  • So OZB, what's the catch here?

    • Good question!

    • +2

      Card slot: No

    • +7

Its Kogan, and a grey importer?

      • +2

yep, those two combined make it a very very hard sell.

    • +2

IPS screen, no OIS on the cameras - if those matter to you

    • +1

Cons: 200g, 8.9mm, LCD, Mediatek, no OIS, Xiaomi bloatware OS. I'd rather get an Edge 30 for 10% more (JB on sale).

      • What's wrong with Mediatek? Dimensity 8100 supposedly one of the best processors available and arguably the best Android processor when considering both performance and efficiency.

        • +1

Mediatek pretty much prevents custom ROM development (by not having open source drivers). I dislike that lack of freedom.

    • I dont think it support volte so please be cautious when buying it as big telco gonna shut down 3g soon

    • It's got to be nits.

  • +4

How'd they manage to put an e-manual in the box?

    • is a pill ;)

      • Rectal suppository?

    • QR code

    • +2

By leaving out the card slot they made extra room to ship a few more items in the box like e manuals and kogans awesome customer service.

  • is custom rom support still horrid with mtk chips?

  • +1

Personally would not sacrifice the 4 year OS updates and 5 year security updates Samsung promises. Googles updates schedule are great too.

For Chinese phones in this price range Poco F4 is well reviewed. It is usually about the same price as this Poco X4 GT, but has the advantage of a snapdragon processor. It's cheaper on sale today at $474.37 including GST and using available coupons for the green colour from a seller on Aliexpress. However, I agree with Abstractium, there are better ways to go imho unless you are comfortable installing ROMs.

    NO

  • Fwiw would not go near another Xiaomi product. My wife and I had a3s. Both of them had fingerprint sensor issues. I had ongoing problems with Bluetooth on mine. We upgraded her to a POCO. Within a week of receiving it, it was doing random resets on a daily basis. Did factory resets etc. Couldn't shake the issue. Ended up getting a refund under warranty. Also problems with Xiaomi Dashcam (qr) and Fitness Band (strap). Just never again with this brand.

    • My experience has been great. Probably have bought 5 phones from them and all excellent. Currently have the redmi note 10 pro which is great.

Rest of my family uses Apple and we have had several issues with iphones (camera had to be replaced on one, wifi stopped working on another), ipad (kept rebooting making it unuseable) and laptops (screen had to be replaced in M1 macbook air, screen died in older macbook air). Some fixed under warranty, but not all. They refused to touch the ipad due to a small crack in the screen when the problem was clearly not related to that in any way.

Point is any brand can have issues, even the premium ones.

    • sounds like what happened to me with my Samsung s8 and s9. switched to Xiaomi 9T and has been the best phone I have ever owned (and cheaper).

  • Just here for the obligatory "Mediatek, no deal" comment. The modern day version of the much missed "no B28".
