Just the 7 inch versions of these but for $90 shipped a good enough price for me to join the cult!

no one, they spend $90 hopefully!
Better than the huge ones that cost $400.
If I was going to spend that much money on a pepper mill, it'd be for the Pepper Cannon.Thing is built like a brick, is made well, and outputs more pepper than other mills do. That price though, just kills it :(
I adore my pepper cannon. Cost a fortune but it's bloody brilliant.
@tororm: Actually you saved a fortune mate, cos moulin by weberworkshops costs twice that fortune and more.
@tororm: Second this, love mine. Have Ben weighing up whether to get the salt cannon or not…
holy crap, wasnt the pepper cannon double that price when it first released?
I am so damn tempted to buy one…will prob be cheaper than dealing with RSI after having to twist my cole and mason derwent grinder 20+ times to get enough pepper every meal :)
These are top of the line, Peugeot grinders are some of the the best you can get. However, like most things, it's probably pretty pointless when a $15 Myer job will last decades anyway.
The $15 myer job will last a year or 2, the reason you buy Peugeot is because they will definitely last decades.
I always think cheap things will never last, but my cheap electric grinders refuse to die. I plan on going Peugeot once they do, they seem to be fine with the odd cleaning though.
Coffee grinder is worse, used daily and I want to replace it with an expensive one. But it won’t give up and let me spend money!
The master foods pepper grinder I got 20 years ago has lasted me Til now, sure it's slow and an effort but it still grinds. I think you can make the 15 dollar myrmer one last a lifetime
@garetz… All true… Mine are over 30 years old. Replaced one (salt?) about 20 years ago under lifetime guarantee. No issues about replacement.
A worthwhile purchase considering the price I would have paid back then, inflation adjusted (mind you nothing like the street price of today which still represents good value imho).
Would recommend :) Forget the cheapies which you will more than likely have to add to landfill in a year or so.
Sounds like they are the ones I want. Can you send a link please.
Have had these for about 10 years and they are still going strong. I have since moved to using salt flakes in a pot than the salt grinder, but the pepper mill still gets every day use and still good as new.
Tell me about these Salt flakes….
Curious, what do you find more desirable about them over table salt?
@fufufu: Literally nothing other than the ability to pick it up easier and determine how much salt you have in your pinch. More control of my seasoning.
Sounds pretentious AF but it's helped me so I run with it.
@Fergy1987: If you cook regularly and are using salt flakes a lot I recommend checking out the Maldon 1.4kg bucket. Can be had for $35-50 so ends up cheaper than the Saxa by a significant margin.
@Fergy1987: Ah I thought it was something like different texture or for the "crunch" on specific foods
@fufufu: Salt is salt more the most part. Salt flakes are generally used as a "finishing salt" for the texture like you said but assuming there is enough liquid for it to dissolve using it in general cooking will have the same results as regular table salt.
@Fergy1987: Look into cooking salt. You can get a kilo for $1-2 at Woolies
Flakes are for finishing.
What the yanks call "Kosher" salt is just crystals bigger than standard table salt (similar to granulated sugar size), which is available as cooking salt here. Very pinchable
Does these support Dolby Vision
you might be confused.
these actually support atmos.
no, theyre thx certified

Frankly this works fine for me.
It kills me the waste of this design. Why can't you refill them like hand soap or a myriad of other products?
I don't disagree with you but the grinders seem to work better than most of the refillable ones I've used. Not sure if it is due to the sealed system.
The Woolworths brand ones can be refilled.
Yes. Good & small. Take (part filled) when travelling light. Cheap enough not to bring back home.
As can the Masterfoods and Aldi ones
YouTube videos show how to refill Saxa grinders.
Thanks will look up
@try2bhelpful: Requires correct placement of screwdriver under lid. A bit tricky.
@INFIDEL: Looking at some of the video options you just need to find a “diffuser”, like a bit of wood, then hit it to make the top come down. Will have a bit of a look.
@try2bhelpful: A few options. Hitting didn't work for me.
@INFIDEL: Thanks for the heads up. We don’t use a lot of pepper so it might be a while before I give it a shot.
