Hang on, you are comparing Jetstar deal for 2 people, with Air Newzealand and Malaysian Airlines fare for a single person. Are you trying to prove that Jetstar is half-price basically?
Melb to Tokyo - Flying in mid May (SINGLE AIRFARE PRICES)
Jestar - $809.24 total
AirNew Zealand - $1,487 total
Malaysian Airlines - $1,624 total
I think you need to do some more thorough research next time.
Ah.. their sites work differently. If you enter TWO adults at Jetstar it has Total $1616ish; however, at Bestflights you enter TWO people and it comes up with $1487 total - but fails to mention that is the single fare (until you continue to another page).
I can now give it the THUMBS UP ;)
Can't beat Jetstar on price! That's for sure
All prices below are for 2 people ;)
Was searching during that period for Melbourne - Tokyo and actually found cheaper flights on http://www.bestflights.com.au
I searched Melb-Tok May 2009, Jetstar (with 20kg baggage) came to $1616 (WITHOUT Food, WITHOUT Entertainment, WITHOUT Pillows etc).
Bestflights gave me for the same dates:
Air New Zealand $1487 inc. taxes (which includes pillows, food, blah blah)
Malaysia Airlines $1666 inc. taxes (which includes pillows, food, blah blah)
Anyway, food for thought.
