Still offering 160k points for this card in the ANZ app for those how are existing customers.

    • got the card in 5 days so good. glad I did through the app!

    • can i open a transaction acc & be eligible for the 160k deal?

      • +6

Open an ANZ Progress Saver account (no fees) and you'll see the 160k offer

Don't make the same mistake I did and open ANZ Plus account as it uses a different App

    • I’m not an existing ANZ customer but can you please check if the 160k Qantas points offer is still available through the app?

      • No longer available

      • I opened a free ANZ Progress Saver account and found out that this offer is no longer available :(

110k points for $5k minmum spend now.

  • +10

Not sure if ANZ is worth the effort, 100x harder to grt the credit card than any other bank simply because the offshore team reviewing the applications don't understand the basics of the Australian tax system, or super, or annual leave, or sick leave. Enjoy explaining it all to them.

    • +8

I applied, had one question asked (to upload a couple more pay slips) then approved. Spent the $3K and just received 160,000 points….so my experience was quite simple…

      • +2

Totally opposite for me! I told them my 2 payslips dont reflect my annual income as I’ve got holiday loading, shift loading on all shifts regardless, stock and bonus

Offered to send my last 3 yrs june payslips to show my YTD but to no avail.

        Waste of time!

        • +1

i had similar dramas with them, they couldnt marry fortnightly pay to annual salary and i had ELI5 to them several times how it works. they really are bad

        • +2

Likewise… the process dragged on to the point that I had assumed the application had been closed.

First they asked for a couple of payslips. Sure, uploaded. Then nothing for a week.

Next a phone call from some dude saying that two payslips wasn't enough & also that he was confused by a line-of-credit account with a zero dollar repayment, since the balance was zero. He needed me to urgently email through additional payslips and loan statements - specifically email, so that it would be routed directly to him and things would keep moving. Then nothing for another week.

Thinking that the email may not have gotten through, I upload stuff via the portal… After a couple of days I get another call asking the same stupid questions about the line-of-credit and my HEM (household expenditure measure) answers.

The ANZ credit officers really do appear to have no understanding… the conversations seemed largely scripted. Having to explain why balance of the one requested statement for my existing credit card didn't exactly match the monthly HEM figure made my ears bleed.

Offshore team was relatively quick and simple for me. Then for some reason one of the onshore ladies got involved and gave me a call querying whether I pay alimony, given I was separated. She couldn't believe it when I told her I didn't pay and it was my ex who was supporting me. So judgemental.

    • I agree. Was a pain in the ass. But it has covid-relevant travel insurance. This is why I got it

    • It was a pain in the ass, after payslips, the offshore team was interrogating my assets and liabilities…so I handed the phone to my mortgage broker wife and she talked their head off…approval response within 5 min of hanging up.

Worth it IMO. but I am not planning to hold it after 11 months. the annual fee is crazy, and extra card costs extra too!

      • Again totally opposite with what they told me.
I said i had plenty of savings on my anz account, i’ve got assets, always paid my credit cards in full every due dates.
Just moved my home loan to them, they took a risk with me yet they can’t offer a credit card?

    • Agree.. I was back and forth with them for over 2weeks..they were declining me because I was on sock leave with covid.. And because I ran out of sick leave, I had some unpaid leave so they declined me. Mind you, they asked me for 3months of payslips. It was a VERY painful process.. However, I have received my 160k points after the 2nd statement despite spending 3k within the first week of earning the card (paid for 18months worth of health insurance in advance and other expenses) 🤦‍♀️

    • Yeah, can confirm this. I had just recently gotten a pay increase right, so when I uploaded my pay slips, there was a modest increase for the most recent month.

I got a call, and I explained yep - that's just the standard yearly pay bump (my income was more than enough to qualify even without the bump). He asked me to get a manager to write a letter to explain the pay increase - I just refused outright, and the heavily accented bloke just … Didn't know what to say - he eventually told me he'd have to get back to me. Instead, I got approved a couple hours later.

      • Yes, sometimes they are stupid request like that. My partner was worked overtime and it showed that extra hours in one of the payslips. They insisted to submit more payslips to see the consistent non-overtime monthly salary.

