Three is the minimum but I bought the max of six, in case they're actually good…

    • +1

      Same, got 5 lol

    • +1

It is. The meat I'm not a huge fan of (mainly the pieces with huge chunks of fat on it); but the flavour of the sauce is amazing. Eat it with tube/penne type pasta or white rice

I’m usually critical of canned meals (which I lived on a bit at uni), but this one actually sounds decent by the ingredients.

I make goulash a bit, but a canned version is so convenient, and this ain’t expensive.

      • This is like a thin Hungarian style goulash, whereas Im use to thick rich as German goulash.
But its damn tasty, especially over boiled potatoes that have been fried in a butt load of butter.

        • Sounds good. Yeah true Hungarian goulash is somewhat of a soup - very thin and often has dumplings (bread) in it. I make it in the thick style like you said.

Bought a couple of the during the great supermarket lockdown panic. Definitely pretty nice on rice. Loved the first one but was sick of it by the third. Probably just needed to space them out more.

Unfortunately Amazon doesn't stock crab juice, to go with this

    • +4

I'd choose that over mountain dew every time.

    • +10

      No pizza, only khlav kalash!

      • Crab fat for me anytime, thanks.

    • +1

crab juice only goes with Khlav Kalash

  • +5

Is this served with bowls or sticks?

  • +9

Same price at Coles till Tue.

    • +5

This is the first thing I do when I see these "Amazon" grocery deals. May as well make it a requirement to post the corresponding supermarket deal since more people probably have convenient access to Coles than an Amazon Prime subscription.

    🍴👍

    • +4

Totally safe. Canning process cooks meat throughout and FMD is destroyed by cooking.

      • +2

C'mon @PainToad, live dangerously for once in your life, as your namesake would suggest. BTW thanks OP. Ordered the max. The only way to live.

      • -3

That's good. I'd still rather support Australian famers.

        • -4

Surprised you're not lecturing us about climate change and cow farts.

          • +1

@TEER3X: How is that related in anyway to supporting Australian farmers?

            • -1

              @PainToad:

How is that related in anyway to supporting Australian farmers?

Because some Australian farmers run herds of cows and cows is where cow farts come from? More cows mean more cow farts? (Seemed obvious to me…)

              • @1st-Amendment: So buying meat from overseas solves this problem because only Australian cows fart. Good to know. /s

                • @PainToad:

So buying meat from overseas solves this problem because only Australian cows fart.

Solves what problem? Are you talking to me or yourself here?

          • @TEER3X: Cows fart and cause climate change!!!!! …. I TOLD YOU!

            • -1

              @Series4Episode10:

Solves what problem? Are you talking to me or yourself here?

Cows fart and cause climate change!!!!! …. I TOLD YOU!

I said I'd rather support Australian famers. You started banging on about climate change.

All cows from all around the world contribute to climate change. Me wanting to support Australian farmers has no relevance to climate change at all.

              • @PainToad: If you look at who it's directed at (@TEER3X) … you see that … do you understand that that means it's directed at someone else? … NOT you!

        • +1

Upvoted you as I think that’s a fair comment.

        • The majority of our beef is exported.

          • @[Deactivated]:

The majority of our beef is exported.

And? We still have enough that's not exported that we don't need to import it.

            • @PainToad: And therefore this could still be Aussie beef.

In the meantime, farmers arent supporting you by flooding supply to keep local prices down, so f the farmers.

      This is from Croatia…..

    • I was waiting for someone in these comments to have a case of foot in mouth disease. You win!

  • +2

    Any hedgehog goulash?

  • +3

    Is good?

  • +7

I find this Goulash very poor with watery sauce and a few small pieces of tough meat. I wouldn't buy again.

    • +1

You could try cooking it in a saucepan for a while to reduce the sauce (and enhance flavour) , that might soften the meat too.

    • +1

Add in some sour cream and it kinda passes off as a low effort stroganoff!

    • I have been eating these since I was a kid in Croatia. We normally use it for sauce and meat we don't eat it as it is, usually add more vegetables and other things to it.

  • +15

    More like Beef Poosplash

  • -1

Canned meat seems just wrong to me.

Tip: put in a toasted sandwich with cheese.

I'm so keen-o on Beefarino, what a delicious cuisine-o, fit for a king and queen-ooooo.

    • +1

I take it you bought some of this for your horse. I did too, but I think I overbought.

  • +2

Yeah, for 2 bucks I'll have a go. Even if it just ends up being used as a sauce base. Thanks OP.

  • +1

This is the beez knees. Cook yourself some pasta and add this in for sauce. Yummy.

  • So is it beef or 'beef'?

Don't hate the messenger - it wouldn't be the first time Eastern Euro companies have put 'beef in products that were meant to have beef.

      Protein is protein!

      • +2

Yeah I don’t see how horse meat is bad. They’re sentient animals with four legs too and have a whole lot of meat.

      • +3

Yeah I dunno if I wanted to be downvoted into oblivion this early in the day, so I'll disagree on that but leave as is.

Is funny if you think about it as apparently in quite a lot of Euro countries Horse meat is from what I've been told quite openly sold and eaten. We're cool with their end of life going to fertiliser and pet food but not human consumption.

This said we're ALL going to be eating sausages & manufactured meats made from mass farmed insects in the future. Just a few oligarchs eating actual meat which will be licenced and sold by the state. ;-)

  • Meat from a can. Mmmm

  • Guess I'll grab a can of this filth from coles to see what all the fuss is about. Can always feed it to my dogs if it's rancid.

  • +2

    I mean, that’s not bad.

Even if you say the whole price is just for the 100g of cooked beef, that’s $20/kg. Raw chuck is $18-$20/kg at Colesworth. Might be closer to the $16-17/kg brisket pieces but there’s the convenience factor - it’s cooked, comes with sauce, and will store for ages.

Note to self - grab a cheap Costco brisket and make a lot of goulash.

  • People who like this kind of sh1t never served in the military!

    • Thank you for your service

It was probably folding blankets as a reservist because pogues are usually the ones who’ll drop hints without being asked, but thanks

      • lol!

It's actually POG - wrong country (and service) championie.

Pogues are an Irish folk/rock band. Do try and keep up.

        Anyway, folding blankets is important

    • Lol; what?

      • What I was referring to was that in the army, you get to eat a lot of tinned, processed, freeze-dried food - much of it not very nice.

  • +1

Peeps, a humble suggestion on how to enjoy this fine product to its fullest and this also applies to another fine tin meat product which is the Braised Beef & Onion.

Simply use an everyday Sandwich Maker and lavishy butter bread(s) on both sides and chuck some cheese and preferred sauce (optional), close lid and when ready, Yummo!

  • Is this flavourful or bland?

    • +1

      Flavourful (on the salty side)

  • +3

A horse is a horse of course of course

  • This is suspiciously cheap. Nothing wrong with horse meat but false advertising is another matter.

    • How so? 340g of Spam is $6~ not on special. This is 340g, with only 33% meat content

      • spam is also 33% meat

        • Touché

  • Back in stock

  • I got my 3 cans today and they all have massive dents in them. Did this happen to anyone else?

    • One of mine did , didn't help the taste either

    • Microsoft must have been down 3 points….
