Such great motors, this is the future of transportation.

  • +3

Run this on my Aldi special, hydraulic brakes a must, its a beast :)

    • How fast can you go.

      • +2

I have 26" wheels with my BBS02 and top 60kph on the flat. Have topped 80kph going downhill.

  • Is it allowed to use in NSW as it is a 750w motor?

    https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/bicycle-…

    • +1

      Legally no.

    • +5

Technically not allowed. But is Mr Perrottet really the boss of you? Didn't think so. BAFANG also supply an exterior 250W OEM sticker to placate nosey law enforcement types

      • Tell that to the judge.

        • +1

The nearest police station to me is about 30km away. I'll roll the dice on this one

      • -3

Glad the sticker will help when you have a head on collision at 60kmh on a bike path with some idiot.

      • +4

Love the sticker, Bafang know what's up

    • In the smh.Com.Au the other day there was pics of cops crash tackling an ebike rider in the cbd as his bike was over the power limit. Not even joking

      • -1

That's the difference between city and country cops

        • -2

Yah doing their job to stop idiots doing dangerous things.

          • +5

@oznik: Stay inside and lock your doors, idiots everywhere.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Or police things so we don't turn into a third world shithole

              • -2

@oznik: Some laws are outdated, ill-conceived, and need ignoring. Like NSW eBike laws. You do you, we'll do us.

                • -1

@[Deactivated]: Yes you are the smartest person in the room, perhaps explain how someone doing 60+ kmh on a bike path who has a head on with another cyclist isn't a problem?

                  • +1

@oznik: Why should I explain your ridiculous hypothetical back to you? A very strange request. If it helps your blood pressure, I plan to ride on the road at a reasonable and responsible speed.

                    • +1

@[Deactivated]: It's not hypothetical, there is a (profanity) who does it on our local bike path.

he wears a full face helmet so he knows how dangerous it is.

                      • -2

@oznik: If you had a Bafang 750W motor on your bike you could catch that dirty rotten scoundrel. Just an idea.

                        • @[Deactivated]: ok, so you seem like you have 100% boomer mentality where you rationalise what's good for you and ignore anyone else in society, so let me approach it from that angle:

Police have blitzes on stuff that is upsetting the community,

The community is upset with idiot motorcycle speed ebike riders riding dangerously.

Police start to apprehend. That's bad for all illegal power ebikers.

So in your best interest consider the following:

                          • on a bike path, slow down to normal bicycle speeds when you approach another rider or pedestrian

                          • get some decent tires so you can avoid an accident or reduce its severity, the mountain bike tires a lot of ebikes use are terrible at high speeds

                          • give plenty of room when passing other cyclists on the road - if you are going motorbike speed give motorbike passing distance.

Do this for your own self interest - the worse you act, the more likely ebike motors will be banned by customs and distribution more tightly regulated.

                          • -3

@oznik: Like I said, you do you and be happy with that. An unsolicited and sanctimonious dot point lecture from a stranger online about how others should behave on the pavement or elsewhere is at best an exercise in futility.

                            • -2

@[Deactivated]: you: engage in forum discourse

                              • -1

@oznik: I've only ever responded to you, I've never initiated conversation. That makes your advice unsolicited. The dot point nonsense was the sanctimonious bit.

                          • @oznik: Your Boomer mentality description seems to me much more like the Millennial and Gen Z philosophy on life when you take away their self righteous theatrics.

                            No-one consumes more than them.

                          • @oznik: It's not just ebike riders but some unpowered bike riders too.
I live in a one way inner city street that council has recently allowed two way cycle traffic to use. It has a 20km speed limit and a zebra crossing.
My street has two hills leading onto it so often I see bike and ebike riders fly down my street at 60km+. Many don't have lights or bells as required by law and neighbours all have at least one story about almost being knocked over by a bike rider.
The laws are there for a reason.

I'm am a bike rider too.

                      • @oznik: There's no shortage of nutters on the road/bike path/footpath. OP sounds like he/she/they knows enough to avoid adversely mixing with pedestrian cyclists in bike paths.. i.e. not nutty enough, and that's a good thing!

As much as they might be law breakers, I personally worry more about those that can't control their bikes and/or recklessly ride at 60kmphr on bike paths. Good luck trying to outlaw reckless or stupid :/

                  • @oznik: It's pretty simple. You hammer it when nobody is around. That's what brakes are for.

                    • @mckayver: good thing most ebike conversions focus on the whole platform not just the drive train leaving crappy kmart brakes.

              • +1

Great motor. Not at good as bbshd though. It's want to know what Battery cells it's running. Battery quality and price vary greatly

    • Panasonic

I become more educated since joining ozbargain . Thx OP .

  • +1

Have this kit with the exact same controller/battery combo and love it. Although I easily could have gotten away with a 500w kit; it’s a lot of power just personally, if people are thinking about wacking it on their pub bike

  • +3

My Bafang 750w motor is going on five years of daily use.

    • Wow, that's impressive. Do they require a service regime?

    • I run the Bafang Ultra Mid-Drive, just ticked over 6,000km. Will re-grease in spring.

      • Curious, do use it for recreation or going to work /shops instead of using a car.
When i go to my local aldi pretty much each day i see same bunch of shoppers using ebikes and escooters.

        • +1

Yeah sold the second car to fund the bike. It's for work, shop, playground runs with baby seat, parties et
Only just invested in wet weather gear, would recommend

          • @shap08: I totally understand people wanting to have a go at a party after a few beers. Lol

  • Can i fit this in my car

    • +3

Probably not. You'll need a flatbed ute to transport this engine.

  • +1

Damn, I paid 1225 on a deal on ebay last year. Prices have definitely gone up.

  • Love the BAFANG BBS02B 750W,
would recommend getting a Lekkie Bling Ring (less teeth more torque but less speed), I know they cost a bit but worth every cent.
Programming kit can be handy for tuning.
