These are the best bang for buck if you don't want to spend thousands, but want a good pair of binoculars. ESP Dielectric coated, Low Dispersion glass and Magnesium chassis. Usually sell for around $600-$700.
Lifetime Australian warranty. I personally own these and they are amazing value for the quality.
Only downside is they don't come with a lot of accessories.

They work great, but you will need a thin tripod binocular adapter due to the large objective lens. e.g. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/403697209644
Good for star/'comet/ meteor gazing?
If you are going to use a tripod, aren't worried about the weight and will only be doing astronomy you should get 16x or 20x mag. with 70mm aperture with porro prisms.
These are good for general purpose and hand held astronomy (you don't want more than 12x/50mm) due to weight and shaking. The Athlons have roof prisms.
On this subject (erm, vaguely), I've been searching for a decent pair of affordable binocs with a high mega-pixel camera built in available in an actual shop (not just online/for delivery) for ages, to no avail. Does anyone know where I could buy one?
OK, this is weird. When I go to the deal on the Amazon.com.au website, it shows the price as 367.93. But when I add it to my cart or click the Buy Now button, it shows the price as $605.33. Am I doing something wrong? I've never seen this happen before. I've tried it multiple times.
And now it's showing as $605.33 on the webpage. Perhaps it was a pricing error?
wonder if anyone managed to actually purchase it at the discounted price ?
would anyone know how these would compare against the Vortex Optics Diamondback Binoculars in similar range.
https://www.amazon.com.au/Vortex-Optics-Diamondback-12x50-Bi…
The Athlon Midas have noticeably better glass.
Vortex Diamondback are comparable to the Athlon Arogs range.damn looks like i missed a good deal.. will have to keep an eye for it to drop to this price again.
Great deal if what they call UHD is real ED glass, as in "extra low dispersion glass", as in here for example.
OOS btw
Amazon must have someone watching OzB for deals that are too good…They've put the price up to the normal $605.
These are very good. I have the 10x50 and they afe awesome! Best bang for your buck for sure. Competes with among the best.
What do you look at with these if not straining?
Anyone had success using them for a phone camera zoom?
