  • Does anyone have any experience with these cameras and are the comparable to Ring or better?

    • +4

I switched over from ring to these. Mainly because of the increased subscription costs.
I had the ring spotlight cam which has a strong spotlight but apart from that the eufy does the job.
Notifications on my eufy are almost instantaneous and on par with ring (i had to use rapid ring app for faster alerts compared to the generic ring app).
      Overall happy with the purchase.

      • Great, thanks for you input. I have read some reviews that the movement detection was not as good on the Eufy but the $15 per month subscription for Ring sure does add up👍

      • So these "floodlights" are only ok?

Is it more like a light bulb that just turns on?

        • floodlight are just floodlight. Even when it's plugged in. It doesn't offer 24/7 recording, no SD card expansion, no RTSP. Just 8GB internal storage.

          • @ruriruri: no I mean the floodlights on these cameras.

            • +1

@RtN: I believe the lights on the eufy are only 12 lumens compared to ring's 300 lumens from two LED light strips. The products are designed differently.

However, from comparison I find the night vision on the eufy is better than the ring spotlight cam.

If floodlights are important to you then you should check the eufy floodlight cam which is more equivalent to the ring spotlight cam.

I think Eufy is better than Ring as you don't need to pay an ongoing subscription to store recordings. Some may prefer the cloud storage for $49.95 per year for 1 device with Ring.

    • I got some Eufy refurbs from their site. Fantastic customer service and great product. No regerts.

      • Where can I find refurbs on their site thanks

    • The only major issue. Eufy must be on internet 24/7 to work. When offline recording and motion detection stop.

      • I understand that this records only motion detection based mini video clips and no24x7 recording. However, is it possible to quickly open app anytime in phone and check the live view?

        • +1

Yes you can open the app on your phone and check live view at any time you want.

      • This is not true. I had some issues with my internet but found that the clips were still being captured on the hub. I obviously did not recieve alerts/ notifications because there was no internet.

        • My floodlight stopped working when there is internet outage. I think all the motion detection is done server side.

    • Never had a ring, but the Eufy's have been great. Don't really want my video on a cloud I don't control and certainly don't want to pay for the privilege.

There is an option to download recorded events as well if anyone is worried about someone clearing the footage via Sync (I always have my phone so am not too concerned about that, I did have some weirdo try to pinch one of the cameras at one point, but after telling him to (profanity) off and I have his face remotely he just ran off).

There is also the issue of recording stopping when the internet drops, but with UPS and 4G backup mine haven't had any issues.

Only real issue I've had is the mounting plate for the doorbell had some problems in injection and fell off the wall.

P.S this is more than $150 more than I paid for this kit 6 months back so not that great.

      • Just bought a set of the Eufy 2 Pro 2K on Prime sales but haven't set it up yet.
Can you connect 4G backup to the homebase directly? Or is this 4G backup a part of your NBN modem?

        • I believe it's 4G back up included in the modem. I have a Telstra Smart modem 2 with 4G backup but the signal strength is pretty poor and bandwidth may be an issue. I've also heard that NBN connection requires power at the nearest exchange to work so even with a UPS it may not have a connection if the power goes out. Can anyone confirm this?

        • Not part of the Eufy, mine is a bit of a hackfest. Raspberry Pi bridges 4G and NBN modems (dongles++). So those, plus my router, plus the PoE for Unifi AP's live on a UPS.

Is it me or have the prices increased on these?
I feel like average price were <700

    • +1

I agree, this is not a great price at all. Got if for over $200 less about 2 years ago.

PS: this deal already has more up-votes than previous, relatively recent deals where it was $50-60 cheaper. In fact together with the 'deal' from last month this is the most expensive deal in years.

      • Edit: have revoked the neg because my deal was for the non-pro (as were some of the deals I compared it with), however still not an amazing deal for the pro.

  • Have they fix the problem with long pressing sync button to wipeout all recorded footage yet?

    • +1

      No.

For me, the Eufy system is just an extra layer of (consumer grade) surveillance and serves its purpose (for the price) reasonably well. As I experienced with Ring, both products have it's flaws. For the price and not having any monthly fees is a trade off I'm willing to take. I have my cameras mounted in a spot which you can only reach with a ladder which makes them harder to steal but obviously a determined thief could steal my ladder and use it to get to my cameras if they wished.

    • +1

Soldering iron will fix it. If the button isn't there you're safe as houses.

The only issue I have with eufy is the alarm isn't loud enough.

Otherwise they are great cameras and battery last long.

  • +6

i managed to get my kit for ~$550 5 months ago. product itself is great, cameras work significantly better then my last arlo set, basically does what it says on the box

    • Was this for the pro 2k version?

  • Quite a lot of comments about the price being higher than ever - is this worth just waiting for to go back down?

    • +1

I’m wondering if everyone is referring to the non pro models?

      • Thanks for pointing this out. Still not an amazing deal for the pro.

      • That's what I was thinking as there are tons of different models with slight name variations.

  • $675 from TGG Commercial if you have access…

  • looks like expired.

  • Besides the price difference can anyone comment on this vs this:

      • Thanks. Anyone have any real life experience and recommendation also?

        • +1

Almost the same but with different battery capacities. And 2 pro has no spotlight. You can buy 4 solar panels with the extra $400…

          • @fjj: Would you know if the spotlight just comes on with the sensor?

            • +1

@pOint01: Are you referring to the 2c? It's designed to come on when motion is detected but you can turn it off if you don't want to.

  • just got it price matched at supercheap. pretty good.
