This is designed for Small Businesses, And new accounts. Usually Domain deals don't go down well because of there supplier (GoDaddy) etc.. But maybe Yahoo may change that!
Usually $9.99, With discount $1.99.

nop
domains with .com.au for some reason need an ABN.
It's a legal requirement.
to protect aussies from fraud.. you can use any ABN number when registering .com.au its stupid, they never check..
they never check
But some people do.
Recently someone registered some domains using OzBargain's ABN (with MYOB/SmartyHost, probably from this deal). Then the Trademark Owner of that domain name came knocking on MY door (okay, not literally). It took weeks as the go-betweener to get SmartyHost to have that domain de-registered.
So if you don't own an ABN, DO NOT use other people/company's ABN to register a domain. They have every right to de-register that domain or take your domain away.
Care to explain the price after first year?
"$9.95/year for your first term. Price after term expires: $34.95/year."
LOL, and i bet they will own the domain name so you cant change!
It looks like when you sign up, you must authorise recurring payment, unless you "cancel the plan". But once you cancel the plan, you can no longer access the settings for your domain or have any control over it. The idea is to make you not cancel the plan until the very last moment, so if you don't cancel in time, you'll get charged $35 for the next year… dodgy eh?
So, can you pay via PayPal & break the link that lets Yahoo! charge you via PayPal?
Here's a summary of agreement on payment (found near the tick "I understand…(T&C)" box):
"I understand that the recurring charges listed below apply to this order, and that I will be billed for these charges on an auto-renew basis for each term, until I cancel. If I choose to cancel, I will no longer receive or be charged for any future term, but no refund will be provided."
But if you cancel your Paypal link, will it also automatically "cancel the plan" and render the domain settings unadjustable for the remainder of the year?
Transfer the domain before the year is up..
+1
If you have another registra could you not transfer away after registration?
OP, I consider it misleading to suggest that normal price (per year) is as stated - by you - $9.95. I suggest $35.00 is closer to the truth.
Obviously, they charge ~ $35 / year, from year 2, so best-case price / average (for 2 years) is ~ $18.50 / year.
(If that's in US$'s, it could cost a few pennies more.)
Not If you only plan on using this deal for a year
…AND if you don't forget to cancel in time
I watched a colleague get this result, after going thru the above Deal purchase:
"Your domain is pending.
The pending state occurs for all domain registrations and changes, which can take up to 72 hours to propagate across the Internet."
Maybe you'll may get a day or 3's "grace period" before you have to cancel… after all:
Theres always a propagation, noted that this is long, but most of the time people dont get a domain and instantly have a website to shoot out to the world.
3 days is not that long, and i assume its more if you buy on Friday night. I'm Sure it will be up tomorrow arvo
Don't forget that Yahoo is behind us so it will be unlikely to be up on their Sunday! (our Monday)
Up to 72 hours.. Propagation is about 12-24 hours MAX.. I doubt it will ever be 72 hours.. !!
If GoDaddy hadn't supported some bad US laws (until its users left it in droves), I'd say:
After 60 days of rego with Yahoo!,
just transfer your $2 domain name
to GoDaddy.com (costs ~ US$9
last time I checked, for which
you also get a 2nd year of rego.
If that's the right transfer cost,
that means: 2 years of rego cost ~ $11 not bad for a .COM)
If your lucky, GoDaddy.com will throw in a .INFO (with same domain name prefix) free for a year. Check with 'em.
com.au also ?
