So Amazon US has been reopened for us?

    • +1

      When was it closed?

      • Ages ago. They tried forcing people to order from the US via AU site. Then they back-peddled.

        • Then they back-peddled.

          I did not know. Thanks!

just wondering if these (US?) adaptors suit our 240v ?

    • Vast majority of these (cant promise) will be 100-240V. You will need a U.S plug adapter for each

    • +1

      It's in the specs list:
      Voltage 100240 Volts
I guess it means 100/240 Volts

      • +2

no it's 100240 volts, americans do everything big over there.

  • This looks nice but is it overkill for home use? I want to install in a 2 bed house and also have it cover the garden. Would I need another satellite?

The range is super subjective based on the construction materials of your home.

I live in a double storey townhouse and I need 2 satellites and 1 base in order to get a good coverage.

Get this app 'WIFI Sweet Spots' to get an idea how the wireless signal is performing if your house.

Probably better off just getting the google one. The extra money you are paying for this is really only for things you probably won't use like wifi 6 and a dedicated customer support from the business team.

      • I had the Google Wi-Fi and it perform poorly against my Orbi RBK52.

What I like about this set is the ability to isolate your IOT devices on its own SSID, separating it from your personal devices so it’ll highly reduce any DDOS/network breaches.

Mesh can be really helpful in a small house. I used a mesh system in a 2 bedroom apartment because a tiled bathroom in the centre of the floorplan was like the bermuda triangle of wifi signal. Bouncing around it was really helpful, and much faster than what I was able to achieve over powerline adapters.

I'm now using 3x Orbi AC mesh devices in a 2 story 3 bedroom townhouse and get good coverage across the house, with okay coverage in the backyard and crappy coverage out the front - noting that I haven't attempted to optimise the outdoor usage.

Most phones already support wifi 6 and it's generally better than older versions of wifi - faster, handles more devices simultaneously better, etc. This is an expensive kit, but is relatively simple to set up. The other option would be to get some Ubiquiti kit which is a more pro-sumer than consumer, but will require a lot more effort to configure and probably come out a shade more expensive.

Alternatively you can step down to some older iterations of mesh systems and still get great coverage and speeds for less $$.
