        • With all this lore, surely they have to honour it now

    • To replace the deal with the Sussexes?

    • Or maybe as COPE
      Chief of price error

  • +4

Why does my 34'' seem small today?

    • +2

I cant use my computer now with this 27" POS

    • +1

      I’m 8” and I think it’s just right

      • -1

        Thats, she will say disagrees

  • +3

We may have to class action Dell? Thus establishing the Muzeeb precedent for all future ozbargainers

  • +3

So what if they made the first 100 sign a contract where if they get it they ‘can’t’ talk about (fight club) it to anyone???
    Hmmmm ponders if worth it.

    • +2

They threw in a Dell printer as well so I could print off my NDA

  • +15

Apparently Muzeeb was spotted at the AusPost Business Hub in Alexandria getting discounted stamps to post the monitors to us.

    • +3

No way, I saw him earlier today running into JB HiFi desperately seeking out Alienware 38" Curved Gaming Monitors.

Apparently he was repeatedly muttering to himself "I must serve the curve".

      • +3

Weirdly, i saw him in officeworks today printing shipping labels and running in circles curves looking for packing material (bubble wrap, tape, etc)

        • +2

No way. Little bird told me Dell ceo sent him to dell warehouse in siberia to pack 10,000 monitors for ozb

    • +2

I'd actually just finished making some risotto for lunch on the nearby park barbecue when I ran into Muzeeb. He says for everyone to check their order status this evening for an update.

    • +1

Now that mujeeb has shipped all the monitors using auspost after collecting them from JB hi-fi, he is now on a flight back to Hyderabad, where he arrived from earlier in the day. Legend.

  • +1

My order went from Confirmed to In Production!
    Could this be it?

    • -3

      Screenshot?

      • +5

why do people want screenshots as if there is no trust in the community anymore? we already have people claiming that their orders have progressed through Production and even posted screenshots (myself included)

        • +5

There has been multiple troll comments recently. It's hard to believe what's real or what's photoshopped.

          • +3

@FDA2021: Not recently actually… Since last night ever since Equator Tree shared his method there were legitimate and proven way to get the orders confirmed within that few hours window if you managed to get through the queue. There were no more photoshopped troll posts.

I think the only thing we haven't heard is if anyone who didn't request to have their orders re-issued actually got their orders confirmed. If that was really the case it would provide some sort of hope for those that couldn't make it through the chat queue last night.

            • @meong: So I just need to ask the assistant to reissue my order? I'm in the queue now and I was reading they don't accept PayPal when re-issuing orders

            • +1

@meong: Yeah it doesn’t mean anything, they might just get a refund Monday

              • +1

@DemocracyManifest: Yeah thats why i worded it as 'some sort of hope'

I'm sure Dell is smart enough to take company wide action to prevent the monitors from going out.

    • Mine gets shipped 19th

      • Did you speak to online chat?

    • +2

did you do the order re-issuing via chat or was it simply from the original order on Friday morning?

  • -2

    Woohoo!

    • -1

      ?

      • -1

        Woohoo?

  • +5

Looks like Dell has disabled their online chat lol

    • +5

It's because mujeeb is on the plane back to Hyderabad.

  • +3

I own one of these monitors - can confirm it's so much real estate, it's actually challenging to adapt to. I've actually met Michael Dell in Vegas, and I'm hoping Dell remember this and therefore process our orders.

  • Considering most dell employees dont care and just approve stuff. Hopefully this gets processed.

    • Big doubt. Everyone’s going on online chat and the company has more or less confirmed it will be cancelled. I got in early and the invoice doesn’t look right and no money came out: as above has stated it’s because it’s under cost price. No chance. The guys who tried to get them to push through their order initially may get one but I reckon it’s unlikely

      • Yeah mine is confirmed and a charge had been made out of my cc but only a pending charge so i don't have high hope it will be honoured…

      • +1

Sometimes it's best not to provoke the company, if those people didn't eagerly ruin it for the rest, most of you would have most likely got it. They don't go around looking for ways to save the company money. The company doesn't judge staff by those KPI, so if orders are cancelled and people lose out, it's because of those who were asking for it.

