    Are these vpro enabled cpus?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Does it come with nvme or 2.5 ssd?

  • +3

These don't officially support win 11, only 8 series and above does. Are there any 8 series CPU units for sale?

    • Probably not for $199.

  • +1

these are excellent low power machines with decent performance. i tend to keep 1 of these as a backup for running home assistant in the event my current setup dies. Personally find them more reliable than a pi.

    • True, these machines are great.

      • +1

that translates to "We won these products off of auction and re selling it for higher price".

    • What do you use as your home assistant set up? I was thinking of getting something like the 7060 micro to replace a current Pi, and also add in a frigate nvr (if I can ever find a coral). Just wondering if that's even worth while

      • I personally use Proxmox running on an old fanless PC with an i5 4200U but picked one of these up as a slight upgrade with more RAM and to repurpose the old PC for Octoprint and a few other tasks. Home Assistant is running as a dedicated VM. It's been great as it has been rock solid and the handful of times I've stuffed something up or an update has gone bad, a quick restore and I'm back online.

    Dell? Too soon mate..Too soon.

If I get the 16gb version, can you make it so that it comes with 1 x 16gb stick? I might want to upgrade it to 32gb down the line…

    • This please

  • Do these have any room or ports to install an internal 3.5” HDD for storage?

    • +3

No these are about the same size as a 3.5" drive..

I see where they get all these products from… Grays!

    • Lol. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if you wanted to take the risk of buying 100 units to get the discount to make it viable…

    • +1

Real Sherlock Holmes level detective work there mate, good one.

      • -2

they bid it off of pickles and graysonline then test the product and resell it for higher price. people still buy these things. it's 2022. how are people so dumb?

        • Exactly, it’s like they expect the people that put in the effort to buy a bunch of these things, tidy them up and sell them individually should do it for free.

          • @Mitch889: I bought(won) one from grays online needed to do nothing. came in good condition inside and out and with higher specs. running proxmox ve on that one. win win for me.

shipping $35.28 sort of kills it.

  • have you got any with 8th gen i5s?

    • we will be posting some dell 7060m on our website soon.

      • How much?

        • it will be $350 plus, once posted on our website, we will share the link.

          • +2

@untech: and the discount code will bring it down to $299?

      • Any updates on this?

  • Probably wishful thinking but do you have any Lenovo laptops with 8th gen processors and 16gb (similar to the dell laptop posted the other day)?

    • +2

      Hi
Yes we do, we will post them on our website in next couple of days.
we have some X1 Carbons i5-8th gens on our website.

  • Who cares about win 11. 10 is good enough. And way better than a Pi.

    • +1

Windows 11 is good if you want security updates, etc. beyond October 2025.
It can depend on your use case, but if planning to be online, I'd prefer a purchase today be supported for more than 3 years.

  • Are the 16gb upgrade, 1 stick ? Is it possible to request that when ordering?

  • We would be using the 8GB Sticks not 1 single 16GB Stick.

  • Does this come with Windows 11 Pro, but I have to install it? Noting how the option is set up on webpage.

    • We install it for you. We have to go through our checking after installation to make sure all the drivers/ports are working.

  • Is there any way to get these with 32gb RAM?

    • Reach out to us through website and we can add it manually.

  • any way I could get a 10GB NIC connected too or in a unit like this?

    • Yes, use a USB 3 network adaptor that supports 10Gb link rate.

  • Can this be rack mounted?

  • Don't ship to PO Boxes? On your website it says Australia post

    • we do ship to Australia Post.
please contact us through our website, we will sort it out for you

      • The address area doesn't accept PO BOX address, If you can fix that, I can submit an order.

  • does putting in a 2.5” drive require a drive sled? And is it included?

    • The manual shows the 2.5" drive sitting in a tray, so you'd hope said tray comes with the machine. It would be helpful if @untech (or @untechsupport) could confirm this.

    • Mine came with a sled.

  • Four months ago, I bought a refurbed Dell OptiPlex 7040 with a 256 Gb SSD for $237.30 (postage included). It came with a mini WiFi dongle and Windows 10 installed. My machine does not have WiFi built in.

My Dell OptiPlex 7040 works well. It is tiny, about the size of 2 video cassettes placed side by side. It is quiet and has a quick start up. It has no optical drives.

  • Can we per-order dell 7060m?

  • What's the chipset for the NIC ? Any ideas what the idling power consumption is ?

    • Any ideas what the idling power consumption is ?

Modern CPUs barely have any power consumption at idle. If it's a 35W CPU, this is roughly it's rated consumption at full load. At idle, modern CPUs barely use any power (it'll still use a bit in PSU losses, RAM, Drives, etc. - but these are consumptions that you can't escape)

      • yeah - that's what I meant, how much power from the wall socket it is sucking when idle. It matters if this is a 24/7 box.

        • Are you asking because you're looking for the lowest power consumption ?
If so, all tiny machines like this have very similar power consumption at idle - it doesn't really make much difference what you choose.
This machine is a fine choice, it's only a 35w CPU even at load.

If you're looking for the lowest possible power consumption, then there's no such thing - modern processors perform roughly as their power consumption suggests. A 70w CPU can use twice as much power as this one under load … but it will also potentially finish the task in half the time. At idle the power use won't be much different.

  • Anyone got any thoughts as to how these machines may go as a Plex Server?

  • Just ordered one. With 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD it comes out to $278 after the 7off code.

Not bad for a W11 computer that would realistically live under the TV turned on most of the day.

    Should last for years.

I've seen these optiplexes used commercially turned on 24/7 for 5+ years.

Does anyone know what wi-fi standard these use? Also bluetooth?

  • Ey yo, can dis do 4k 60fps? I need it to drive a ultrawide monitor.

  • In case anyone is wondering, my order arrived a couple of days ago. Device was in really good condition as per the listing. Came with a Lite On M.2 drive installed. I did have a very minor issue and customer service got it fixed in a couple of days so overall happy with the experience.
