  • 5 - 40 is quite a wide viscosity range

    • It's not for every car. Just get whatever your manual specifies.

      • Yeah, I know.
Still, I think 5/40 is quiet a wide viscosity range for an oil. It shows how synthetics are much more advanced compared to mineral oils.
15/40 was quite common when mineral oils were the norm.

Automotive superstore has some ryco filters on discount (from 34 to 21). And brake pads 30% off. I'm running at 4 mil at the moment so need to nab em.

People complain about em, but they sent a coolant pressure bottle from NSW to Vic in 3 days just before Xmas.

Anyway, seems a good period to get parts and schedule some maintenance around June.

      Happy tinkering!

Don't forget Supercheap Auto will price beat if you contact them..

    • +1

Yep, and Supercheap often don't discount this oil as much when they have Penrite specials so good to get on price beat.

    • +2

They don’t carry the 6L bottle size so they may not.

      • That must be recent because I got them to price beat a 6L about four months ago.
I usually get the 10L at supercheap when they go on special for $89 at autobarn.

        • Is there a reason to go to SCA over Autobarn? Better loyalty program or is it a brand thing?

      • Checked with SCA, no 6L stocked

  • Can someone please tell me if it will work with my Honda FIT 2014 Hybrid? Or do I need to buy something else.

Check your owner's manual for oil specs

    • Generally no, since hybrid engines typically use 0W-20. As above, check your manual for the oil specs.

I managed to get 10l of 15w-50 for around 65 bucks the other week, cheapest it's been for awhile. You're better off buying a couple at that price.
Been using it in my Hilux for around 20 years.
