  • I would have bought, but my next 12-month scheduled service is in May 2023.

  • +3

    How reputable are they?
Are they giving $100 off but going to sting with "additional fixes"?

    • +9

No additional fixes when I used them last but they forgot to plug the AFM sensor back in and the mrs' car was in limp mode with a check engine light on when she bought it home… So I wouldn't use them again

    • +1

I've been using my local (Southport QLD) mycar for almost 4 years. Always so easy.

    • +2

I stopped using them after they started spamming me with marketing text messages .. I don't use any businesses that use text spam for marketing ..

    • I've used them once for tyres and a log book service - I found them great. When I questioned whether they completed a certain thing on the log book, they said they weren't aware of it on their system- so I showed them the car manufacturer website where it stated something had to be done.. They ordered the part in fit it for me next time. No problems and no voiding warranty. Ended up being $300 cheaper than going to my car manufacturer.

    • depends on location, franchise. to me, they match hyundai's service and got a discount on tyre change as well. but they didnt clean my car as Hyundai did so wasnt impressed.

Hyundai offers complimentary assistance for 12 months too, and sometimes they clean up the car so not worth imo.

      • That's what I read on some of the reviews as well.
It's a lucky dip and we won't know until they touch our cars.

Most probably cheaper than dealer service, but probably on par with independent mechanics

      • @kehuehue MyCar also gives twelve months roadside with logbook servicing

  • Wow got a quote of over $1400 for a 6yr old car with only around 28,000kms.

    • In my previous experience, when I tweaked with the KMs, the price went down. The estimator they use on the website feels to me a bit random, but I guess they assume major fixes at certain odometer milestones. The way I figure is that the mechanic would just do whatever they need to do anyway regardless.

    • +2

That's the way logbook services work unfortunately. My old Daihatsu Terios came with quite a comprehensive service book that lists all the items required for each service. And the rule 'km or time, whichever comes first'.

For a car with so few km as yours the time will be the determinant. A 6 year service will be geared to 120,000km distance. Might include brake disks, timing belt, fan belt, transmission oil. All things your car won't actually need after only 28,000km.

Your choice now: pay only for things you need, which would quite likely only be a comprehensive inspection with brake fluid test, and an oil change, worth ~$200, or pay for the stamp in the logbook to possibly improve resale value, getting lots of unnecessary things done.

For my old car I get offered the 390,000km service at 234 months, for $144 after the $100 discount. Also on offer the 380,000km service at 228 months for $258 and a 400,000 km (240 months) service for $730. Unfortunately the website doesn't list what is included. Can I be bothered to check the service manual? Or just do another oil change myself and be done with it…

  • Good timing, was needing a service.

  • +1

I’ve used them the last few years. They’re the old Kmart tyre and auto rebranded. Ive had no issues - most services around $350 from memory (no coupons used).

    • +1

Do you know if they actually do an oil change as part of the log book service? its not listed as one of the services provided (oil change).

      • +2

I want to know this as well.
Usually logbook services include oil filter and oil change.. but it's good to have it confirmed

      • +1

Got mine done last week, missed out on this deal (grr) but yes they do both oil change and filter change for log book services. Don't have the receipt on me at the moment but the oil change was listed as $98 or there abouts.

Best part about them is they'll call and tell you what needs to be done, prior to doing them, and you can opt in and out of things you don't want to pay for.

      • Just checked a service I got done in 2020 and they did an oil change and filter change. The service was $198. Don’t seem to have a more recent one emailed to me.

  • Im assuming it doesnt matter on the age of the car…?

    • Yikes, just put my car in for a quote - Ford Focus with 105000 (2013), $550 for a service.

      • +1

        $1900 for my 2000 Subaru 😂

        • +3

At least they give you a price :p
I just get a "no" hahahaha

        • +1

Cheaper to buy a new one lol

  • +1

Is this good? Or depends on which branch /franchisee?

    • +1

Mine was great for tyres but bad experience for servicing. Paid for log book servicing for a deal last year. They didn't change my engine oil.

      • +1

Is that a mistake or standard practice?
I don't see oil change listed as part of the service though…. which is really weird

  • +1

hmm the deal period is a bit narrow, between now and next saturday

  • I booked online using the promo link above. Website advertising shows a $100 discount. The order booking page shows a $100 discount. Though I was charged the full amount without the discount.

    • That's odd. I went through the booking process and it charged my credit card the discounted amount.

"We have hit a bump in the road!
Unfortunately it looks like we can’t book your SUBARU OUTBACK logbook service online.

We would still love the opportunity to service your car, call our Clyde store on 03 8585 7172 and we’ll book you in.

Unfortunately the $100 off logbook promotion won’t be applicable for non-online bookings"
    Oh well 😂

    • +1

We got the same message for our Toyota. It fits the T&C, but also got rejected. Perhaps this is a "deal" that is unobtainable?

    • +1

Got the same for my 2017 Honda Civic.

    • +4

      Same. 🤣

Update: Don't enter the last service date and it will work. Not sure why MyCar do this trick

      • That worked!

    • +1

      same - Mazda 2.

