Irrelevant: the statement contains no qualifying text (eg: "Be the first to OWN a Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 with no contract")

        • +1

the bold claim did come with tiny qualifying text underneath

Brand New with 12 Months Warranty
No locks, contracts or network software
          Original Stock
Compatible with 3g, Yes G and Next G

But i agree with him that if you buy from topbuy, you wont be getting it in a very long time considering they only have 30-50 instock

        • But then you wouldn't be the "First" to own one…

        Fair point highdealer. I interpret
Be the first: Be amongst the first group of purchasers.

to OWN: Have the tangible unit in your hand to take home and use wherever … whenever.

    • Samsung Australia support site confirms Galaxy S III for Vodafone, Optus, and possibly a 4G version for Telstra

    As HK people say:
Enjoy more if you bought earlier, Save Couple bucks if you bought later.
    It's your choice!
    I prefer enjoy earlier!

The back of this phone is bloody ugly. It'll stick to plastic according to reviews.

  • this… and tomorrow's S3 release on optus and voda… i hope it doesn't affect HTC One X plan pricings too much, cuz I just got it on $49+10 on a 1 year contract today >.> will feel pretty bad if there's a large drop..

    • +3

i think you will find the ONE X being available on some much cheaper plans once the SGS3 becomes widely available. thats what you get for being impatient, though.

      • The One X to me is a better phone anyway. The S3 has better battery life and is slightly more powerful, but honestly where are you going to need that power. I charge my phone every night and 5 hours of screen time is plenty.

        • What makes it better? I know it's better value.

        • +1

I know the One X is great, its just that I have a slight preference for the S3. I went with the one x because I thought the S3 actual availability (for aussie stock) would only be in mid-june (boy was I wrong, hah). I called up voda and they're working to change my order/plan :)

ozhunter - S3 has things like microSD slot, removeable battery, slightly better battery life and the S3's exynos quad core and its' gpu does a little better than one x's internals in benchmarks. One X has a great screen (Super LCD2 vs Pentile Amoled but its really subjective as to which is better one, LCD more accurate colors i believe, pentile more battery friendly and better blacks), is pretty good looking and costs less. They're both the best android phones on the market right now and it just comes down to preference. I've been using a htc for a couple of years now and wanted to try a samsung, and the s3 seems like a good choice.

    • I thought HTC One X is already $0 on Vodafone's 49Cap?

      • +1

thats is for 24 month, for 12 month it cost $10

      • $49+0 on 24month contract, $49+20 for 12month contract (online price). had to call them up and try to ask for discount to get $49+10.

top buy are scum. sold me fake Ralph Lauren sunglasses.took me over a month to get refund. and that's after having to go to there warehouse and demanding it back.

    • +2

      Why not just Paypal dispute…?

  • Watch the price come down by August, maybe even more when iPhone 5 is out. Maybe $550-$600 mark.

No temptations to buy it. It looks UGLY

Samsung phones' resale value aren't as good as Iphones. If you don't mind the used phones, wait for a couple more months and buy one on ebay. Prices for the galaxy phones drop quickly.

somehow i cant bring myself to use a 2nd hand phone knowing that it has went to places I wouldn't even touch with a gloved hand on a stranger.

    • Yea no point buying now. Waht's so special about getting it first hand? its not like its a major leap from SGS2.

      • yeah I would not buy it now, the HOX is better looking and better priced, only scores slightly less in benchmarks.

      • not a major leap from SGS2, but for SGS1 owners like me, it's a hellva difference if you ask me.

  • If its anything like the NEXUS please DONT BUY IT the quality sucks, the reception sucks and … Its also NOT 4G so also a perfect reason to give it a pass IMO.

    • Is there a 4G version of S2?

      • Yes, Head up to Telstra

Being first available doesn't make it a bargain.

  • +1

If this is shipped from overseas you may as well import it from UK for $30 less…

  • +1

This maybe a good price for now compared to other online retailers. But I don't think paying this much for a phone which we all know is going to drop significantly in couple of months is an appealing proposition for real bargain hunters.

i will explain topbuys local warranty as it states in the title to draw us all in and make us feel comfortable.
it means LOCAL TO THE PHONE MANUFACTURER (OFTEN HONG KONG)AND NOT LOCAL TO THEM IN AUSTRALIA . AS I HAVE RECENTLY LEARNT and their website is very misleading to that fact.i'm now forking out money to send my phone back to hong kong.

    • That's ridiculous. Report them to the ACCC then. Very deceptive if it's true.

      • i have threatened to if they dont cover my costs. but for all ppl who have dealt with accc before, they act more as a go between and in my experience (with tiger airways a few yrs back)dont do that much if the company wont comply. just wanted everyone to know before you buy it is all.ignorance is not bliss in this case!

        • It's true but if they get enough complaints they will take action.

  • JUST GOT THIS EMAIL…

We have just been notified by our suppliers all their Samsung Galaxy SIII 16GB BLUE has been recalled to fix a widely reported battery door defect that apparently caused the destruction of 600,000 units ( bac covers not entire phones that is) of the Blue colour.

The latest news provided to us is that ALL distributors are affected and the source of the delay is directly with Samsung. No phone has been shipped to any customers yet.

Samsung distributor is not definite with the timing of the new shipments.

From the original Samsung press release the problem is only expected to cause a 2-3 weeks delay.
