  • really? so any refurbished laptop would be 25% back? thats all right!

    • +3

I would assume so if it has "Condition: Refurbished" label in the ad.

    • +1

      If it gets accepted, yes.

  • +4

Just an FYI, the email specifically states "refurbished tech items" where as the ShopBack website just states "refurbished items"

    • In the Shopback Cashback Rates section, it simply has "Refurbished Items".

  • so $750 cashback on this TV from Sony ? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284701482500

    • I computed $681. But yeah base on the info from Shopback above, you should get it.

      • ahhh yes not cashback on the GST :) hmmmm still not sure i trust it LOL

        • I have checked GYB for you:

Yes this item will be eligible for 25%, so long as it has the Refurbished tick at the top of the screen it will count :)

        • It would be $750, see my comment below.

          • -2

@MiscOzB: You must be be new to how CR and SB cash back work LOL

            • @Buy2Much: Uh, no. Pre-GST isn't calculated for local purchases on eBay. So in this case you'd get $750 cashback for that TV.

      • Nah, GST only on international items, so it'd be $750.

    • +3

just cant be right, its too good to be true

  • How about second hand refurbished car?

    • +2

Do you work as a banker ? If so, don’t forget to buy your luxury Mercedes - I hear they are an excellent investment.

  • When does this end?

    • +6

The relentless, cruel march towards our inevitable death?

EDIT: Shopback has no expiry listed. It's simply as "ongoing".

      • Probably means its going to end tonight, at random.

  • +1

Good. I have been eyeing a second hand crane.

  • +3

    Looks open to exploitation.
Buy something new. List it as refurbished. Buy it from yourself and profit 25% cashback. Repeat the process.

    • +4

I don't think private sellers can list things as refurbished anymore?

Edit: Just checked, some categories you can't while others allow you to put down "seller refurbished".
Not sure if that would qualify for this promo, might need to be manufacturer refurbished

Edit 2: It looks like it needs to be "certified refurbished" to be eligible for this promo

Edit 3: It might be just limited to these items

  • wish i can refub house near the beach!

  • +2

    2nd hand wife, anyone?

    • +3

      Selling or buying?

      • +2

Both? Swap and make a quick $25%

    • +5

      2nd hand wife, anyone?

2nd hand does not qualify. Must be refurb first :-p

      • Just buy and fit some refurb implants first - double cashback!

    • Does she have any upgrades?

    • not just 2nd hand, she has to be refub. so you need to pay for her surgeries and sell.

  • Should I buy?? very tempted but at the same time don't want any disappointment

    • YOLO

    • +5

Buy something that has a free returns. If the item doesn't track as 25% then return

      • +2

Yup, this is what I've done. 30 days free returns, if it doesn't track I'll send it back.

Been a couple of hours and no tracking so far, will update if/when it changes.

  • +1

The Shopback site says "Up to 25.00%". What's up with that up to bit?

  • +2

    ohh yeah $4750 cash back ! https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/125038747860

    • I bet you 10k that you well never get that.

      • +1

I doubt it base on GYB's response (it has no Refurb tick like Sony has):

so long as it has the Refurbished tick at the top of the screen it will count

  • "under the eBay Refurbished section" exactly where is the "refurbished section"? as far as I can see Ebay doesn't have a specific page for refurbished items.

      • +1

Adding onto this, the filters appear to show the following sellers (at least when clicking the smartphones category through your link)

harristechnologyaustralia, mobilefederation, wireless1_eshop, mobileciti_estore, greengadgetsaustralia, titan_gear, myphonez00, allphones_online, my- phonez, sydneymobiles, bneacttrader, sydneytec, celltrex, mywit_au, luvyourphone, perfect_preowned, loopmobileau, ctd_au, tekmarketau, ryda-online, nofrillssydney, treasure_pc_online, laptopsparepartsau, sennheiserau

I can't confirm or deny if other or private sellers work

      • Ok so it's only refurbished electronics that are valid for this?

  • +5

"One refurbished API, slightly used - may leak a bit - responds to 'yes'"

  • +2

Pulled the trigger on a refurbished Sony TV I'd been eyeing off.

I'll let you know when ShopBack (profanity) me.

  • And using gift cards doesn't effect cashback?

    • Gift cards never affect cash back. T&Cs in OP.

  • SONY WF1000 XM4 $171.75 after cashback, good deal?

  • +1

fyi eBay will have 20/25% off with Afterpay very soon. may work out better (upfront discount vs cashback), or may not (eligible items). keep an eye out for that deal ;-)

    • +2

There pro and cons to each of them though. Cashback is less proned to Jack as it is done at the backend while Afterpay discount will bring Jack onto pretty much every item

You were right about the risk of not getting the cashback tracked though

    • Will have or might have?

      • +1

will have, but it might be for a specific category only

    • That would be ideal. But it looks like many desirable Sony refurb items are selling out fast today…

  • +2

Who bought the last X95J from Sony -.-

    • Maybe the guy a few comments above!

