    Awesome! Go Aussie Devs!

Yeaaaaaahhh! And I'm not easily impressed… Woah, free demos!

p.s. thanks for the list (-:

Check out Wayward Strand if you like cute story based games!

  • @luisvsm Had no idea your game has been in development for so long - i just watched an early lets play from back in 2020!

    • +2

Hah yeah been in development for a while now, it's been a bit of a labour of love for Jim & Ben with development blogs going back to 2004! https://www.spiesandsoldiers.com/blog/

I've been marching us towards launch since I joined the team though and we're looking good for 2023 :D

      • oh my!

      • 2014*** (sorry, it's too late to edit my mistake lol)

  • Praetorians was a fun game. RTS with an emphasis on units rather then building. Looks like a lazy HD remaster.

  • Nice, really recommend Riftbound.

  • Any recommendations ?

If you have kids, Adventure Pals solid pickup

Damn you for triggering my "PC Elden ring" alert

Whoa, I didn't even know Agent A is Australian. I got it for Android but it's a nice point and click puzzle solver game. Cool to see some of Australia's creations.

@luisvsm - thanks for taking the time to write up this deal post, and thereby showcasing Aussie-made games #thumbsup

Incidentally, I had earlier submitted a deal post about MIGW2022 games on sale last Friday Sep 30th, and another separate deal post regarding Warp Frontier last Thursday Sep 29th… but your deal post's listing of games is more complete than mine, and you're one of the developers of a MIGW featured game

P.S. If a mod were to happen to notice your deal post, and my earlier deal post(s), and preferred to keep only one of the two instead of keeping both … I'd rather that the mod preserve your deal post :-)

    • +1

Oh! I missed your post sorry, wonder why it wasn't upvoted as much

Thanks for being kind about it <3

      • All good! … probably has to do with your deal post title clearly saying its Melbourne International Games Week (my deal post didn't)

… plus you're actually associated with the MIGW event and sale promotion - whereas I just happened to notice the MIGW2022 Steam page early, and I tend to be enthusiastic when it comes to posting about Australian-made games whenever I see an opportunity to do so :)

  • Wait, the last stand is Australian made? Whattttt

    • Fond memories of killing zombies at work playing Dead Zone on FB… no idea they were aussie either!

Don't forget PAX AUS is this coming weekend in Melbourne if you want to say hi to indie developers in person! :)

The developers of Armello, League of Geeks, are working on Solium Infernum, a "turn-based political wargame set in Hell" - coming out on Steam in 2023 :-

    • +1

Honestly excited to see how that one turns out, so keen for more simultaneous turn-based strategy games

    • +1

Thanks for this info, love Armello so will keep an eye on their new game :)

  • Is Moving Out any good?

    • +1

It's like overcooked but a bit less charm and polish. Not bad, it's a fun game to play as a couch coop but would say play overcooked 1&2 first and if you are still itching for more, try moving out

    • A lot of my friends much prefer the moving home concept, feels slightly less technical and rigid at higher levels/difficulties, more exciting and easier to pick up for new and casual players, and it's hectic in a more fun way. Oh and they like the dry jokes and puns lol. I personally prefer overcooked but when friends come over they all groan at overcooked these days and opt for moving out instead. I also have Tools Up on switch (instead of cooking or moving, it's renovating) and that's also similar, but also slightly on the next tier down from moving out with less charm/polish/difficulty. Still good to pick up when on sale though!

Several games that are on the MIGW 2022 Steam sale list, were previously nominated / winners at the Australian Game Developer Awards in:

    • 2020 - Moving Out, Kana Quest, Roombo: First Blood, Elden: Path of the Forgotten
    • 2021 - Ring of Pain, Choices That Matter: And The Sun Went Out, TRIOS

Heavenly Bodies, Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown, Born Punk are among the recently announced AGDAs 2022 finalists:

This year the AGDAs will be held on 5 October, 7:00pm AEDT at The Forum Melbourne as part of Melbourne International Games Week celebrations and will also be streamed live via the IGEA Twitch channel for those who can’t attend in person.

Victoria has seen significant success in this year’s AGDAs, with the three finalists for Australian Game of the Year heralding from the state. Notable mentions include Heavenly Bodies by 2pt Interactive which has been nominated for six awards across art, gameplay, music and technical design as well as Cult of the Lamb by Massive Monster and Wylde Flowers by Studio Drydock with five and four nominations respectively.

Lost and Hound by Daisy Ale Soundworks, a finalist in the accessibility category, is playable by those classed as legally blind. The studio is the first regional Western Australian developer nominated in the AGDAs 20 year history, highlighting the opportunity for game projects to be created and delivered outside of major metropolitan areas.

“The AGDAs is one of the first award ceremonies to kick off the games industry awards season. It’s exciting to see Australian games that were celebrated at the AGDAs in previous years go on to be recognised internationally. For example, Unpacking – made by Brisbane studio Witch Beam – won the AGDAs Game of The Year Award in 2021, then went on to win over thirty awards internationally.” says Angharad Yeo, who along with her sister Amanda Yeo has hosted the AGDAs twice prior. “The AGDAs is a bit of an oracle of what is to come for Australian games and studios.”

This year the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne, will be offering playable demos of the top 10 games submitted to the AGDAs. Patrons can get hands-on with each game and vote on their favourite as part of the inaugural ACMI Audience Choice Award.

  • Brendan Keogh's Putting Challenge looks fun

  • Would've loved a sale on Dinkum - I've been wanting to give that game a go!

  • Moving Out doesn't appear to be on sale currently, was it just on sale for a shorter period, or am I missing something?
