  • thats some weird pricing. error? (half price on half price?) wonder if in store

    • No they’ve been doing this for weeks on the Oral B range

      • +10

        You are Djoking right?

        • +3

          Nope. No Djoke.

    • +1

Definitely in store as I just picked one up. Low stock though, they only had 3 at my local.

    • +1

They are likely trying to clear this as Oral B are trying to sell their next gen powered toothbrushes which use a new proprietary brush heads.

      • +2

        Proprietary? As in more proprietary?
Don't tell me the new ones will have a microchip inside, like ink carts..

  • +3

    It’s in store too.

    • +1

Can't seem to look at the screenshot but thanks for the clarification :)

    • I went looking in a few stores last week and was told they had sold out across the country 🙄

  • +1

Have this one but not sure if it's a li-on battery. Hardly lasts 3-4 brushes now. Reviews note it can last week's… Maybe mines broken. Good otherwise.

    • +1

Time to make a warranty claim.

    • Yeah I think the 2000 or 2500 has a lithium ion battery, best to check. But I have had one for maybe two years and I charge it once every fortnight still. It’s great.

    • My old one has an 18650 in it. perhaps this one too?

      • 18650 is pretty cool, get a tabbed one and you can solder the new one in.

    • From my online research the Pro 1500 should have Li-Ion battery, and as far as I can see from the box art provided online it says so on the front of the box…

    • I swapped to the colgate electric toothbrushes for this and a few other reasons. Feels like a dream on the gums now. Plus lasts 3 or so weeks between charges.

    • I duno, most of these really need to be charged daily after a year.

  • $50 threshold for C&C in Brisbane

    • Apologies, seems as though it's $50, have updated.

      • Thanks for identifying this special! Its such a good deal, if only I hadn't been to Coles last night and needed stuff

  • +12

    "2min professional timer"

Again, the use of the word professional for a profession that doesn't exist.

    • +10

Thats what i keep telling my missus

      • +2

It's my fault I let it annoy me, but it digs deep.

    • +2

+1 For me it is when people ask " What does the sign say?", or anything that has been written or typed. Typed words are read, they are not spoken. You should ask what does the sign read.

      • +1

But people don’t normally ask “what does the sign read”, they ask “what does the sign say”. That’s how the word is used in common language, therefore it’s a perfectly acceptable meaning of the verb “to say”.

        • I totally agree that it is acceptable to say " What does it say?", hey I say it also, because when I say "read" instead of "say" people look at me like I am an elitist snob. So I just laugh and say " I must be going deaf because I can't hear the sign. Just because it is accepted, does not mean that it is correct.

Download the coles app, set your store to local and see the pricing of it to confirm before going in.
Does seem to be this price everywhere.

  • +1

Have this for about 1 year and it's on it's way out. Hardly last as someone says more than 4 brush before needing recharge. I did buy the smart 1 as a backup during fathers day special so I'm hoping for this to die so I can use the other one! lol

    • Just purchased the smart 1 last week and its been great so far. The other person with a disalibity I bought one for has been brushing their teeth more and we can check their progress. I thought it would have a few more features.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Buy first n think later. Great savings!

  • +2

Whats worked for me and family of these is to not have the charger plug in until its needed. So charge it fully then use it until not working then fully charge and then unplug untill needed again. Nome of mine have had battery issues and some are 10y+ old. Even the really cheap kids version has been going for 4 years and only needs a charge every 2-3 weeks or so

    • Wow thats a long time
. I have the cheap ones and they start to die with this approach too in a year. I stocked a few when HN had them for $10

    • +1

Yeah I only charge it when it needs to, but can definitely tell the battery doesn't hold as much charge anymore compared to when first bought.

    • +2

Sure, but you're Fred Flintstone, so yours is charged by a dinosaur running around on a cog.

    • This one has a lithium battery though, your technique works well for the old ones with the Nickel Cadmium battery, but I think it may be better for the Lithium ones to not drain them down fully.

      • My Nickel Cadmium battery one needs to be charged constantly otherwise the battery gets low after 1 use haha. No big deal but I suppose it's at the end of it's useful life, so I purchased this one.

I've wondered what is the best way to ensure the Lithium battery lasts as long as possible.

Given say it suppose to last 2 weeks. Maybe charge it once a week at say 50%.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed a couple.

  • +5

Thought I'd share this hack I followed for my cheap oral b vitality toothbrush. I see some comments about battery life problems. I followed the instructions in the linked video to replace the ni-cad battery with an eneloop AA battery. It's been working great for over a year now and even gets better rpm. I was able to just use a soldering iron to connect the battery terminal.

    https://youtu.be/e5uD2j3Sx28

    • Apparently "Sealed inside the handle of the 1500 is a rechargeable, Lithium-Ion battery."

      • My online research also shows the 1500 has a Li-Ion battery…. maybe they include a crap one?

        • The box says Li-Ion battery 2 weeks+ usage, the same as the Pro II 2000.

      • +2

I was referring to the vitality, the cheapest oral b toothbrush. Get one of those and put an eneloop in it and it works much better than new.

    • +4

The manufacturers could have easily designed for ease of battery replacement to reduce landfills but they won't do it unless they're compelled to

  • FWIW I’ve got the pro 700 and it’s been fine for a year

  • Grabbed the last two off shelf at Forest Lake, QLD this morning. Not sure if they have more out the back. No special ticket.

