I am pretty sure this is a price error as the normal price is $899, and the most these have ever been discounted by is $50 since they were only just released a few months back. So, if you want one, buy now, think later.

I paid full price a few weeks ago ($899). I was looking at Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 for $2000 as an alternative but in the last few years the likes of Huion and XP Pen have caught up and in some respects beaten it in terms of quality and price. But even at $899 I don't feel buyers remorse as that's an awful lot of value compared to the similar Cintiq Pro 16.

The appeal of this unit for me was the 16" QHD screeen. It's not too big or small and since my main desktop monitor is QHD I have my main monitor perfectly duplicated.

Also, and this paragraph is more so if you are a desktop user, your PC won't usually include a USB-C port with DP Alt-Mode. This mode allows power, data and graphics along a single USB-C cable. I guess I could have used the included 3 in 2 cable but as I wanted to use a single USB-C cable I purchased a 3m Fasgear fully-featured USB-C cable & Wacom Link Plus for Cintiq Pro 13/16 (ACK42819). I connected the Cintiq Link Plus to my desktop via 2 USB and a DP cable and then ran the 3m cable to the tablet…You don't need all this, I just did it to make my setup look sleek for the ladies.

While you guys are waiting for delivery and working out how to use your tablet and what software you are going to use, here's some tips.

Watch/read some reviews on this particular tablet or the smaller 13" 2.5k QHD 2.5k. My take-away from the reviews was to avoid the felt tips as SOME people say it can mark the screen… It comes with two types, the standard hard-nib being the one most people are happy with.

Also, at least initially, keep that plastic protector sheet on the tablet. It may not look great but many people have the tendency to really put all their weight on the pen to see how hard they need to press to notice the 8000+ sensitivity levels, but the answer is not much, you aren't trying to etch your name into a tree. lol. Within the HUION software you'll be able to see how the sensitivity works and how nuanced it is. This newer tablet doesn't need screen protection unlike prior generations, but I'm still keeping the protective sheet on and it doesn't degrade the drawing experience.

    Awesome deal!

  • +2

Great find. Pity I can't justify getting

  • +1

Is this better to use for drawing then a surface 7

    • +5

OK so the surface is a complete solution because it runs WIndows. This will not run without it being plugged into a laptop/desktop. This is only the graphics tablet.

      • +2

So what your saying is if you have a surface no need for this.

        • +5

What they are saying is they have different purposes. This is designed as a 16" secondary screen for pen input on a desktop or laptop, A surface 7 is far smaller a dedicated pc and tablet.

    • +1

What about the newest Ipad Pro?

      • +2

My friend uses an iPad Pro and for him it works great, but it wouldn't work for me as my programs don't run on an iPad.

      • +7

iPad Pro is terrible for screen mirror drawing. Samsung S8 Ultra is heaps better. I know because I had both.

        • What is "screen mirror drawing" and why is it so bad on the ipad?

  • +2

So can you plug this to an Android phone and basically use it as a 16" touch monitor?

    • +2

I have never done that but I know they show that on the imagery… The graphics tablet doesn't respond to touch with your fingers, you have to use the pen.
I however don't see that working, at least with my S9 as it wouldn't give enough power to power the tablet in the first place.

  • +1

It is good for someone who is still very much an amateur to drawing who up until recently was on a cheap wacom

would it hold up well over the years?

    • +1

It's my first non-Wacom tablet but the first thing I noticed is that it is a lot more like a iPad in terms of how it feels. It's solid yet light. Hasn't got any extra chunkiness that it doesn't need.

I was worried about the screen mainly but it seems the new matte screen protects against scratches etc. I however have kept the plastic on the screen, and although it looks a bit nuts it works 100%.

      • +1

        Got it cheers.

One more question, how does the stock 3 in 2 cable work? do I need to purchase anything extra? (my laptop came with a usb C port with DP support)

edit: ah damn it the deal just went out, guess no fancy tablet for me then

        • One side of the cable plugs into the graphics tablet and then on your PC/laptop side it splits into 2x USB and one HDMI

          • +1

@Heaps for Cheaps: thanks for the answer!

            • @Brrrrt: Oh, and I just read that you had a laptop with DP support. Well, I think you can get away with a single USB-C cable that comes in the box.
Both cables are included, but the single USB-C is def' the first choice.

  • +1

Great find and great description op. I'm too amateur for one of these but maybe one day.

    • +1

Thanks, it is an awesome deal, I hope it gets honored.

  • +1

I've been keen on one of these for ages but haven't been able to justify it, and probably still shouldn't but I've put an order in and hoping all goes ahead 😅

  • +2

Haven't kept up since buying a 4K 24" Cintiq two years ago, but looking at the Huion and XP Pen back then, I concluded the Cintiq was worth the extra. Definitely lot more money for small improvement though.

Never really liked non-screen tablets but absolutely love these things.

  • +1

    Dam!

Was just about to buy one.. Stacked on gift cards from SB and I pressed the buy now button on the amazon listing and noticed I was late :(

Congrats to whoever managed to grab one (assuming they honor it)

    • +1

Option to cancel is no longer available. Will keep posted.

  • +2

    Damn, just missed out!

  • +2

    Missed out too.

    • -3

you didn't miss out, you can find them again cheapy cheap. FOMO

      • It won't be though… You'll be paying more for less, 100%
I mean, in 2026 i'd imagine you possibly could, or if you buy second hand in a year or two… so you are sort of right.

  • +1

Any cheaper (reliable) alternatives for the Cintiq Link Plus?

    Thanks OP great find!

