhat.

Of course the average punter doesn’t see the value of supporting Australian manufacturing for this type of product, they just scan for the lowest prices on the shelf. Kmart offers $1.90 knock off if you want that instead.

  • +11

In my experience Keep cups are pretty bad quality. I have gotten 2 of the glass ones for free and both chipped very quickly. Cheapo Kmart/target knock offs are still going strong with no chips (glass ones too)

    • +3

Yeh my smash cup from that Coles express deal is still going strong. That was a solid quality glass cup

    • +1

I bought a set of glass coffee mugs from Kmart 5yrs ago and they are all holding up no worries, no chips. Their glassware is good quality for the price.

    • +1

The cheapo kmart/target ones IMO have a taste to the rubber/plastic which I hate.

    • My glass KeepCup is going strong without any damage for about 3 or 4 years now.

Do you put them through a dishwasher by chance?

      • I do, but I think my first one chipped before I even managed to do that, on the first day I had it. Glad you are having better luck than I have though

    • I've had the same glass keepcup for 7 years now. I only had to replace the cork band once when it split. Pretty good imo!

  • +9

I'm done with keep cups. (even though I'm drinking from one right now). IMO the lids become ill fitting too quickly and they start to leak, especially in the glass versions. My car's filthy cup holders and stained work desks are testament to their (lack of) quality. DJs has some stainless double wall avanti cups going for just over $11 right now, I'm gonna try one to see how it goes.

    • Start to leak? As in more than they normally do? Because they're not sealed enough to just put then in a bag or backpack.

      • +5

No, I'd never even think of putting them in my bag - pretty sure they are not intended for that. I mean leak when I'm using them, or when they're in the car vibrating in the cup holder even when they're closed.

    • https://www.myer.com.au/p/maxwell-williams-megan-mckean-citi… these from myer were pretty good and doesnt leak. Got it for $2.47 with the $10 myer voucher last week

    • +2

I'm going on 4 years with no issues. As is my colleagues and wife.

    • Have a look at Frank Green cups.
Their kids screws on and has a proper seal so they can't leak while you drink.

The downside is that the lid is harder to clean.

      • +2

        Their kids screws on

        Kind of unfortunate typo

I don’t recommend the thermal keepcup. I have already exchanged one for leaking when drinking coffee when the lid is on and the replacement is currently doing the same too

I was lucky to get Myer to exchange the first one since it passed the one year ACL warranty

    • Just FYI the 1 year warranty would have been the manufacturer's express warranty and not the ACL warranty. ACL warranties are not for a fixed period (regardless of what the retailer/manufacturer may offer) but last for whatever is reasonable.

I would think that it is reasonable for a cup (especially one that costs so much money) to last more than one year.

    • +1

Personal experience: After filling my Keepcup Thermal with "hot/boiling" liquid, need to wait at least 30 seconds (1 One Thousand, 2 One Thousand…) before putting lid on.

Otherwise, the lid leaks from moisture/steam build up!

Posting just to balance out the complaints. I haven't experienced any of the problems others are mentioning.

I have had the same keep cups for years now using them everyday. Microwave them regularly coz I tend to forget about my coffee and dishwasher use. I only buy the completely plastic versions. My only gripe is they tend to pop out of my cup holder when empty like they're so slightly too big.

    • +1

I like the keep cups too

    • Ditto, I really like my thermal. Looks nice and keeps things warm, quite durable but I don't out it in the dishwasher. Not sure what anyone would, just rinse it out and give it a quick wipe.

      • Yep, it has care instructions on it. Not hard to follow.

I should clarify that I only get the non-clear plastic ones. I just didn't want another thing I've got to wash by hand. It's essentially just another plastic food container. Gets chucked all over the place but will only break if you're really trying.

  • +2

I have a couple of Keep Cups and this Kmart glass one https://www.kmart.com.au/product/350ml-grey-reusable-glass-t… honestly the Kmart one is pretty good. Not as pretty. The lid is slightly more fiddly to clean, but all in all very good for the price.

I still like the keep cups though. When on sale I think worth it as they are more attractive and last a long time.

  • +1

Same here. I've had mine for about 4 years. Brew, cork. I use at least a few times a week, give or take. It's been great. I only hand wash if that matters. Lid isn't perfect seal at the mouth piece but it's good enough. Doesn't need to be air tight. $40 rrp is a bit of money but per use, and when on discount and doing your bit for environment is kind of nice

  • Thanks Op. got a purple one! 👍

My decor 650ml tumbler is better for $1

  • I still prefer the Kmart travel cup

  • +1

I've had a couple of keep cups over the years. The plastic lid for my first one ended up loose. I now find keep cups at op shops for $1-$2.

  • -1

    $11 you're taking the piss

heaps of companies have these are promos with their logo screen printed on it and it doesnt cost $11…

  • +3

Just want to remind everyone that after a while the plastic led will start to become loose and cause leakage due to manufacturing flaw. Ive gone through 3 of these and all start to leak within three months of use. Very annoying when you are driving and have coffee spills on your work shirt.

I recommend the "smash brand" from coles or woolies. Its cheaper and better.

    • I have the Smash Barista Buddy 350ml glass cup. I like that the top is made out of silicone, so it doesn't leak and it doesn't get brittle like plastic.

I got it for $6 when it was on sale at Woolworths.

  • +1

I'm a big fan of the made by fressko camino cups. Wide enough to fully put your hand in to clean it, doesn't leak when you chuck it into a backpack, but QUITE expensive. I prefer it to the Miir Flip Traveller which makes me feel more confident in its leakproofness but you need a bottle brush to clean because it's more narrow, and there seems to be more difficult to clean crevices.

You can get a KeepCup at Bunnings for $9.95 with a free coffee. Has the Bunnings logo but original size. If you are nice to Karen she normally does an Oat milk and doesn't charge extra.

My click and collect order is still not ready and this morning I called Customer service and they said the order was back ordered.

    • +1

Ordered midday Sunday - still being "prepared".
Knew what I ordered was in short supply, so checked with store first. Otherwise have to wait for stock to transfer from another store.

Has happened almost every order during sales. But each has finally become ready for collecting - up to 2 weeks later.

    • Picked up my order yesterday.