Odd that they serviced the exact car last year.

    • I got the same message. Not sure what caused it. I just wanted to get an idea of what they charge for a service.

    • That message seems to depend on the MyCar location you picked. If you have more than 1 nearby, try a different location.

      • +1

Thanks for that. The only benefit of mycar for
me is the location so if I have to go somewhere else I’ll just go to my local mechanic.

  • +2

450 for an oil change. Yea nah

  • +1

last time i checked came in higher than dealership.

  • Checked for price for a small hatchback.. $100 off and still $416… As a typical ozbargainer I have locked a local mechanic who is trusted and charges me the least.. last time i had paid $197….

  • Hahahahaja. $820 for my 2002 corolla. That had better include brand new tyres too.

  • Based on some of the prices people have been quoted, wouldn’t surprise me if my car would suddenly be in need of a new Johnson rod.

  • +1

I can't even select a date to book. Not even next year. So stupid.

  • I've tried booking at two of my nearest stores and it doesn't show any available dates

  • Anyone know how much it is to do a pink slip as part of this? I do a service + pink slip once a year.
Sorry, answering my own question: it's an option on the 3rd screen, and it's $43 - but the problem is finding a store that actually has an inspector - I'm getting "Our roadworthy inspector isn't available at XYZ store".
I've tried 3 stores now in Sydney's inner west, same thing at all 3 stores, no inspectors. sigh

    • Answering my own comment: So I bought only the log book service online (for $132 after discount), and just asked them to do the pink slip when I dropped off the car. Which they were happy to do. Then when I collected the car in the afternoon I just paid for the pink slip ($43) + change of auto transmission fluid ($165 for 4 litres of fluid + labour) = $207.

  • $156 after discount for a 2015 Hyundai ix35. Unfortunately my nearest is 100km away.

  • I really had horrible experience with MyCar service. It was a regular service for my 2010 Kluger, and the tail light bulb needed to be replaced. They butchered the replacement… They broke the whole tail light, didn't put all the part back properly. Fortunately i was there when the dude broke it otherwise i doubt they would replace the tail light for me. Even with the replace, the tail light wasn't fit tightly in.

Not really a big fan of this place anymore.

My car was returned with a snapped wheel nut. I was told that they are going to order in a new stud and wheel nut to replace the one they snapped, by the guy who served me at the counter. When I called a few weeks later to follow up, another guy pulled up my notes and said "Nope, we only wrote down that it was snapped, not that we are going to replace it"

While I don't 100% know it wasn't snapped before taking it in, it seemed pretty likely they were the ones who did it. Quiet unsafe to be driving around with your wheel not secure 100%
Ended up having to replace it myself, noticed pretty much all the other wheel studs were chewed up on that same wheel. Guessing they let the trainee remove the wheels that day.
    /rant

  • Do they use genuine parts ?

  • The price being quoted is ridiculous. Quote for a Mazda6 for an 80,000km service was $780.

  • aren't these guys suppose to be cheaper than your dealership?

    • Why don't you show us your pride and joy electric bike mummy bought for you

      • -1

        lol you mad?

        • +1

          Not at a 12yo kid

  • 170 bucks when my local would’ve charged at least 250
    Thanks mate

  • $205 quote for an oil "top up". Is that even an oil change?!
"Like you, cars get dehydrated". I sure hope they are not putting water into the oil sump.

  • $400 at KIA, $240 at mycar, it’s a no brainer.

    • +1

      $150 at an independent mechanic?

  • +2

I see lots of comments getting high service quote and wanted to clear some confusion. My car has 218k km and checked the price for both 210k service and 225k service. The 210k service was $197 after discount and the 225k service was $775. I believe the price depends on what needs to be done. For instance according to my logbook service schedule my 210k service is only oil and filter replacement where the 225k service include brake fluid, radiator flush, diff oil change

  • My Kia's service is due anyway and this came up at $370 including discount, it was $470 at Kia so pretty happy with a $100 discount

  • Mycar quote 500+ already less by 100 for Nissan xtrail.
Nissan service center around 350 cap servicing

  • +1

Isuzu DMax 3 year service - capped price quote at Isuzu was $500. Mycar with discount $236.

Isuzu is on the other side of the city, 2 x 40min round trips (worse in peak)

Local MyCar is walking distance, 4.6 stars with 100+ reviews on Google

No brainer, booked in, thanks OP!

  • I have my car serviced at mycar today, was told that the oil filter cap crack so have to leave the car there till tomorrow. Not sure if i will be charged to replacement or not but I had it serviced 4 months ago at another mycar ( I did not come back that store this time because I noticed that the tyres weren't rotated even it was a major service) I think the mechanic at that store over tightened the filter

    • How old is the car? Lids don't crack for no reason. Sounds like the high school drop out got to learn the ropes on your car

      • It’s camry hybrid 2015. Either of mycar shops should be blamed

  • Has anyone been able to get a quote and book online lately? Was given a quote a few days ago using the system but this morning I keep getting the 'We hit a bump in the road' message, despite trying multiple locations and three different car models.