    • +1

It doesn't seem like it. The other option I saw was: SUNIX IT USB 3.1 Dual Port USB-C PCI Express (w/Alternate-Mode) (UPD2018) at around the $80-$100 mark
but I wasn't confident it would do the trick as I couldn't find how much power it could output.

However, the included cables definitely will get you up and working, but if you want that single and long (3m+) USB C cable on a desktop, the cintiq link plus is the cheapest way I have found.

      • +1

Legend, thank you! Very informative post.

Hopefully deal gets honoured anyway, crossing my fingers!

    A "drawing tablet" for $449?

This brings back fond memories of discounted Voss water, 5 or 6 years ago.

  • +1

1 back in stock without the discount.

  • +3

The 13 is $599 with a coupon for 30% off here. Unsure if helps anyone but thought I would share. https://www.amazon.com.au/Graphics-Laminated-Battery-Free-Pr…

  • +1

For those who missed out on this bargain… I notice there is a 30% flash sale on at XP-Pen. I purchased the 16TP Pro a few months back and can vouch for it being awesome - https://www.storexp-pen.com.au/buy/128.html. Even comes with a free stand now (you will want this). Also sale seems to be across many of their products.

  • +1

Card's been charged now - not sure if this is a good sign or a nothing sign?

    • +2

Previous orders for me have sat there and not been charged then cancelled. I would still wait and see. I have ordered as well. No idea if I will use it but I have enjoyed drawing and try to use my touch foldable to draw.

    • +1

Mines due to be delivered tomorrow, hasn't been "shipped" yet but at least we shouldn't have to wait long to find out 🤷‍♂️

  • +2

Mine has been shipped (Estimated arrival next week)

    • Nice. I am thrilled to have found this deal. Do you already have experience with tablets or are you diving in?

      • +2

I may need a life raft or scuba suit.

  • +1

Mine is on the way too! Expected to arrive tomorrow by 8pm

  • +1

Thanks OP - My order has been shipped too, ETA Thursday. Fancy toy! It's time for me to start the free art/drawing courses on Udemy I enrolled years ago, and hopefully I will subscribe to https://www.nma.art afterwards :-)

  • +1

Just received this email from the seller. Order has already been shipped so should receive without issues. Doesn't look like the seller is expecting anyone to cancel as they're requesting positive feedback if you don't cancel. Anyone else receive this?

I can confirm I have just checked and received this.

    • +1

I haven't gotten this yet, but mine also hasn't been marked as shipped 🤷‍♂️

    • +2

I have to say it makes me feel bad. Is it just me?

      • +2

Obviously it's unfortunate but I think they may be exaggerating a little here on the great losses. It didn't look like they had much stock in the first place probably less than 10 or so, unless it had been up for a while before you posted about it. At 50% off it's most definitely a loss to them but with the presumed low initial stock and taking their markup into account it's unlikely to be hitting them too hard. If they could get people to cancel before shipment it'd help them cut their loses but after shipment it's probably not worth their effort and cost to return the items tbh.

I also still haven't gotten this message strangely enough 🤷‍♂️

        • +2

          Got the message.

I felt a bit bad at first but I think you're about the numbers there. It's not like this is a $1 price error, I'd say it'd be around cost price.

It also feels a bit off with sending a "plea", and the message is designed to try and make us feel bad, like we're going to be responsible for the company going under. It's like they're trying to protect some sort of Amazon rating for cancelling orders or something, and circumvent their systems. I've seen Amazon cancel orders before and it seems odd they'd need to shoot this out to get us to cancel on our end. I get the feeling like they'd be able to cancel on their end, but they just don't want to?

          Maybe I'm being cynical though!

          • +2

@snoopydoop: I still haven't got that message at all… But I did receive the product today, all seems perfecto. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the USB C port on my desktop can carry the signal to the screen by itself, guessing it must be an older port on the mobo but the 3in1 cable works fine for now, even though it's so damn short. May need to get that Wacom hub op mentioned but for now it's all good.

            • +1

@dnbly: Does it need a driver downloaded or something?

              • +1

@snoopydoop: Definitely possible, I'll try sus it out but it's no biggie at this time, still fine with the 3in1, just a shame it isn't a bit longer.

                • +2

@dnbly: I have the answer to this one. It's not a driver issue. Most desktops, even your brand new ones, do not have USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode or thunderbolt.
You will most likely have straight-up USB-C.
For comparison, the newer laptops I have been browsing all seem to have it, it's likely called Thunderbolt 3 or 4.

If your motherboard supports this you'll notice it will have a 'Display Port IN' on the rear I/O panel. You create a loopback from your GPU into this port, which then combines that into a single USB-C output with power, data and display. I believe if you have a 2000 series NVidia GPU you might also be ok as it includes the VR port on the GPU.
Here's how your rear i/o panel would look with the DP In.
                  https://dlcdnwebimgs.asus.com/gain/3be84b67-bc1a-4498-81ff-7…

I don't have a compatible motherboard to do this so had to do the Wacom Link solution which sits behind the case but gives me a single 3.5m long single USB-C cable to the tablet.

                  • +1

@Heaps for Cheaps: I think my laptop might have a compatible USB C/dp port but it seems as though my desktop doesn't unfortunately.

It's a bugger they didn't continue the vr ports on the 3000 series 😅 (or at least not mine, 3xDP 1xHDMI).

I'll try keep an eye on the Wacom link for when/if a sale pops up I guess, or just deal with the short cable and have to use the huion on that side of my desk.

                    • @dnbly: "It's a bugger they didn't continue the vr ports on the 3000 series 😅 (or at least not mine, 3xDP 1xHDMI)."
For sure, I was really surprised they ditched the Virtual Link (USB-C) port on the entire 3000 series. They killed it off forever.
