Android 12 tablets have finally made it to OEMs and on August 22 from 5pm AEST Chuwi have their latest Android tablet on sale with some pretty good features. One of the big new additions is that they've ditched the UNISOC CPU found in most other Chinese tablets and opted for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 CPU. Furthermore they're advertising Widevine L1 DRM for Amazon/Netflix HD which should be likely given it's a Qualcomm CPU.

Features include Android 12, 10.36" IPS 2000x1200 display with 400nits brightness, Quialcomm Snapdragon 680 CPU, Adreno 610 CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB UFS Storage (MicroSD up to 512GB), Quad Speakers, Dual Mic, Dual 4G LTE, 7000mAh battery with USB-C, WiFi ac, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, 5MP Front Camera, 8MP Rear Camera and FM radio.

Obviously being a new release tablet there's no reviews yet, however in my experience Chuwi tablets these days are good quality and certainly a lot better than Teclast. Plus their stock Android ROM are always more optimised for the hardware. There will be an optional keyboard bundle available on the listing when the sale starts.

Edit: Review here (in Japanese). At the 6:18 mark Widevine is shown as being L1 with Amazon and Netflix in HD 1080p. ETA Prime (English) has a review up too.

  • Had a Chuwi Hi10 Pro few years ago and was really good quality for the price.

  • Excellent specs for the price indeed.

Though keep in mind Netflix still has to manually whitelist devices to allow them to watch in HD, so unfortunately having Widevine L1 support is not enough. Anyone know if past Chuwi devices have been whitelisted?

The original Snapdragon 662 Chuwi HiPad Pro had Widevine L1 DRM with working Netflix HD. The updated HiPad Pro with the G95 had Widevine L1 as well but I'm not sure if Netflix worked or not.

Excellent deal, the specs are pretty similar to Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 2022 but Chuwi has a bigger RAM (8GB).

Dammit, just caved and got the P11 Plus deal a week or two ago!

    • +1

I wouldn't stress. The P11 Plus will have a better CPU.

  • +1

So in terms of quality, Chuwi or Lenovo Xiaoxin?
    How about software?

  • This doesn’t appear to have a 3.5mm jack right?

    • Doesn't look like it.

A pre-release review video is out here in Japanese and at the 6:18 mark it shows Widevine being L1. Amazon Prime and Netflix report HD 1080p !!! So I think this is really excellent value.

Turn on subtitles and auto-translate to English if you don't speak Japanese. It's pretty accurate.

  • For xbox cloud gaming, I assume I'd want a more powerful CPU

  • Deal is live and I've added an extra code to knock it back further.

    • It is indeed..however, no keyboard!

  • also, coupon HPADMAX5 is not working…second one works…Just wondering if I should be waiting for the keyboard bundle deal.

    • What if you click "Get coupons" under price. Should be a $5 discount.

    • Yeah, mine automatically applies a $13.27 discount but then can't use HPADMAX5, just 15MegaS180 for a total discount of $35.38 which brings my total down to $287.58

  • Yep, CWAUG03 worked..showing AU $282.72..do you know if the keyboard bundle will be available in next few days?

    • +1

No idea. They probably have similar on their store. You can message the store through AliExpress

      • Thanks..reached out to them..however, do not make any sense… the agent replied "Hi, I am sorry there is no case for this model, my superiors are assessing the feasibility."

  • Wondering if a keyboard bundle will be added?

  • +1

    Bought it without the keyboard.

    • me too!

  • Checked the Chuwi website and they don't seem to have a keyboard available yet for the Max.

I use RemotePC to access Win 10 work stations in my office from remote Mac or Windows machines.

Can I use the HiPad Max to remotely access the office machines? Software suggestions?

    Just got this from Chuwi:
Hi, there is no keyboard and pen for this model, my superiors are assessing the feasibility.

My wife just bought a 12.9 inch IPad pro with keyboard and pen for just under $2400 AU. So i reckon $290 or so for the HiPad Mad seems like a bargain. I just bought a Dell XPS 17 and I was looking for a small low cost device to carry around.

  • Any suggestions for a suitable protective case? Would a ChuWI HiPad Air case work?

  • Sounds like a feminine sanitary product, except for the chewy part.

HiPad and Ipad do sound very similar…
