Definitely does not stop the smell.

    • What would you recommend instead?

      • +5

Individual small bags and straight in the bin outside.

Free at your local dog park

Ubbi Diaper Disposal Pail Nappy Bin is the way to go.
No need for proprietary refills and only smells when you open it

        • A mate had an Ubbi and said theirs still stunk.

          • +1

@bradenpd: Nah it's good as long as u put each nappy in smaller nappy sacks.
Been using mine for over 2 years, works well.

          • @bradenpd: Can vouch for Ubbi, they don't smell unless you open them for disposal.

Double bag. Straight in the bin if you can.

        It's like 99% cheaper too

      • Angelcare. Worked like a charm for us. Wasn't overly expensive. No smell when closed.

  • +2

We went through years and $$$ for Angelcare equivalent, only switched a basic $20 Target bin for wees and individual small bags for poos recently.

I regret not switching hundreds of dollars ago

  • Guys, get this bin and some extra refill cartridges (also on sale ,+ s&s discount). Then get a roll of melloa refill and basically you refill the cartridges yourself once they run out. It's dead easy and saves you so much money.

    • +3

Yeah but my link is 200 poos for $6…

These cartridge systems are a scam and so wasteful (so much plastic going into the environment)

    • New to this (well, not yet, in 2 months time).
What is this ' roll of melloa refill ' that you refer to please?
Google shows me this but I don't which option to choose.

      • Don't make the same mistake as we did. Just go to Woolies and buy Little Ones nappy bags. Baby poos aren't that stinky until they eat solids.

  • +4

It ends up looking like intestines and it packs a punch when you open it. Definitely single bags and into the outside bin is much better and cheaper.

  • +3

Dunno what people are complaining about. We use this for just poo diapers and it does not stink at all. Hardly any smell even when we open it to empty it out. These guys must be doing something wrong.

The alternative is the Ubbi bin if you don't mind the god awful smell when you open it

We are 2.5 years in daughter is close to toilet trained. People forget to spin half a dozen times and close the lid. 1 spin doesn’t cut it. The genuine cartridges don’t smell. The DIY rolls do not stop the smell as much.

      • +1

Half a dozen times?! I spin in max 3 times :)
We have been using it for 1.5 years and no complaints yet. Got like 30 cartridges on an amazon deal almost 2 years ago. Total cost was less than the cost of an ubbi bin

        • Yeah I loaded up with a few of the bulk 18 unit boxes from the UK Amazon deal which was nuts. You’re probably right it’s more like 3 spins…I tend to do a few extra daughter thinks it’s funny!

  • +3

We spent a fortune on these and refills with our first born - hundreds of dollars. Stinks whenever you have to empty it. With baby 2 and 3 we switched to just using Little Ones nappy bags from Woolworths. The BEST quality cheap nappy bags. Dymples suck. Try them out - only $3.20 I think for 200 bags.

  • Don’t waste money on these stuff. Just pack each used nappy away with the cheap dog poo bags which you can get for like $1.75 for 4 rolls from Kmart.

shameless plug, we have a small business 'Eco Nappy Bins' that sells compatible refill kits for the Tommee Tippee bin. We are the only business in oz that gets it manufactured in China to our standards & is guaranteed biodegradable film & use multi-layer scented film to minimise smell. All of the other sellers are just resellers so be aware.
We also sell kits for angelcare and Korbell bins.
