      • +15

        • +2

          Lett ucce wipe now

But sadly it'll be at aldi which means NO PRODUCT LIMIT, hence expect the store to Out of Stock of lettuces dudes

            • @mckayver: To be fairer to you (from your point of view) I'd also say that even ALDI is increasing prices significantly. like the frozen butter chicken now $2.99, frozen ice cream cones now $3.79. and the list really continues going on.

I personally don't have enough space where I live that I could stock pile. If I had space I probably would have.

            • +2

              @mckayver: I can imagine your browser history…

            • +1

@mckayver: I bought a box of 48 boxes from officeworks. I have hay fever and haven’t seen tissues at Woolworths in over 3 months. The ones from office works are the same Kleenex ones you seen in offices so not the worst.

    • +2

      It's cheaper before using tissues?

    • +2

So it's cheaper, and then tissues? Why are we using tissues after it becomes cheaper?

      • +1

You obviously haven't visited lettucehubgrub before

Time to move my crypto into lettuce before gov starts taking CGT on lettuce

      Capital Greens Tax?

      • The greens will send Australia broke.

        • -1

Well the monopoly of conservative media sure likes to repeat that claim while excusing huge wastes from conservative politicians and putting their head in the sand about costly future problems. Meanwhile from what I've seen most of the Greens candidates have actually accomplished things in the real world, unlike offerings such as Abbott and Morrison. Turnbull thought they'd listen to him, then at some point clued into the fact that they were just using him to make themselves look good and in his words ended up suicidal, trying to bring reality into their ideological fantasy land.

          • @CodeExplode: We must have a different definition of monopoly as last I checked Nine/Fairfax had a fairly significant market share of media across tv, radio and newspapers.

            • +1

@frodmann: Peter Costello is the chairman of Nine/Fairfax… Literally run by a long-serving LNP federal treasurer.

          • @CodeExplode: The Greens live in fantasy land. Lol

            • -2

@mckayver: Have you seen the news about how we've been having a lot of those one in 200 year floods, fires and all that? What do you think is causing it? Climate change, or The Rapture?

              • @ankor: Google fires and flooding in Australia and read dates and severity for past 200 years. It's always been like this and will always be like this.

        • +2

          I was talking about green vegetables… greens…

But there’s always one clown talking politics, so…. Greens have never, and will never matter in Australian politics.

    • +2

Sounds about right. Move out of crashed crypto into crashing lettuces.

  • +16

    • +7

Thanks. I might take the kids so they can see what one looks like.

That sounds like a great idea. A really wholesome family outing. You inspired me to do the same.

Are we allowed to take photos instore?

Technically they discourage it. Although we saw a lot of people taking selfies with the lettuces

      • +1

Just don’t tip the iceberg and they won’t care :)

    • +3

Are we allowed to take photos instore?

  • Maybe I'll start going back to KFC in the hopes they will lettuce now.

    • +1

they wont, if it has reduced costs then theres no point as the public are already used to it,

      • Or KFC would introduce a new line up of products with Lettuce in it (at higher price than current standard one)

    • I'm sure they'll make an announcement

    • i was kinda getting used to the cabbage blend - so long as you don't eat the pieces that fall out on their own, mixed in was fine

  • +3

    The new Bitcoin.

    • +1

Waiting for the Lettuce ETF to be approved (ASX:LTCE) so I can invest in its price without holding the physical asset

      • +2

would bet on betashares to come out with it given how many dumb thematic ETFs they have.

    • Nice. will buy to hodl.

    • which was just the old Tulipmania - growing Tulips, growing lettuce - same same but different decade

  • Inflation is over, rba should start cutting cash rate.

  • Queue people on news fighting over a lettuce

  • Finally under $3

  • +2

    I'll pass…it's just crunchy water

    • delicious nutritious crunchy water

      • Even better with a little salt on a lettuce leaf.

        • That'll be $20 sir

      • Iceberg lettuce is fairly nutrient light compared to darker lettuces

  • My dream of lettuce behind glass with armed guards will have to wait until the coming currency collapse, then…

  • +2

I'm going to stock up my pantry with enough to last a year

    • +1

That works better with cabbage. Dig a hole and bury it

  • +1

    RBA going to like this

    • Refreshing But Affordable?

    • +1

      the new lowe

    • Politicians too… All grubs like lettuce.

  • +4

    It's truely sad that
    A. Its a bargain when lettuce is $3
    And
    B. That there is even a bargain for vegetables

    • They’d likely be small lettuces too (photo looks like that at least). So still equivalent to about $6 for a decent sized iceberg lettuce.

    • All part of a grand plan to see just how much we can be squeezed on every single product possible.

  • +2

    Deal for slugs

  • +1

I just hope KFC keep that cabbage mix it actually bangs

    • "Bangs" as in backfires. :-/

  • I'm going to buy so many mangos and strawberries if they're cheap this year.

    • +2

      Thanks for lettuce know.

    • +2

      I'd wait a few more years…

  • NSW/ACT only? or nationwide?

  • Do they throw the lettuce at you and expect you to catch it still?

    If so, challenge accepted.

    Garbage vegetable

  • +1

What I found truly strange that the bags of shredded lettuce, which I MUCH prefer to even a $3 whole lettuce, has stayed $2 this whole time.

Bag of lettuce is two servings for me, and way more convenient. A whole lettuce is between 2 and 3 servings for me, and a pain in the ass to prepare.

    • Well, yeah… cause the bagged stuff was already 37x times more expensive. ;-D (I'm exaggerating, but point is valid.)

  • +1

(profanity) me - I thought life would only go up from where I was and here I am getting excited about 3$ lettuce and 4.7$ broccoli.
