These are cheap and I find them tasty too. These are great for those lazzy days/nights when you dont want to cook, and cant be bothered to go for takeout or spend a big on restaurants.

Just another decent prime deals I found out.

These normally go for $3 I think on woolworths/coles, So a 58cents savings on these. But sadly no S&S discount available. This is hence better than like that frozen Butter chicken (from Aldi) Pricewise at least.

There are multiple varieties available, some have a minimum order quantity though.

Personally I like the Paneer Butter/Tikka Masala or Paneer Makhni.

Beautiful. Perfect with Roti Pharata from Costco!

    • Some Bhindi Masala is even cheaper at $2.20

        the reviews :-)

        • Yeah there's a reason why I like the Paneer one most

      • Awesome, love this one.
Sometimes I mate a bhindi masala sandwich as well. Sounds really weird, but tastes good.
This is definitely the best flavour of the range in my opinion.

They used to be $5 for 3.

      • I personally hate the Bhindi masala ..its too oily

  • Tried the potato and it's nothing mushy sauce..not impressed

  • Nice will get some

Just ordered $120 of emergency meals. I like this stuff and Im not Indian

    • What do you eat it with ?

      • +44

I eat it with a spoon

      • +5

Rice or some sort of Indian bread usually, like Rotis, or Naan.
I always have Indian breads in freezer.

      • +2

        mouth.

    • +2

      if you're not Indian,
      then are you a prepper ? :-P

  • +2

I like to avoid these, greasy and tasteless. Good only if you are stranded somewhere in the middle of the nowhere and no restaurants around.

If you have to eat this, add some yoghurt to dilute the taste (and to some degree - oil )

    • +1

I disagree. Sure they are not as good as fresh meals or even frozen ones, but they are ok. Compared to the Aldi/Wool/Coles ones they are way better.

      • How do they compare to Tasty Bite?

    • -2

I don't they're that bad…. Way better in quality and taste than the ones made in Australia. I've tried woolies, Coles, Aldi, Costco

      • +4

The Coles ones are made in India.

        • +1

the Coles branded ones just tasted to be really salty

  • OOS?

  • +1

To each his own - MTR is a south Indian brand - so these items are north Indian cuisines cooked in a south Indian way. Ok for one in a while change in taste.

  • +4

I love south Indian food. Briyani eaten drenched with meat curry is da way, instead of the dry style.

    • +3

      …is not da right way

  • +1

This is legit Indian food. I saw this brand selling at the supermarket when I was in India.

    • …In the same way seeing Papa Giuseppi and Krispy Kreme's at the supermarket here makes them 'legit Australian food.'

    • +2

I have a lotta Indian friends and they have told me that no one buys these in India. This is just crap for them. But all were of the opinion that they are not too bad as in you can't eat them.

  • +3

It's a blessing to have these in FNQ. Paneer is a rare commodity here.

    Like the pongal as well.

    Thanks a lot for posting

    • +2

You can easily make paneer yourself, Milk and lemon juice - curdle it up and press it. But easier to buy.
I find the Costco panner quite good price wise, but fresh is the best.

      • +1

True that. Done it a couple of times. Like you said….it's about the convenience

Just get Fetta/Ricotta Cheese from local supermarket. Ricotta is quite similar to paneer. Fetta is my personal preference though (but it will melt when heated lot)

      • Thank you for the suggestion. Will try ricotta. I find fetta too salty

        • +1

Try Persian feta. Very smooth. Different feta has different salt taste, I find Danish really salty!

      • +3

Ricotta is no way similar to paneer. They both taste totally different.

    • Paneer is cottage cheese. Colesworths have started stocking some cheese brands which make cottage cheese.

      Bulla comes to mind.

      • the texture of that cottage cheese is very different to paneer. I've tried it. If ive to give an analogy its almost like firm tofu ( paneer texture) and silken tofu

  • +6

How do they still have stock? I bought 50 yesterday (different types).

    Yes I'm Indian.

For the people eating it by itself, it's a sauce/curry, you are meant to eat it with something, not by itself. Mix it with rice, breads (Indian, Spanish etc) or stuff it in meat.

    • +1

      I bought 20 today

    • +3

      What's a good flavour

      • -3

They aren't "flavours", they are all different.

Its like asking, is Mayo better than tomato sauce? Or is celery better than lettuce?

Some people prefer this over that, if you like cheese then pick the paneer "…"

        • +4

I thought my question was quite straightforward, even if I didn't use the correct word.

I guess I'll go with butter paneer thanks to Munki

      • +1

try the navratan korma and the paneer butter masala

  • Cupboard is full of these, good bang for ya buck.

  • Are these any good? The Amazon reviews don’t look promising

    • 4/5 stars is pretty good?

    • +1

Can always go to Woolworths/Coles buy and try one for $3. If you like it then order at amazon.

  • +1

Cheers OP, bought a few to try. 11 varieties, 21 packs for <$50.

  • +2

I like Indian food but not food from India

    • +1

To be honest these are rubbish. Try the haldiram's brand easily available at indian grocery stores.

  • -1

    Not a deal.

In fact they are at a historical high price at Amazon. I bought a few a while ago for $2.20 or even $2.

They are not bad but not the best. Also the containers can’t be microwaved so a little inconvenient to prepare.

The safe bet is Tikka Masala but even that is a little bland, the rest can be an acquired taste.

    • +2

      Containers can be microwaved

      • +1

All the ones I bought had metalalised packaging and the instructions said you can’t.

    • +2

Agree new price is not a historically low, but like video cards a while ago, you have to compare with what the market has today. Food now seems to be price jumping. Who is bitcoin mining with food?

  • PSA, watch that sodium content. I haven't had these lately but this seemed like the only objectively not so nice thing about these.

  • +2

The Channa Masala is vegan for those that care.

  • -4

Frequently purchased with this item - Quilton 45 roll value pack

  • TIL that Amazon sells food too.

Now I gotta see what kind of vegetarian snacks they have.