I personally didnt buy any more monitors since bought quite a few carefully stacking friend's staff discounts.

        • Yeah they were ringing and harassing them, great work (profanity)

I got through the Online Chat with Chintamani, and they said told me

"Unfortunately im really sorry to tell you that there was some prices glitch in the wesbsite due to which no order confirmation has been sent to the customers
We are working with the legal team and marketing team on this issue
As soon as we hear from them you will get the update about your order"

    • +9

Legal team… not a good sign

      • Indeed

      • +1

some prices glitch in the wesbsite

      • +2

        They’re coming for us

        • +10

Harvey Spector … where are you

      • +1

could be because they're checking if they can held liable for anything?

or if Dell has some sort of insurance for this kinda thing but idk if that's how it works lmao

    • +1

Let’s hope the marketing team wins and has a fat budget for FY23

    • which no order confirmation has been sent to the customers

So those able to get onto online chat, still didn't have a confirmation.

  • +7

3.3 Dell may process payment for and ship parts of an order separately. Dell reserves the right at any time, even after we send you a confirmation email, to decline or cancel your order or to limit order quantities for any reason, including ERRORS or suspected fraud.

4.2 Dell uses reasonable endeavors to communicate accurate pricing and Product information, however errors may occur. In the unlikely event that an error affects your order, or a Product that you have ordered is no longer available, we will either contact you for instructions or cancel your order and refund any money you have paid for the relevant Products.

    • +3

Already stated here clearly, at the end of the day Dell will just tell all of us to F.O. cancel & refund, everyone just enjoy your weekend!

      • +4

i think the reason alot of people is hanging on to hope so much is cuz dell is super chill like I had an entire laptop motherboard replaced cuz one of my typec ports broke after warranty all for free

dells probably just doing the math in their head to avoid as big as a lash back as possible

plus the legal stuff just seems like regular old boilerplate stuff so that they are legally able to do what they want in a mistake, this is more about morality and keeping a good image right?

yes I had a larger than normal dose of hopium this morning

  • +1

I'm in this deal as well and want this deal to become reality as much as everyone else.

However, I'm not sure what kind of backlash that would terrible enough for Dell to think that sacrificing hundreds of thousands of profit (potentially) would be the better option. Probably upset and disgruntled customers - just need to wait for the anger to go away and for us to forget about this. They probably going to come up with some other deal(s) that's excellent in value but more sustainaible for their pocket and then we'll be jumping all over it - already forgetting what happened.

Remember that legally, they don't have to honour this, there's no legal ground or avenue that we, as a customer, can use to take them to court. There's no class action lawsuit or anything like that, that can come out of this - should they choose to walk away.

    • +4

In the end it will just be a marketing (potential good image gain vs financial (immediate profit loss) decision - which I think if the restrict it to one unit per order, still be a good marketing deal for 300ish units.

      • +1

        True…

Well, I've never been in anything like this while I'm part of OZB. I know about Bunnings and the drone, but that kind of price honouring is extremely rare.

Anyway, just accept and make peace with the most likely outcome - which is, they'll cancel. Enjoy the weekend.

I do find it odd though that they don't just straight away cancel the orders. However, I won't hold my breath for this one.

        • +4

Keep hearing this Bunnings drone deal as a reference and I only found out about it today that it happened in 2019…

I feel like i need to take off my OzB badge for not knowing 😂

          • @meong: Yes the dreaded bunnings drone that i missed out on by about half an hour due to being asleep

      • +2

Missed out on the deal (to my regret) but if Dell honours this I'd be highly surprised. 300 units, with a very generous assumption that Dell only loses $300 per unit, is 90K… huge for a bunch of people who are the most un-loyal customers on the planet lol

If they do honours, hands down greatest OzB in history I'd say.

        • +1

Is that how many they sold? I would have thought a lot more than 300. Happy if so as it may not seem as bad for them financially.

