[Box Damaged] Sony KD55X80K 55" X80K 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV (Google TV) $1139.05 Delivered @ Sony eBay

360
BRAND5OFF

I just grabbed one of these for the games room. Seems a significant discount over any other price I can find.
First deal post :-) Hope its ok.

  • Update * - TV was delivered after about a week and half (I live in a semi-rural area). There was indeed a hole about an inch diameter in the middle back of box. Like something had been jabbed through it. The delivery guy said the box is damaged, would I like to check it before he leaves. I said yes. We opened up the box and everyhing was perfect. Brand new TV, never opened. All packaging sealed and in tact, all the protective film in place.

      This.
Don't ever trust Sony's bogus "box damaged" claims.

I have bought 2 in the past and both were brand new in undamaged boxes.

    • Is that good or bad?

Second-hand worse than new but box is damaged? Think that's pretty self explanatory.

I bought "box damaged" headphones and they were completely defective

      • What , the box or the headphones?

I had the same experience. I ordered a box damaged 65-inch X90J and received an improperly packaged used TV with a broken screen. Such a nightmare.

Being Sony's entry level, only 60hz, no VRR, is this even worth the price here new..?

    read all the negative feedback.

big pass but price looks ok

  • Not sure is worth the price honestly. Given how cheap better TVs have been.

A low end 55" TV for over $1k is not a deal in my opinion. Also from others comments sounds like a gamble regarding if you get a used one or not. Congrats on first post though.

Getting a shonky 55" tv for this price, especially a Sony with their almost non existent warranty after 1 year is playing roulette, good luck

Sony recently repaired my 3 and half year old 55" that had a main board failure. Covered it under ACCC Consumer Guarantee. Didn't give them an option but they didn't argue really. Of course they tried the 'it's out warranty, but we can fix it for a fee etc..' but when I pushed back claiming ACCC they folder quicker than the Broncos.

      • Lucky you !

        • It's law. Not luck mate.

          • @start3r: It's actually luck … plenty of pages here where sony magically says 'sorry we dont keep parts for 2 y old tv, here we give u 30% discount if u buy a new one'

ACCC law doesnt mean jack when big mega corps figure out all the loops to weasel their way out of it

      • Did you just mention it or have them the full fingerprint or link etc?

Note the Sony eBay has really bad customer service. Got major delays just having a sound bar sent and then it had a fault. Support gave inconsistent advice and even more run arounds. 3 months after buying did the sound bar I purchased come back working.

Sony feels like it's becoming one of them companies that's trading on its historical reputation but in reality, it's cost cut their organisation to become sub-par

  • I just bought a x85j 55inch seconds from Sony ebay store for $1029 delivered.. Ordered in Saturday and arrived Monday. Only issue I had was a dent in the box on arrival, I told DHL I'm opening it first to inspect for damage and it was just box damage… TV is mint brand new working great.

  • Should be QLED for this price

Box damaged is just marketing so they can undercut their retailers without upsetting them.
