    • +18

      • +2

        You’ll get there too early

        • +6

I'll stop at McLaren Vale on the way…

      • Bau did it to get to work. Anyone can do it for bottomless bears
        Walking 90 Kms to work

        • +2

          for bottomless bears

          😮

      • You still have to take the ferry

    • +9

Stack with this to get home to Melbourne for $1 more than the price of your lunch! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/718975

    • "This route includes a ferry."

  • +2

    They've one up'd Hooters

The District looks like a poker club separate to the casino? Anyone been there?

    • +5

It's a micro brewery and live music pub by Pirate Life inside the Adelaide casino. It's a lively place and the burgers was quite good. Would recommend

    • +2

yeah its the only part of the casino Ive gone to recently. You can take the escalator and pretty much bypass the pokies. Great for a small live music venue

  • +16

I feel like I couldn't eat more than $49 worth of burgers and beers in two hours.

    • That's like one burger and 2.5 pints

      • +3

Is that $20 burger and $12 pints?

  • +3

These guys do a progressive happy hour; $4 @ 4pm, $5 @ 5pm, $6 @ 6pm so you'd get better value if you did it either before or after this.

    • What nights?

I noticed more pubs doing happy hours now.

I need to work out good venues for happy hours, beats paying $12 a beer!

      • +2

They do it 7 days a week across The District, The Guardsman, Westward and the Chandelier Bar (which I have never managed to stumble across).
The District has the best beers tho

    • damn, why is SA so cheap? Sydney CBD happy hour prices are like $7

      • +4

It's a Casino so I assume it's a bit of a loss leader to get people through the door to part with their hard earned savings through rigged games

  • +2

Pirates Life still has the best IPA ive ever had, but it was a show only beer at GABS.

    10% as well.

    Jealous of you SA folks.

  • +2

pretty sure i can fit in 4 burgers and 6 pints in 2 hours to get my moneys worth

  • Where does it actually say 2hr max? I can't find it on the linked page.
Genuinely curious, cos I will probably take my brother for it.

    • in the text on the picture

      • +2

Clearly having a blind moment lol cheers mate

  • +6

If there is no bottom on the burger, won't the patty fall out?

    • +3

Could be like a Big Mac so only lose the bottom half?

I did this with 4 mates last Friday - was excellent value, highly recommended. Feel free to AMA and I'll try to help. Basically:
    - it's only schooners (SA schooner = 285ml).
    - Server comes around, you order anything off tap, wait till almost empty, order again. Repeat…
    - Can order any of the sliders - they come in serves of 4. I think you can order 2 x pieces per person each order.
    - They were generous with getting these out and we had plenty to fill us up
    - 2 hours of power - end result was as expected!

      • That's a really impressive range for an all-you-can-drink arrangement. I know Pirate Life have been bought out but last time I tried them, beers like Mosaic IPA were still world class. And you even get some sliders thrown in too, to soak up all the booze!

    • Im intrigue. I wonder how many burgers and beers can you guys(per person) eat in 2 hours?

      • +5

About 10 schooners I think. Tried all of the full strength, non-fruit beers plus a couple twice.
They are "sliders" so mini-burgers & sandwiches. I'd say about 10 of these as well - tried all of the different choices except vegan & eggplant.

        • Ten 285mL (just shy of seven 425mL schooners) in two hours is a good pace, at least for me these days.

I always worked on the principle of three 425mL an hour was good going if you were really going to get stuck in.

        • A schooey (even if they are the smaller SA variant) every 12 minutes - whilst consuming carb heavy sliders (10 no less) - is mightily impressive! Solid effort mate!

          • +1

@Ham Dragon: Thanks mate. Could have been one or 2 more. Service definitely slowed a bit as it got busier but never too much waiting time - we started at 5.30. Still a decent session!

      • I would only have 1 burger or 4 sliders and the rest beers as the IPAs and XPAs are pretty filling.

SA Schooners are middies/pots ie 10oz… so one every 15min would be pretty easy; so 8 beers at least. (10, 12 or 16 I suppose for drinkers).

    • did you get a hangover the next day?

  • +3

Its rare to see so many votes for a SA deal

  • +1

Waygu and lobster and 12 beers to wash it down, 2 hours only.

    Challenge accepted!

  • +3

they need to bring this to Sydney CBD immediately!!

  • +1

Damn you SA folks… Have an upvote

  • Maaate someone bring this to syd please :)

  • This is too OP, why not Darwin

    • +3

Bottomless grog in any capacity in the NT would cause all hell to break loose. I should know, I am from Darwin too.

      • Are you a real Judge or what are you basing this on?

        • I take it you're not originally from the Territory in that case, or have spent much time on Mitchell Street of a Saturday evening…

          • @Ham Dragon: Born and bred. I take it you haven't been here in a while, Judge.

            • @Budju: Haha, as am I but you're right, it's been a few years since I lived there. Last time I was out on Mitchell Street I saw a dude, military admittedly, standing on a car bonnet pissing on the windshield, outside Shennanigans. MPs happened to be rolling past as he was in the act. Two quite large men in olive drab casually stepped out, yanked him off the car by his collar & literally tossed the guy head first into the back of the Landcruiser and proceeded slowly towards Larrakeyah. Definitely on the milder end of things, or what you (used to) see at the HST back in the day, but still funny AF.

              • @Ham Dragon: You hit the nail on the head when you said a bunch of southern blow-ins are the source of most bad behaviour seen in the city. Anyway, it's anti-binge drinking laws that would prevent this deal being allowed in the NT. There are unfortunately problems in this vast territory that run much deeper than just Mitchell Street.

  • If I’m going to Adelaide I want a pie floater

  • wow, that is cheap?

  • -1

Thought that this ‘pigs around a trough’ type of deal was illegal? SA must have different laws and social values perhaps…

  • Well, looks like I'm heading into town this Friday. Good times.

So how was it @anyone that went?
