    Single core, single thread goodness.

    As cheap as the CPU is, the prices of DDR2 memory has skyrocketed so much that it offsets any savings you would have by buying the CPU.

    But it's good for building project if you have old spare parts lying around.

    I can buy this, build a PC with it and then put it out on my front lawn for hard rubbish collection!

    • Hey, my Celeron D (bought back in 2007) is still going strong. The original PSU recently died, but otherwise it's been a good PC..
      I'm actually prepping it to give to a mate so we can play Left4Dead.

      Don't really see the bargain though.

        This isn't a D - it's a Core based Celeron. Much better.

  • It's not the D430, it's just the 430. The Celeron D was a completely different generation which was based on the old Netburst architecture.

    pity that its hard to find a suitable mobo for this.. i have heaps of ddr2 ram lying around.

  • just pick it and collect.

    Most of the stuff on MSY clearance list is gone, I was out at Auburn on Sunday and the queue was out the door and down the aisle, alot of stuff marked off the list. Suggest you call ahead first to check stock

    • +4

      that won't work as they never answer their phone.

        Very true, I went down there and left empty handed, won't bother next time

  • These are the ones that get lapped and chucked under some LN2 right?

    • I don't see a point in trying to get big numbers with this cpu. The old P4's reached 5ghz with Liquid nitrogen and the 8150 8ghz+ with liquid helium. Really no point with this chip.

      • no point?!

        cpu=$15
        liquid cooling=$400
        bragging rights for 8+ghz o/c=priceless!lol

        • …. This wouldn't clock anywhere near 5ghz. You do know 8150 is amds 8 core processor right? Liquid helium is not cheap or easy to come by.

        • yes, i was being sarcastic with the D430 reference! it's been a long time since a $15 cpu could be o/cd this far…

    the clearance list is basicly a con, to lure you into their website/store just like officeworks.

    if you ask them, probably 90% of the items are sold out or not worth the money!

    example(not a real quote):
    i2500k cpu on the clearance list sell for says $280
    an i2700k cpu on the NORMAL price list might be only $270
    so why bother? it is an old & outdated "clearance" list.

      the problem is that they only put things on the clearance list when there is 1-2 stock left. It gets bought within a few days but they take forever to remove it from the list.

    Looks like the highlighters are back, this usually means serious savings for msy!
