What is the need for the battery? Does it vibrate or something?

I have the Schick 5, 1 cartridge lasts me about 6 months, I clean the blades and feel like new and last forever.

Thanks for this, it was cheaper than buying new blades by themselves. Another razor to chuck on the pile I guess.
