    Great Space Save

bro its a google mini its already super small does it really take up that much space ?

    • +2

Yes save some space for your desk/floor, I personally prefer to leave it on the wall than on the floor.

    • Yes it's small but it still takes up space.

  • Or you can just use blu tack.

But seriously, get some decent double-sided tape.
You could roll the dice with the fake "3M" on ebay/amazon etc, or just go to Bunnings.

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/scotch-mount-extreme-double-side…

      • I'm not sure if it's just mine, but I swear my mini's back are made with some doubleside tape repellent material.

        • +2

Yes I just tried it one with 3M command strips and they didn’t stick on the back of the mini AT ALL! The material it’s made of makes it impossible to stick on

          • @djz: Mmm, just used 3M command strips to mount my kitchen nest hub mini a couple of days ago….still there…..

            • @Limbot: nest hub mini is the newer model, and has a notch so can easily hang on a hook.

              • @bargaino: Yes but didn't want to drill a hole and put a screw in hence the 3M command tape :)

Ahh, now I see, this is only the Google Mini…..DUH!

        • doubleside tape repellent material.

Oh yes! That weird orange plastic. I had to remove a strip down the middle and replace it with the double-sided tape.
Still quicker and neater than getting a plastic bracket.

Don't do it, terrible mount for AU/NZ plugs and the magnet isn't very strong.

    • Can confirm. I have one hanging on the wall and it slides down regularly.

      • Yep. Useless. A pain in the rear to hide the cable in there and it barely holds. At first, the magnet was quite strong, but as the plastic/rubber/whatever gives a lil, it just slides on down and off eventually (and yes, using the original Google Home Mini).

    Look at the last photo….

    Also it's been cheaper

Been wondering what to use the powerpoint in my shower for.

    • can you imagine these dropshippers could literally photoshop it into ANYTHING and they freaking photoshop it into a photo of a shower LMFAO

      • I don't see the problem, am I missing something here?

        • yeah it's a USA plug not AU plug in the photo.

  • The reviews really trash this design. There are others that are better I believe.

  • this is for Google "Home Mini", not for Google "Nest Mini", I believe. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

    • Can confirm, it's designed for original mini.
You can still force the nest mini in it, but the magnetic is weaker. Recommend pair with a angled outlet splitter if you want to use it with nest mini.

much better design and holder, sits stronger and closer to the wall.

I love how sleek and compact it looks 🙃

  • Only good for Google home mini not the nest. I've been using one for a few years now and it's fine for that.

  • Not good sags at PowerPoint.

  • FWIW If you have access to a 3d printer, this works a treat: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2746443

Excess cable can be wrapped around it.

    • Seeing this stuff makes me want to buy a 3d printer but then I think buying the 5 or so small things I'd probably want to print would be way cheaper than starting a new hobby.