    • ANZ have always been the best for me. Just goes to show YMMV

  • +5

I give up. 160k for the same card, all posted (100k+60k) when requirements are met.
Read the details here on why you don’t go for this deal! - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719045

  • +6

I got rejected for the first time. Don't waste your time. The approval team knows nothing.

    • +1

Yep. They reject everyone below 200

      • +1

        Below 200k income per year?

      • +1

Nah i got it and am only on 190

      • +1

it's not all about the income. they dove into assets and liabilities as well.

Ie. you can make 200, but if you have repayments at $7000 per month that would put you well below someone that makes 190 but no repayment.

    • I've been approved my last two times

      • -1

        What a baller

        • +1

Can confirm, not on 200 a year

  • Any other non-ANZ or non-Amex credit card worths applying thses days?

Looking to churn my Westpac premium soon.

    Thanks

  • 60k second year does that mean we have to pay second annual fee?

    • Yes. But this deal is only for 100k first year plus 30k on anniversary. The 160k deal is ANZ customers only but if you sign up for a savings account as mentioned in previous comments you can apply through the ANZ app.

      • i see. so does that mean if apply in app,
        - First Year $170 annual fee ($425 less $255 cashback) for 100k bonus points
        - Second year (anniversary) $425 for remaining 60k bonus points?
So totalling $595 for 160k bonus points?
        Plus any transactions points etc.

        • Not quite. The app deal is $425 less$255 for first year annual fees. 160k on reaching minimum spend of $3000 in first 3 months. All points received in first year.

  • +6

One other positive for this card is the travel insurance is excellent. My bag was delayed 7 days so I was able to spend $1500 on clothes etc. they didn’t question any of the receipts (even bought a charger for my Apple Watch) and the money was in the bank within a few days. You also only have to spend $250 on the trip to activate insurance whereas others you have to put the full trip on the card.

    • Wow o_0

    • Useful info. As for the $250 spend, is that on the airfare or anything goes?

      • Anything related to the trip.

  • So they count payments to government (rates) for the 3k?

    • +1

Most every day purchases are eligible purchases. Certain transactions and other items are not eligible to earn Qantas Points. Examples of transactions and other items which will not earn Qantas Points are interest charges, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers, Government Charges (includes but is not limited to payments for goods, services, charges and/or levies made to a local, state or federal government or statutory authorities or related agencies), transactions for gambling or gaming purposes and reversed or refunded transactions will not count towards your qualifying eligible purchases. For more details of transactions which are not eligible to earn Qantas Points and how these transactions are identified please refer to the ANZ Frequent Flyer Reward Terms and Conditions (PDF 122kB).

Anz application team are awful to deal with

  • Be careful, I signed up to the 160k deal as an existing customer and only got 100k points. After 2 long phone calls I gave up, because their phone staff wouldn’t admit it was a deal even though it’s being advertised in the app.

    ANZ suck.

  • +1

I closed my ANZ Rewards Black card a few months ago. Reading the T&Cs, it seems like I’m considered as a new customer as I haven’t held an ANZ FF card in the past 12 months.
Signing up for this tomorrow. Let’s hope the process isn’t as painful as it was for the Rewards card…

    • Keep us posted on how you go. I'm in a similar situation, had a Rewards Platinum card (Non-FF) about 11 months ago and was just going to wait it out

      • +1

I applied for FF card 6 months after I closed Rewards card and got the 160k points.

  • -1

There's a 160k points deal, as many have already said. No deal.

  • +3

I applied and had to provide every document under the sun. It dragged on for two months. There was two entries made on my credit reference file. It was very time consuming and they questioned every expense and every income amount as I am a self employed professional. In the end I was rejected. Very difficult team to work with.

    • I emailed their ceo last time and got a reply and got it sorted
      Same issue …self employment
I can pm you email address

      • Can you please PM me the CEO email address? Cheers!

  • Hi all. Does any one know whether I am eligible for the 160,000 points when I am an existing ANZ additional card holder? tx

    • +2

      Your eligible

  • +1

Disappointed with ANZ offshore credit team doesn't know shit when it comes to assessing.

