Most of the points in his review are valid when it was almost twice this price. Seems good value here. Any reason not to make the plunge?
Note that the review unit has a 5900 CPU in it vs this 5800, but yeah. Seems like a beast nonetheless.
The internal looks very similar to the G Series laptop. It looks like the second m.2 NVMe requires the stupid proprietary Dell bracket which you have to order from Dell. I don't know how much they charge but it's so annoying that it isn't included.
Can't see a better value laptop for this higher end laptop
3070 has lower tdp vs lenovo legion pros
Yeah but don't think the Legion pros come close to this price for a 3070.
Hence why this is a banger of a deal. The only one recently which has competed was the gigabyte laptops
Only 10w less and the 10w is on the DB wattage not base wattage. Loss in fps % will be minimal.
Love my legion 5 pro, haven’t touched my gaming rig since buying it.
Note that the Alienware laptops are larger in size compared to Asus, MSI and Razer.
Quite bulky if you plan to carry it around with you all the time.
I personally got the Asus Zephyrus G15 2070 for around the same price a year ago.
True thought Alienware tend to have higher performance than the thinner laptops mentioned.
Depends if the extra performance is worth the extra weight to you personally
You are exaggerating. The M series may be just a bit longer with the end sticking out, but they are no thicker or that larger than other machines with the similiar form factor. An asus strix/legion/msi gp/ge will be thicker while slightly shorter, this is because dell opted to move some cooling solution to the 'butt' of the laptop, instead of building on the vertical space.
Its wrong to compare it to a zephyrus or razer blade, both series are known for being thinner and lighter at the cost of cooling and performance.
The Alienware laptops have more of a 'butt' as you have said.
For me, this increases the size significantly.
Nice performance to price ratio! I'm just waiting to see how Ryzen 6000 series fairs with USB4 support. Maybe next year Ryzen 6000 will be around these prices :D
Gah I only just managed to not plunge last time these got posted, stop teasing me, I don't need this at all but banger of a deal I want it
this laptop is a beast! i got one and use it to play destiny 2 on nightshift. my god its a beast! i got it for around the same price direct from dell sales last month.
Good value and specs but will run hot and loud nonetheless basically all the time and bit of a let down on display, but again the price.
This has the TCC setting so you can set it to up to -15 (so it throttles at up to 85c instead of 100c)
Showing as $1799 for me now 🤔
Far out that's great
Extra $100 off makes the deal almost too good. I just became broke after buying my coffee machine and grinder. This would have been nice
Just bought one of these bad boys!
Again? I gotta hold myself. I don't want to spend this much money now.