  • Got 4 thanks

  • +1

Have two of these exact ones from Coles and both dead in a year.

    • Did you leave it on charge all the time or only when flat?

      • Even if you charge it all the time, it should last more than 2 years.

        Warranty is 2 years.

  • Can we pay with flybuy dollars? Can't seem to find such payment option.

    • Yes you can. Pay as credit card

  • Showing as temporarily unavailable now.

    • +1

Try to select a different store, it will show as unavailable if it's not available at your selected store.

  • +1

My local Coles in Bundoora VIC had them listed at $58.50 and would not sell at $29.25. They advised it was an online error that is being fixed? If you can still get it at this price , jump on it quick

  • Thanks OP! Got the last one at Coles Collingwood. Scanned at $29.25 with no questions asked.

    • Dang! Decided to roll the dice on a click and collect from Coles Collingwood tomorrow. Hopefully they have more round back.

  • Thank you! I got the last one at World Square.

  • Grabbed a couple, there was no tag on the shelf but they scanned up as 29.25

  • Just grab and go…to self checkout. Once paid ask the staff to unlock the tag. No need to go staff cashier.

  • Got one for a family of 6 in a true ozbargainer way. Now looking for cheap replacement heads 😂

    • Ali express cheapies are good value

      • +2

        Not recommended.

Just buy the genuine when on sale. They are only like $3-4 each.

        • Sadly even the legit ones seem to only last like 2months for me at max, after that lose shape.

          • @nephilim: 3 months is the recommended time they should be replaced.

Mine still look good after 3 months.

Perhaps you're brushing too hard? Let the electric toothbrush do the work for you.

I bought generic twice. 1 started to fall apart and the other made my gums bleed lol… I now stick with geniune

  • Oral-B Pro 1500, what is the difference with 2000?

  • Apparently Coles chadstone have identified it as a system error, so not sure how long it will last.

I grabbed the last one at Malvern.

  • Smart 1 also on special for $67.50 - saving $82.50.

  • Also noticed Piksters are half price.

  • Went in to Coles local and it scanned for $75. After 20 mins waiting for the manager to call who knows what she refuse to honour it in the end and say it is only valid for Coles Online shopping and asked me to buy it through coles online. Bought 2 anyways but hopefully they will honour it this time.

  • ordered two online for C&C, thank you OP

  • Picked up 2- showing as $130 RRP on shelf (other versions are on half price selling), but scanned at $29.25. Thanks OP!

  • +1

My electric toothbrush died 2 days ago so this is perfect! Went in to the local Coles and it had no discount listed, so i did what others suggested and went through the self checkout ready to bail on it if i had to. Scanned at $29.25, thanks!!

    • +5

I always get massive discounts when going through the self checkout.

      • -1

And I as an honest customer pay for your massive discounts.

        • +1

Yeah the supermarket giants want us to believe this kind of narrative. Their profits are still soaring. They cut overheads by installing self service checkouts and continue to expand them. Any loss from theft is most definitely factored into this model and certainly offset by savings in wages and other costs. Them somehow attributing theft as the reason for rising prices on their products is most definitely smoke and mirrors.

  • +1

Bought it this morning at Coles World Square. There wasn't any signs of the product being on sale on the shelves. Took it to the counter and it scanned for $29.95.

Only 2 left when I went this morning (1 left after I got one).

  • Managed to get one. Thanks OP. Great deal

  • So Coles no free C&C , must over $50 ?

    • I just bought 2 because of this; but they won't provide if out of stock so I might not get it at all.

  • no sign of the sale either, price checked to be 1.23
    thanks OP

  • It is fine to charge the toothbrush constantly no matter what type of battery used.
The charging is very slow that there are minimal degradation effects.

  • +1

Went to Coles Springvale, Brandon Park, and Waverley Gardens - no stock :(
Ordered online instead - will see how I go.

  • Anyone have a good deal for replacement heads - or like the best "type" of head to keep an eye on?

    • Wait for Costco sale, 16 x cross action for $49.99

    • +1

The cross action heads works the best for me. I've been using it on my cheap vitality Oral B. Not sure if it will fit on the Pro 1500. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

      • It does. I've used cross action on vitality and 2000 (which is the same as this current model)

  • I just went through coles on the shelf it says pricing error should be $58.25 scanned at $29.25 still though.

  • Wasted trip to Coles to pick up an order placed & paid for this morning for this.. wish they'd send a message saying they don't have part of an order

    • +1

They do. Most of the time it’s after you’ve already collected the order haha.

I find the service’s convenience factor to be largely offset by how many items in your order they substitute or apparently can’t fulfil. So you still end up having to go into the store or get a refund for unsuitable substitutes. I’ve also gone into the store and the item they apparently are out of stock of is right there.

  • Two more left at coles balgowlah.

  • +1

Good price but I seriously would stay away from Oral-B brushes, Philips Sonicare ones are so much better in terms of cleanness and battery life. YMMV

  • +2

Click and collect swapped my order for the Pro 800 (more expensive but inferior), ended up cancelling.

    • +1

      same here

    • Pro 800 is better than Pro 1500? So confused.

      • it is more expensive currently

      • No the Pro 1500 is better than the Pro 800 - but due to the pricing error, the Pro 800 is more expensive right now - clearly when coles looks at substitutes they primarily focus on choosing a more expensive option. In this case (technically) the Smart 1 would have been a better replacement as it contains all the features of the Pro 1500.