    • A rare case when street smarts isn't as useful as book smarts

  • These are all pointless unless Qantas releases more premium seats.

    • Not interested in flights redemption. The 160k offer got me $825 in Wish and Apple Gift cards plus 4 lounge passes which I sold for a total of $150. After the card fee and $225 credit that's $775 net profit.

There's also a $50 wine voucher and $50 hotel voucher in my QFF account.

      Wouldn't call it pointless.

      • Hi! How did it get you four lounge passes?

        • +2

Two from ANZ, two from Qantas for reaching "Points Club" status, with the 160k point (150k points needed).

          • @gadgetguy: Ohhh, gotcha, I thought perhaps you had used some sort of 'calendar year' thing where they say you get 2 complementary lounge passes per yeah and you'd requested in December and then in January for example. But I assume it operates on some sort of Membership year / 12 months since annual fee thing :).

  • Took a month of constant interactions with their credit team and got nowhere. The final straw was on the phone the lady said the format of my business expense records was too complicated for them to read and asked for me to amend and reformat my own document and re-upload again!

They weren't happy to have received my 24 income records too as a sole trader even when they specifically asked for documents for entire financial year.

No idea what's going on with them

  • 160k offer seems to be gone. I could see it before, but can't anymore. Ah well

    • +1

Still shows in my ANZ app.

      • Shows in the app, but when you hit "Apply Now" it takes you to the products page where it advertises 100,000 points, and an additional 30,000 when you keep the card for over a year.

        • +3

Click through again into the application page past that landing page, the 160k offer will show up again on the "First, check you're eligible to apply" page.

  • I have the card for 2 months now.

When do I pay the annual fee?

I just reached 3k spending and wanna get the points and get out soon

  • Hi, where in the anz app I can see the offer?
I have just open the anz progress saving account. But can not see anything.

  • Any hack to join QFF without paying $99 fees ?

    • SO many, give it a quick google or search on this site, I wouldn't be surprised if there is at least 20 ways to get a free QFF account.

      • +1

Just read the benefits of the card section. It does mention complimentary QFF membership currently worth $99.50 if you are not a QFF member yet.

  • My first CC consideration as I’m currently with ANZ and am booking a holiday reasonably soon (so the spend wouldn’t be hard)..

Once you’ve spent the amount and get the points, can you cancel the card before the renewal date? Does this impact anything in the long-term? If you cancel it, can you still use it until the anniversary or is it an immediate process?

    • No insurance on the travel plans after cancelled cars?

    • Yes. No. No - well almost immediately once you submitted the closure request.

  • Debating about whether or not to apply for this or the point hacks offer - does anyone have a rough idea of minimum income required for this card?

    • 75k

      • Thanks!

  • why do I get rejected straight up? They'll be sending a letter in 7 days to explain, they say

  • Pretty smooth approval process for me

    Applied on Sat 8/10
    Approved today Weds 12/10

Turnaround 3 business days. No calls or further questions at all

  • Seems like 160k points offer is gone, seems to be now 110k points and $5000 spend :(

    • yeah I saw this deal a few days ago and was just about the apply for this today too! :(

  • Is the 160k offer still available through the ANZ app?

    • There's a 150k Rewards Points / $150 rebate / $3000 spend on the standard rewards Back. This is not a frequent flyer card though.

Not sure how Rewards Points compare to Qantas Points.

  • Deal now marked as expired

New offer is 110k QFF points, $5k spend, $425 AF, $255 cashback

  • +3

Those who haven't closed their credit card yet, I called ANZ and spoke to Maria and asked if they do pro-rata refund. She said they don't do pro-rata refund but will refund the entire amount (probably because the account was not very old?, didn't ask much cos free money :)

    Timeline
    I was charged $370(annual fee) + $55(Qantas program fee) in 1st statement
Got $225 cashback and 160k qantas points in 2nd statement
I got refunded $370 in last statement.

    Approved 13 July
    1st transaction from 19th July
Closed 4th October and asked for refund over the phone
    Last Statement 28th October

So $170 profit along with 160k bonus points