        • I doubt there losing $300 at the price of $249. the 249 is probably around their cost price, if anything it is merely a lose of POTENTIAL profit from the stock they would usually be selling at RRP.

I know i'm probably biased, but if it was my business - I would honour it.

          • @OzBerghainer: Monitor regularly sells for $1200+; at $300 that's a 75% profit margin which I'm pretty sure would put their margins above Apple level… seems unlikely.

Regardless, hopefully they honour it for everyone who got an order in

      • -1

are they really going to sacrifice 300k for image tho, feels like they'll take the money and run

  • +3

Didn't realise there is so many certified lawyers on OzB!

  • Looks like price glitch is usual habit of Dell. Bumped into the below article from 2009.

    https://www.computerworld.com/article/2526569/dell-fined-in-…

    • +1

      That's 13 years ago lol.
If it was more commonplace, we would have had seen more of these deals on ozbargain

  • +3

Monday shall be an interesting day. Higly doubt there will be any communications officially till then. Ideally I hope they honour 1 item per person, anyone that ordered more than 1 could maybe be honored in being able to order a single item with the rest refunded. Would probably reduce financial damage by 50% while keeping everyone in Dells good-graces.

I'll tell ya what though, I'll be visiting the dell site a hell of a lot more after this whole debacle.

    • Between work and personal laptops and PC parts, I have a disgusting amount of Dell products.
Definately going to keep the business purhcases with Dell if they honor this.

      • +2

        Dell if you’re reading this
I will buy an Alienware PC if you honor this

        • 🤣

        • OK but you have to buy this one.

          • +1

@ttkc: No worries, looks like a perfect pair with the monitor.

  • +1

    Someone is getting fired

That's Muzeeb's new name when he reapplies

        • +5

Just checked his LinkedIn profile. Interests… Looking for a job.

          • @RSmith: All jokes aside, he’s been there for just shy of 8 years. I really hope this won’t affect his job. Not his fault.

      7 stages of grief:

Shock and denial: This is a state of disbelief and numbed feelings.
Pain and guilt: You may feel that the loss is unbearable and that you’re making other people’s lives harder because of your feelings and needs.
Anger and bargaining: You may lash out, telling God or a higher power that you’ll do anything they ask if they’ll only grant you relief from these feelings or this situation.
Depression: This may be a period of isolation and loneliness during which you process and reflect on the loss.
The upward turn: At this point, the stages of grief like anger and pain have died down, and you’re left in a more calm and relaxed state.
Reconstruction and working through: You can begin to put pieces of your life back together and move forward.
Acceptance and hope: This is a very gradual acceptance of the new way of life and a feeling of possibility for the future.

I am personally at the Depression stage, tomorrow will probably be the upward turn and when Mr. Dell finally gives us his answer on Monday we will have moved on to the acceptance stage.

      Kumbayaaaaaaa…

Whats the record of most amount of comments on a deal?

    • 7,571.

      • was that the deal for adderall? nobody could stfu about it

  • +6

    DELL!!!

If you, Dell, are reading through the comments, please realise that many people's lives are at stake here. People have hinged their entire existence and self-worth on receiving this lovely monitor. We greatly appreciate the generous pricing you offered during the unannounced happy-hour.

Please honour the deal and be on the right side of history.

Comment and tell us you hear us, Dell.

    • I actually know the contractor who handles (or at least used to, haven't be in touch for a couples of years now) Dell's Australian ebay store. She does frequent Ozbargain, well I mean, she has to as part of her job. So Dell will be fully aware of this thread

    • +1

Hi. It's your Dell representative here. Sorry, I'm currently on the shi$ter. You're business is important to us, please leave a message and we shall respond once we are no longer on the shi$ter

  • I am pretty sure some of the orders will be honoured while some will be cancelled on the basis of stock. With the number of orders they would have gotten, they are not going to produce more to honour the deal. Best case would give away the in stock items.

    • Why are you so sure? Just got off the phone with Michael Dell?
