It’s going to be hard to choose, a cheap 6 or a RRP 7 pre-order. I just want a great phone camera.

    • same boat

    • Either way you will be getting one of the best all around camera set-ups on a phone. Most rumours are pointing to Google keeping the same physical camera hardware from the 6 going into the 7 at the very least. The Pro models may be getting a spec bump though.

Mine has been super solid on Android 13

  • btw it was 700 not long ago

Bought when it was at $704, took 4 weeks for delivery (Due to no stock) but Amazon gave me a $30 voucher for waiting.

  • How does the camera compare to iPhone?

    • +2

Very well. This has been a particular strength of the Pixel range for quite a while.

Most reviews seem to indicate that the Pixel takes better still photos, especially in low light, but the iPhone maintains a slight lead in terms of video quality/stability.

      • I am quite impressed by iphone photos and considering buying iPhone 13.but the price tag is just too high

  • I've found the phone solid apart from the fingerprint reader that totally sucks big time.
It's normally poor and slow (compared to iPhone6) but in bright sun it gets even worse.
I paid $900. Perhaps at this price I would have been happier?

I have to say after testing a mates 6pro next to a 6a the difference is huge and noticeable even after a few software fixes.
You're right compared to even older phones it's disappointing, but then again at least the 6a shows they addressed a huge bug for owners. Then again, face unlock would have been something, who knows why they still havent released it.

      • We have yet to see if the problem if fixed or just addressed. IDK I any other phone uses this rear lit screen print reader and gets it right?
If it weren't for this and the dreadful messaging app. I'd be a fan boy.

        • Dreadful messaging app? What are you using?

    • Gotta agree with you, I got a pixel 6 recently and the fingerprint reader is the worst part of this otherwise great phone. In bright sunlight Ive started to not even attempt the fingerprint and go straight to the passcode… Paid only 600 for it though so can't complain too much I guess.

Edit: I should also mention Bluetooth is sometimes a bit flakey, my Bose headphones sometimes disconnect from it out of nowhere. Never happened with my old Pixel 5.

  • Worth pulling the trigger on the 6s or wait until 7 is out and 6s get reduced in price?

  • Any hardware difference between a UK model or an AU model?

  • These are down to ~$715 now.