  • Do I still grt cashback if I accept a best offer?

  • +3

From mobile the search categories are limited so you really have to go over every (profanity) listing.
Ebay search has been stupid for years

  • Australia only?

  • +12

Hey all, just popping this comment in here for anyone unsure:

The 25% Cashback rate is only eligible on Certified Refurbished products.
This means that the item listing needs to have the blue Refurbished tick on the page.
Any "Seller refurbished" items will not be eligible for this 25% rate.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    GYB

I was looking at eBay Refurbished page https://www.ebay.com.au/b/Refurbished-Electronics/bn_7115877…

And it looks like both Seller Refurbished and Certified Refurbished products have a blue refurbished tick on the product page. Can you please elaborate a little bit more? Thanks.

      • +3

        Absolutely!

This item has "Seller refurbished" in the Condition section, with no blue tick on the listing.
This item has the blue refurbished tick on the listing.

So long as that blue tick is visible, the item will be eligible for 25% Cashback :)

    • Could you clarify if all Certified Refurbished products are eligible or only the items under this page are? Is that limited to items from some specified sellers?
      https://www.ebay.com.au/b/Refurbished-Electronics/bn_7115877…

For example, most of the refurb cameras/lenses from ebay Sony are "Certified Refurbished" but they are only found under that link. such as this:

      https://www.ebay.com.au/p/25051340539?iid=284719405355

      • +2

eBay has confirmed with us that any Certified Refurbished items are eligible.
They don't need to be listed on that screen :)

        • thank you!

    • +1

Could I please know how long this particular cashback should take to track?

      • +1

It's been awhile since I've bought anything from eBay and I would also like to know how long tracking takes. Anyone have info to share in this?

        Edit: answered by rep here

  • +1

perfect time to buy refurbished laptop

  • So this would work for a refurb iPhone that is sold and shipped from USA? (And has the blue refurb tick)?

  • Seems like a good deal for the Sony A7C which seems to be included? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284346440708?epid=18041516546&ha…

    • Looks like the last two have been nabbed!

  • Can anyone to advise if 25% cashback applies on Microsoft products (through Microsoft seller)? Many thanks.

  • would this include refurbished segway scooter?

  • +1

Thanks OP, pulled the trigger on a refurbished phone, with blue tick. Now the dreaded wait for the cashback confirmation!

  • Can someone please send me to a r refurbished vr ready laptop. TIA

  • There is no certified coffee machine.
Found refurbished BES980BKS one last item but without blue tick.
I have to wait till TGG on sale 15~20% again.

  • -1

I would advise don't fall into the trap of Shopback.. They will send a standard template that users did not follow instructions and tracking failed.

    Stick with cashrewards.com.au infinitely better

    • Would you be able to reach out to me via DM with your account info so I can take a look into this for you?

  • +4

A tip for finding what you want, just go to ebay, search for whatever such as 'sony', copy the url of the result:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p238005…
then at the end of the result, add this (without the quote) "&LH_ItemCondition=2000"
so the kink for sony search result becomes:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p238005…

So i.e. for anyone who is looking for an iphone, save your time, there is none there:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p238005…

    • There are several iPhone sellers with the refurb blue ticks though:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=iphone+ref…

      • -1

That actually comes to the question if just 'refurbished' is enough, I guess it has to be 'certified refurbished', the items from the sellers you listed are only 'refurbished', which quite possibly are not eligible.

        • +1

As per OP description, GYB confirmed:

This means that the item listing needs to have the blue Refurbished tick on the page.

AFAIK, there is only one type of blue tick "Refurbished" to indicate it is certified. Seller refurbs don't have that. There's no tick that actually say "Certified Refurbished".

          • +2

@Buy2Much: In that case, the text to add to the end oof the url should be "&LH_ItemCondition=2000%7C2010%7C2020%7C2030&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1" instead of &LH_ItemCondition=2000, this will allow other refurbished items to show instead of just the 'certified refurbished ones, then you manually ensure it is with a blue tick. (&LH_PrefLoc=1 means Australia only, it looks like those refurb items outside Australia won't have the blue tick.)

      • +2

I am curious as to exactly what "refurbished" means with the iphones. I searched for 12 Pro and got a bunch and there is no mention of what was done to them (apart from an inspection) to classify them as refurbished vs second hand.

Even the Mobileciti phones don't say what makes them refurbished.

To me they look like second hand phones in "good", "very good" or "excellent" condition - nothing refurbished about them. For refurbished I would have expected a new battery and/or screen (ie. something actually done to them to make them refurbished vs used) ??

  • +1

No cap? FR? That straight bussin

    • You're a mad man

    • I know youre joking but a new Inno3d is barely any more…

      • Before that post it was about $200 (or 250 with gift cards) cheaper than all time low with discount. 100% glad I HODL.

  • Might be worth for $486.75 for the casual/light user.