If there is a will there is a way
Hope these Peugeots are more reliable than the autos
I believe these ones are manual.
Shows my maturity level when my immediate thought when reading '7 inch' is to make a dick joke ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
7 inches is a joke :)
Don't leave us hanging, what's the joke?
He's actually a woman?
What is a woman?
@Bdawg: How should I know, it's not like I'm a scientist or anything? :)
@EightImmortals: IKR, the world is becoming dumber.
Then we get the definition: A woman is someone who feels and identifies as a woman.
Was going to get this set but the thing that was holding me back was that they are the same colour so you wont be able to tell if its salt or pepper until you checked the bottom. I went to 2 individual ones that are different colours instead.
Reckon I'll just put a small white sticker on one. It'll do short term!
Did you get them for the same price of $79?
Based on this eBay listing, which looks to be the same product, the top screw looks to have a subtle white or black outline to differentiate them:
As you mentioned black and white ring on the adjustment knob, but the grinder is different between the two as well.
"The grinding mechanism in Peugeot pepper mills are made of hardened steel. Peugeot uses the process of case hardening to ensure that the grinding mechanism withstands hard peppercorns and that the user doesn’t grind metal along with peppercorns. Case hardening is a process of infusing elements into a metal’s surface in order to form a hard outer layer.
Peugeot Salt mills, on the other hand, have an 18/10 stainless steel grinding mechanism. The first number, 18, is the percentage of chromium in the stainless steel. The second number, 10, is the percentage of nickel. Both of these elements in this type of stainless steel create a protective layer that is highly resistant to corrosion and rust, which makes it ideal for grinding salt."
My girlfriend has assured me than 7 inches is excessive and that 3 inches is perfectly adequate
She's just saying that to make you feel good. All the girls tell me they are happy with 7 inches.
ALL the girls, you say?
absolutely all of them!!
@hippyhippy: Meh, sounds like too much effort for me.
/sourgrapes
Are you mixing up length and width?
nope just checked. definitely length.
@hippyhippy: Ahhh, now there's the problem. You are misinterpreting what ALL the women were saying.
3 inches?
Humblebrag.
Steel is the best grinder material for pepper mills, but ceramic is better for salt as the steel will rust.
Personally I also prefer clear acrylic to wood so that you can see the salt and pepper.
80 for salt and pepper shaker? WTF? I think Im on the wrong site.
whats so good about these, fancy wood?
I will pay for a good grinder, but dont need the cosmetics.
My granny has these. I wouldn’t want them for free!
What did your granny do with them?
did the salt taste salty?
Apparently it was the grinder that tasted salty.
The pepper tasted salty and salt tasted spicy
Petrol or diesel?
Same on eBay but with free shipping, so a better deal.
Thanks @Mods for updating my link 😅
What's the point of a salt grinder?
To grind your pepper
What's the point of a salt grinder?
To separate gullible people from their money.
I have these. They’re nice and all but I wouldn’t buy them. The grind adjustment can be annoying
reminds me of Austin Powers
Are the tips made of actual gold?
I bought an adjustable Peugeot pepper grinder from a previous OzB deal and it annoys the heck out of me. To adjust the coarseness of the grind you need to rotate the base and adjust the tension on the knob on top and it continually loosens itself as you grind so it no longer grinds until you tighten this again. I can't remember what I paid but it was around $50 so pretty disappointed.
Anyone else have the same experience?
That sounds like the fancy "U'Select" version Vs. the manual version. Almost purchased one the other day during the prime sale, but good to know its a pain in the ass. 😔
Just install the grindr app and save yourself some money
Holy guacamole! This is a bargain? By how much? Scared to see the orig price. 😰
Is this cheaper than when Peugeot have sales on their own site? I think they run 40% off at times?
I have the small version and they are definitely worth the money for sure! (discounted that is, no one on ozb should be paying RRP neways lol)
picked up some dark brown wooden grinders from myer for 15 bucks on special last week. i can even adjust the grind level.
what kind of person spends $165 on these?
