  • Yeah my third day is tomorrow !

    • Today was my third day too, did all my searches and it won’t update to 3/3 days, stuck on 2/3. How’d yours go?

      Edit* nvm finally worked

  • -4

    Brave and Youtube Vanced

    • +1

Do they work with Alexa devices?

      • +1

        Sure
connect your alexa to your phone (via bluetooth such that your alexa is acting like a bluetooth speaker).

        • +7

          So not really then

          • -1

@TEER3X: Yes it does. Just connect the Spotify skill

    • +1

I think youtube vanced has been discontinued

      • +1

        Still works for me

      • +3

        discontinued != discon-working

      • They've been shut down and I don't think the link is available any more for the .apk as a result. The app still works if you have it downloaded before that happened. You might be able to move it from one phone to another but I'm no techspert so I couldn't tell ya

        • +2

I can confirm if you have the .apk of vanced, you can share it and install on other phones even though it has been discontinued.

      • -1

        Just use newpipe

      • r/revancedapp

    • -1

Or pay Tidal MQA for good listening quality

      • +2

Mqa is a sham. It's clever upsampling. Better stick to lossless

        • +1

It doesn't even upscale it. It Normally shows an incorrect sample/bitrate to trick people. Most people think that mqa Is from hires (24 bit 44.1 - 192) files but most are cd quality files (16 bit 44.1) files and people think that they are higher quality.
Also mqa has been proven to be lossy like Spotify.

    • +1

      nah blockthespot and x manager

  • +2

I sign up every 3 months for free. Nothing new.

    • Do you have to use different payment? PayPal doesn’t seem to work for multiple uses

  • Got a link?

    • +3

if you login your microsoft account online, should be under Rewards -> Earns

    • -4

      Got a link?

      Here you go…

  • +4

I had this once, signed up but didn't use it for all 3 months, can't find an use for spotify

    • +29

You can use it to listen to music.

      • -3

too complex for me, I use Youtube to listen to songs and it is free.

        • +1

YouTube Music isn't free and requires a Premium membership assuming you want access the entire catalog without ads and play songs while the app is closed. Spotify also have a free version with ads.

          • @Borg: I use normal Youtube with Firefox + uBlockOrigin :D even supports minimized playing on Android.

            • @bazingaa: yeah that's right Vanced Extended supposedly still works. Firefox with plugin is good. You can also use FFmpeg if you are good with that tool and commands to convert to mp3

        • +1

It's useful if you listen on a Google or Alexa device.

  • -1

    What if you use Mac?

    • +4

Microsoft Edge can be downloaded on Mac! I actually use it this way as my main browser, it’s my favourite

      • So it's better than Google Chrome?

        • +6

It's essentially the same as chrome, just without the google bloat.

        • +1

More or less the same. Biggest advantage is vertical tabs. But I switched away when it started flinging annoying rewards crap in my face.

          • @askvictor: There is a toggle to turn off the rewards stuff, I haven't used it myself so I'm not sure how much it turns off.

            • @incipient: Turns off all of it! I did straight away and forgot the rewards program existed until I saw this hahaha

          • @askvictor: You've always been able to remove the rewards part, you just switch it off and you'll never see it again, if that part annoys you.

    • +14

      What if you use Mac?

Then you probably ask a lot of basic questions

    • A user-agent changer is your friend.

  • Anybody heard anything about Spotify Hifi?

    • lol, never going to happen

      • I have used apple music on hifi with a good dac and proper amps and speakers and there's very little difference between spotiify and apple music 192/24… in fact there might be no audible difference.

        • +1

I think it's possible to tell a difference but 320kbps is very good. You won't ever be able to tell the difference between cdq and "hires"

  • +16

Ahem. Isn’t Spotify already giving 3 months of premium for free for those that haven’t tried it before? (Same as this deal but without Bing searches for 3 days)

    https://www.spotify.com/au/

    • +1

      Wow 3 less clicks, thanks

    • Yep. Thought maybe, just maybe the Microsoft code would allow premium without needing to enter payment details at least, but not even.

  • +4

they really have to pay you to use bing and edge

    • +5

Bing (or any other engine, ddg, etc.) is good to use to spread data away from Google and a single seo system.

Edge is definitely leaner than Chrome. Firefox is also a great alternative if you're not really into having a single account across all devices/using sync.

      • +2

But Bing is nowhere near as good as Google Search.

        • +3

Have been using bing for ages, found it much better than Google

        • +1

I only use Bing for search and I always find what I am searching for.
The only time I use Google is for Maps (street view).

        • What about Carmella Bing?

      • +2

searx + firefox + ublock origin + bitwarden is the ideal browser setup

      • +8

Chrome is removing support for adblock extensions in January, which will presumably roll out to other Chromium browsers over time (Brave, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera). Seems like Firefox is the way to go now.

        • +5

Haven’t made a switch on my primary browser since years. Hmm looks like I’m gonna switch over to Firefox when chrome disables Adblock.

  • Anyone have any idea at all how to browse all albums released per year for example or year and music genre? I'm seriously bored of listening to an artist and getting all one the same artists in circles recommended, nothing new, different. Thanks. All these music services have such poor browsing/filtering options, just want you to listen to this new woke crap.

  • +4

This is only for new users not returning?

    • +2

Yes so exactly the same as normal Spotify deal
It's only for users who have not tried premium.

  • +2

If you want something new & (support) appreciate no commercials + finding new artists + a song history:

    somafm.com

My fav is Lush, but they have many genre's. A really good guy, Rusty Hodges, runs it and well worth shooting a few $ his way for great content & no commercials.

    FYI

    • +1

PS: you can input the m3u or pls into your music player to bypass the online player. :)

  • Thanks my free google music is about to expire, looks like need to wait 3 days after activation

  • Change deal to this link for less days and clicks

    https://www.spotify.com/au/

  • +3

Can i listen to it on my Zune?

    • Good luck

    • Can I listen to it on my iPod? lol

  • -5

Yuck. Bing. I'm not sure that's worth it.

  • -4

Damn. I was banned from Bing rewards ages ago for using a VPN back when it wasn't available in Australia. Bing sucks BTW.

  • Is this for new users as a trial or can this be added onto an existing subscription?

    • Answered already above

  • i bing things every day so don't why they make do three more days of searches

    • no one uses bing after these 3 days will be back to normal

  • -1

Looked at the excessive app permissions so will never bother signing up even if it was always free from ads.For something that only plays music, I wish it would only have just Internet access and nothing else. No run on startup as I don't need it that badly that i needs to always be running. Etc, etc.
