me too! Thanks for this post
If you've got a VW keep in mind this is only 502/505. My VW specifies 504/507 which is not on special (Castrol Edge 5W-30 LL).
Older petrol VWs generally take both. We used this in our 2015 Jetta once, it's OK, better than valvoline (higher engine temps observed) for this engine.
I did note 504/507 is better for engine longevity, though this 502/505 spec is quite good still.
502/505 is generally perfectly fine for older petrol VAGs (VW, Audi, Skoda).
504/507 did replace 502/505. 504/507 has a longer service interval, i.e. up to 30k overseas, where 502/505 is 15k. Moot point as the recommended service interval in Australia is 15k.
I use to use 504/507 in my Golf GTI but found no difference with 502/505, noting that 504/507 wasn't around when my car was manufactured.
I service it myself every 7.5k anyway.
If you need 504/507 and want to play it safe sparesbox has 20% off on ebay bringing the suitable Nulon Euro down to $53

LL never seems to go on sale :(
It always used to go on sale for around $50-60 and I would buy a few bottles. Last few years I havnt seen it go on sale at all.
I bought one from SuperCheap last year on sale. I think it briefly went down to around $50 or so.
My VW specifies 504/507 which is not on special (Castrol Edge 5W-30 LL).
Is that for Diesel engines?
Castrol EDGE Diesel DPF Engine Oil - 5W-30, LL 5 Litre $94.99
Details from SCA: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/castrol-castrol-edge-die…
ALL 504/507 approved oils are suitable for Diesel engines.
They may not have Diesel in the name, but all 504/507 approved oils can be used in diesel engines due to low SAPS and are also long life (up to 30,000km).
502/505 oils aren't suitable for diesel engines, but if your VW is petrol and specifies 504/507, chances are you can use 502/505 as long as you change it every 15,000km.

For anyone wanting to know it it suits their car
Thanks. Bookmarked this.
purchased last Dec/2021 cost $32 from repco, still have a half bottle, can i mix the new oil together for my territory?
should do - i think unused oil has a much better life span than something sitting in an engine. oil does still have a "life span" and degrades over time. it's all the additives that breakdown and such (from what i've read)
Barely 1 year old, that's fine to mix with new
No good for cars with a DPF
Any further discounts for rac members?
No, it's excluded from the SYCS discount
I think its better than nothing.. You dont want your $0.50? You can PayID me the savings if you'd like.
You Sir/Madam - are a true ozbargainer, I take my hat off to you.
Get that 50c!
You save 50c here, you save 50c somewhere else. Then you go to the dollar store then you buy something else!
Thank you Russell.
Good deal OP!
BTW who remembers the good ol’ $2 Castrol 5w30 5L Supercheap Auto deal haha
Oh yeah and then got refunded the $2 as well.
Is the new cheap price for this oil? I remember back then 30 bucks deal quite often
For those on a budget, you can consider this, also Fully Synthetic and 5w30 from Castrol.
try to price beat Autobarn, as their policy guarantee the lowest price. and accept beat others.
Supercheap happily matched this price also.
Can confirm
Go one today in store :)
What the?, I tried adding to cart and the price shown as $61.50 even though the website still show $39. Something's not right going on.
Yep, can confirm the same.
Just open a web chat with SCA and get them to match it, or go to a Repco or SCA store
Thanks mate, they fixed it up now, just check again. So all good if you want to order from Repco before it finishes tonight.
Love an oil deal.
